Yeah, I think the canon explanation for a lot of these early season power boosts that never come back is because Jake has no attention span *established in-series* and Finn was so young/no attention span (and lack of appropriate emotional and mental guidance at this point in his life) that they both just ended up forgetting how to do most of this stuff due to not using it for even a few days *no retention*, That said the weird magic items and such they accumulate, that stuff can be seen again, but they treat all that stuff as treasure and just horde it in their house. Like the stuff already seen lying around in there that you'd think would be useful on adventures. They are both like "this is neat" and then get bored and set it down in their house and forget about it.
Sadly, yes. This is the only time where the ice ninjas appear.
Alongside the other gimmicks such as Jake's imagination powers; the powerful lady armor; and the Jake's power to concentrate all of his inners on his thumb (why so much Jake stuff?)
Eh Jake being able to control his organs comes back one more time in the Memow episode.
Adam Muto once explained that Finn and Jake didn't have enough time to actually commit any of the incantations/hand movements to memory, which explains why those two never use them again.

I love this ice ninja - gunther giving birth episode. I kinda hate thow how the gunther thing is relevent later on, while the ninja gimic is not t all.
MINOR spoilers:
Adam Muto once said that Finn and Jake didn't have enough time to commit any of the moves to memory, which is a decent enough in-universe reason as to why they have little-to-no relevance later.
Finn gets a lot of cool things he uses only once now that I think about it
That seems right, I always assumed they forgot the ninja thing, like they just had a "ninja obsession phase" and it went off.
Here's a fun little Easter egg. Almost every doctor or scientist in the show has a tiny creature hanging out in their pocket. These tiny creatures are called scientific parasites, and leech on scientific knowledge. Doctor Princess and Princess Bubblegum (while wearing her lab coat in episode 1) have had them.
Yup its a really funny easter egg and its never highlighted in the show

This is my favorite episode of the whole show, is just insanely funny and on top of that, in Spanish Latin America they add a narrator at the end, as many old movies of sort, saying "Pelicula producida en Burbank California".
With that it was one of the best ways to end the episode.

Jake's "ice clones" were lighter in color and none of them had the black headband that Jake was wearing.
On the desktop of Ice King's holographic computer the eight folders shown are labelled: Secrets, Roms, Misc, Drawings, Untitled Folder, Princesses, Muscles, and Gunter's Stuff.
In this episode, Finn is shown to have cleithrophobia (fear of being trapped).
One of the Ice King's ninja posters is titled "Deadly Pressure Points" and shows a labeled diagram of a penguin's anatomy.
Episode connections
Finn wears his sweater and Jake wears the same booties in the Ice Kingdom as they did in the animated short.
When Finn discovers the ice ninja manual, Jake is seen playing with an unusual sai that contains a blue eye in the moto. Finn steals an identical pair of sai in "City of Thieves" when he is preparing to get revenge on Penny.
Cultural references

The promotional art where Rebecca Sugar wears a forehead guard from Naruto. The symbol on it is the symbol of Naruto Uzumaki's home-village,

The hand signals that both Finn and Jake use are a reference to Hand Seals from Naruto, used to channel chakra and create different jutsu, or elemental attacks.
The fake Jakes are a reference to Kagebushin no Jutsu (Shadow Clone Jutsu in English), they also leave smoke clouds when destroyed.
The entire concept of "fridjitsu" could be based on Haku's Ice Style Ninjutsu from Naruto.
When Finn refers to Jake as his "shinobro" this is a reference to the Japanese word for ninja, which is "shinobi."

Production notes
In one version of the episode's storyboard, Gunter's offspring was going to be a hybrid Ice King/penguin creature; however Adam Muto explained that he originally drew a glowing kitten, but Thurop Van Orman wanted it to be an Ice King/Penguin offspring, which they thought would be a "cool gross-out moment." Cartoon Network vetoed the idea and it went back to being a kitten.
