Warning! My rental of a storage unit at Public Storage started at a rate of $80 a month. There was also a $25 dollar charge for the public storage lock on top of the initial monthly fee. My final month rate had balloned to $183 a month.
This company will penalize its loyal customers. My rate just went up 40 dollars again , I have been there 23 years feels like I am being forced out.
Just a horrible company. They will raise your rate every 3 to 6 months and usually like $75 increase which is bullshit. The gate failed multiple times and people got locked in and couldn't get out for hours and yet they didn't even give a discount on rent. I also had things stolen and they didn't review the camera footage. Do not rent at public storage, go to any other storage place and you'll be better off.
Yeah. This is their MO. Moved out yesterday. 70% increase in a year.
This should be against the law.
@@AltonCrawford I share storing some of my stuff with my mother and the last 5 years the price has went up drastically for a 10 by 15. Here are the price increases below.
2019: $115
2020: $136
2021: $150
2022: $188
2023: $213
2024: 272
We aren’t paying the $272 because the bill would normally go up every July and we are getting everything out before July 1 but that is what the increase would go to.
Often times the advertised size is different than the actual size as well. It's in the contract that all sizes are estimated. Also the insurance they try to get you buy is really weak and expensive.
They just raised mine 25%
Of course, they do not advertise this as you are search for storage facilities.
They are scammers
Within 2 years mine has almost doubled, now I have to pay movers to move and get a new storage or lose all my property for my family...to raise it almost 100% means Im paying the price of more than one storage.
It's insane.
What do you expect from an outdoor unit?? You think they're air tight or something? Debris, leaves, dirt etc.will blow in with the wind. Just like anywhere else. Your garage etc.(on a side note you definitely easily had a 10x20 unit which even at $183 monthly is a steal compared to most markets) But you are dead on with the rate increases. Although it is in the first page of their lease that they can raise your rent whenever they like. You signed it, thus agreeing to it. "Long term storage" is typically unnecessary it's just too bad people realize this only after being raked over the coals with all the price hikes. In my opinion there are a few good reasons to rent a storage unit. Other than that it's people just wanting storage and getting invested without reading into it. Ultimately it's our over consumerist culture that drives the need for more and more storage facilities to pop up. If you got more things then can fit in your home, there is a problem. Be smarter people.
