To update a Carminat device you need to have TomTom HOME installed on your computer. You can find more information and download the installer here:

We have a Smart Car - I have honestly given up trying to update the existing 2018 system. Good luck to you all - Personally I have never experienced such a complicated ill conceived system in my life.
the update on the card for my 2010 now when back in the car says the new Europe map 928 is not compatible. how do I fix this?
Is it so hard to say "you will need to purchase a map to continue using your device". I don't know if I should buy one or not bcos the letter I got said it's simply an update to a signal change

How do you make the letters go from CAPITAL, to Non Capital?
I'm trying to login to the Live Services bit, but the keyboard wont change the from caps, to non caps. Preventing me from logging in.
I have a intermittent fault with the voice coming and going on my Garminat tomtom.all other aspects of sat nav work just the voice problem, volume is ok.help
Will buying the update make the screen look more modern or will it just look the same?
It is just for navigation data - it updates the outdated roads and routes on the system.
Is it possible to have this device removed and install a 7” or 9” apple carplay and android auto display.
Looking for some advice sat nav is showing me at a location 20 mile from where I am. Been this way for a week now.
Tried to reset say nav and install again didn't work and disconnected van battery still same.

we just bought a 2012 Clio which didn't have an SD card in the Sat nav. Can I just use TomTom Home to create a new card or is it more complicated than that?

If your built-in navigation device does not use an SD card, then it's not a TomTom Carminat. I'd recommend checking the manual and/or Renault website: easyconnect.renault.co.uk/

@TomTom Support it does use SD, but didn't have one present. I tried going to their site and downloading their data but it didn't work. Guessing it's obsolete
How can i have tunisia map in carminat?
I pay for map updates, and after my last update in tomtom Home, it wont start in the car! I hate this! I cant even set the time correctly!!! :(

There's no option that says "Update my Carminat TomTom" also WIndows wants me to delete the SD Card first, before I can access it
I had this problem until I realised that my SD card was locked. Unlock it and TomTom home will then be able to see it and give you the update option.
not a mention that you need to create an account
mine only shows two map options, it says : Problem with map, you can't use this map on this device:.......

So what are you supposed to do if you haven't got a card reader?
you can buy one for 1 $. All laptops has card reader on them.
I think to buy a new car, so that the TOM TOM Navigation to work. That's BULLSHIT !!!
why do you need to keep the engine running? the system can be turned on without engine running...
Not runing engine. Just push key before start. Simple

there is no Carminat option in the latest tomtom home.

The "Update my..." option will change depending on what device TomTom HOME recognises as being connected at the time, so if your Carminat does not show up when you have connected the memory card to your computer, you can see this page on our support site:

I followed instructions for an update on my PC downloaded to the memory card but now my car doesn't recognise the card. Very annoying!

My Carminat has lost all connection with radio and Bluetooth since update. Any ideas on how to resolve this? The radio still works but you can no longer see the radio station details etc on the screen.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a frustrating experience when trying to update. It sounds like you first got the SD card with the software update preinstalled? If so, after it has been installed, you need to swap back to your original card (where your map should remain unchanged) to continue using your Carminat.

USELESS!!! i just tried to update my map and buy a new map for my Carminat, then it just says Loading on the screen and never gets off of that!!! i have uninstalled and reinstalled TomTom Home and nope!! still wont get past the loading screen when i click on update maps!! why is your software absolutely garbage!?! why doesn't anything ever work?

I created the account. But have trouble logging in. Nothing happened after I clicked the "login" button. But can log in my account from the website so it's not a password issue

You need to run this program and after that put your SD card into PC
