The reason I understood the cutscenes is because I played the original. If I was a brand new player I would be like âWTF IS HAPPENING???â Which is bad because this game is meant to attract NEW PLAYERS!
I literally came here to get a screen grab for this very reason.
OMG I know right, the original cutscenes had text and better visuals, this one has no text and just lesser visuals, past SEGA were clearly living in the future, they had everything they needed, they need to be going up not down.
Hmm not really itâs mainly because the og story had four monkeys in mind while in here thereâs six monkeys so it wouldnât work
@@thenerdly Yeah but they could of at least had text boxes. They could have added new lines for YanYan and Doctor. Iâm saying as it is itâs hard to understand whatâs happening.

This must be so confusing for new players trying to understand wtf is happening. Like the cutscenes in the original were no masterpiece but at least the story made sense.

I wish they did the actual cutscenes like in the original. I understand its referring to the past story. Too bad they havent reused the old cutscenes as like a bonus

Changes in the cutscenes.
-YanYan and Doctor are added in the beginning (for no reason either).
-Dr. Bad Boon does not wear his frog suit underwater.
-AiAi is the one to notice the whale approaching first instead of Dr. Bad Boon.
-Dr. Bad Boon does not offer to give MeeMee a massage. ;)
-AiAi and co + Dr. Bad Boon all escape the whale at the same time instead of Dr. Bad Boon escaping first.
-We sadly do not get to see Baby throwing a fit over finding Dr. Bad Boon's hideout.
-AiAi and co are blown away by a gust of wind instead of MeeMee flying up Dr. Bad Boon's nostril to make him sneeze them away.
-Thankfully, we do not see Dr. Bad Boon with no clothes on in the hot tub...
-The context of how AiAi and co grew back to normal is that they snuck into Dr. Bad Boon's clothes before he changed and tickled him into changing them back (unfortunately, we do not hear Dr. Bad Boon's hearty laugh) but we do not get to see this entirely.
-We do not get to see one of the aiai bots facing the wrong way when they line up.
-The magical spell is Ei-Ei-Poo! Well, not anymore...
-DR. BAD BOON'S HEE HEE HEE LAUGH IS WIPED. REDUCED TO ATOMS.
One major change was how Dr. Bad-Boon and the monkeys temporarily teamed up in order to escape the whale.
The original cutscenes were so much better...
This doesnât ruin the game for me, but⊠seriously? Why is EVERY other aspect of the game so polished, yet they didnât bother to remake the cutscenes? If anything, these dialogue-less skits would just come off as confusing for newcomers.

The game is great but not getting epic cutscenes is the biggest bummer. Oh well.
Man! While I DID expect them to cheap out & not have the original cutscenes because of the new Wii era character designs of the monkeys, I did NOT expect them to completely (& poorly) pantomime SMBâ 2âs plot. This story somehow makes even LESS sense now then it did in 2002 since the dialogue is completely gone, which is extremely bad for new players.

But most importantly, we are missing âMonkey Spell is Ei-Ei Pooâ, and that is a travesty that will not go unnoticed Sega. XD

Along with Jam, Jet and all the crossover characters who can also be playable in adventure mode as well

As someone who doesnât know super monkey balls 2 story, I will guess whatâs happening in each cutscene
So it starts off the monkeys are enjoying their special bananas, and then dr badboon steals it for himself. Then aiai and his friends tell him to give them back. Then dr bad boon is like, âno way!â And then runs off. Then aiai and friends get the bananas back, but then dr bad boon is back and is like âhey I love those bananas give them backâ, but then meemee is like ânuh uh! I wonât give them to you!â Then dr bad boon is like âwell if you donât give me those bananas, Iâll blow up this volcano!â And then aiai and meemee are like ânot if we stop you first!â And then they chase him. And then after that gongon is like âguys Iâm super strong watch thisâ, then he kicked the bomb and then hits dr bad boon and other guy. Then they go swim under water, and then they all get eaten by a whale, and then dr bad boon is like âif you find a way out, I wonât stop bothering you ever againâ and then everyone starts panicking which upsets the whales stomach and they get spitten out on this island but then they cause dr bad boon because he still has bananas but then they get lost a fair, but then it looks like meemee has some super cool idea. So then they finally found him, but then dr bad boon shrinks them, and then starts to cook them over a fire pit but then they blow away. Then they get in someoneâs back yard and like they see him but dr bad boon is like busy day dreaming. Then aiai and meemee get into some fight, and then everyone starts annoying dr bad boon and they all get bigger again. Then they somehow get to some factory and they see a bunch of aiai robots but theyâre bad so aiai and the robots donât like each other. But then they beat the robots so then dr bad boon goes to a rocket ship, and aiai and meemee go up to. And then they see dr badboon and theyâre like realllll mad. And then they cause a lot of chaotic ness and they blow up the ship, and then dr bad boon surrenders.

You are mostly accurate. The whole deal at 0:59 between Bad Boon and Meemee is actually Bad Boon is hitting on Meemee and Meemee is disgusted by him which results in him getting mad. Cuz Bad Boon had this whole creepy obsession with wanting Meemee for himself in SMB2.
At least thereâs a mod to bring back the cutscenes on PC.

Bruh. Itâs disappointing how barebones of an effort was made to create these cutscenes. Yeah, I get it, animation is hard. But I canât get behind the fact that they literally reused the plot from Super Monkey Ball 2 (a game that had fully animated cutscenes, and captions so you could actually understand what the heck was going on). It wouldâve been better if they had remastered, or even just exported the cutscenes from SMB2 for this game.
Not to mention they got rid of Ei Ei Poo. Well, they have something similar that plays in the middle of each cutscene, and you can tell where they got their inspiration from. The problem is that itâs annoying this time around. I really liked the original, I wonât lie. The lyrics were unique for each cutscene, which I could appreciate. The song was catchy, even if other people get annoyed with listening to it during gameplay. The new version is just obnoxious.

Why waste the budget on pointless cosmetics when you could have just used it to properly remaster the cutscenes instead of whatever... THIS is.

I mean it shouldnât be hard for Sega to just retexture the models of SMB2 with the newer designs I mean they managed to completely change all the models in Sonic Adventure 1 when the Gamecube version came out but kept the original cutscenes intact

This is a massive downgrade compared to the cutseens in the original. This game was a massive downgrade & the devs should've listen to their fans more.
