My uncle got my late grandfathers gray DeSoto coupe in 1951. He picked it up in PA and drove to his new home/job in LA area to work at Hughes Aircraft. I would be blown away IF this was my grandfathers DeSoto.

Hard to believe they bought both vettes new and basically parked them in a garage for 49 years to just forget about them. Dennis made a great find on these cars.

I love that 73. I had a yellow 73 years ago until a dog ran out in front of me. I swerved to miss him but hit a tree. That was the end

@@normanclarin6668 I drove a new 76 Malibu with Firestone Tires home from RK Chevrolet and had two Front tires Blowout going up my Driveway, luckily the Dip caused them to Blow out and did not happen on the Highway.
I always buy Firestone tires because of their warranty they will not let you down.

Dennis. What I find so inspiring with you and your team is just how genuine you all are. It is refreshing how respectful you are with everyone and how you do not seem to haggle around pricing. As you stated in this video how you have “paid up” for these cars due to the storied past and the fact they were one owner cars. You understand the significance of these cars and just love watching. We live here in Michigan just outside Detroit as well. Opposite from where you found these. We love Corvettes and own 2. Keep finding and preserving these gems!!! 66 coupe 4-speed with 350HP small block would be a fun driver. Especially if geared right.
It is a 350 hp 327
There was four different ratios used with the L79.
M20 Wide Rato 3.36 standard, 3.55 optional
M21 Close Ratio 3.70 standard, 4.11 optional
and they ran great no matter what. I liked the M20/3.36 because at 70 you were at 3000 rpm and right in the powerband.
Denis, I’m a pure car enthusiast. I grew up playing with little matchbox cars in the late 60s and early 70s and when I saw them in front of me they were just I knew they were something special. I’ve had my share for poor kid you know but if you wanna give me a job, I’ll come work for you. I’ll leave my job, but you gotta have like a little top of barn kind of apartment for me or something lined up when I get there. I’ll be glad to work for you.

Was in Wylie Texas yesterday and seen the 3 cars on the car hauler at his Jeep dealership. Wanted to stop in and ask Dennis where that Italian/Pizza place is in Wylie he goes to but did want to bother the guys.. Anyway I went to Mod Pizza across the street... Just love these youtube videos Dennis puts out..PS that 66 Vette looks sweet!!
That DeSoto reminds me that my grandmother drove one of those back in the early 70’s. She sideswiped a city bus. Totaled the bus but only tore off some Crome on the DeSoto.

As a '73 original owner, I can attest to the fact that the front bumpers will crack and fall off with little provocation. i have always heard that the oil embargo was the culprit.. Without the proper amount of oil, the bumpers had no elasticity.

I seen the Michigan bicentennial license plate right away on the thumbnail and had to roll in and say this...
That was actually a thing here in Michigan where a husband worked for GM and bought new corvettes for him and the wife every few years. Over time that happened with dad 2 different times. In 1969 he was looking for a 1967 442. He found a red one and selling because two new vettes were on order and the guy learned they just came in. That guy worked at the GM tech center in Warren, MI and had that 67 442 warmed over royal bobcat style but for Olds.
Second time it happened was 1979. After watching smokey and the bandit dad wanted a trans am. He found a silver 76 t/a with a 455 and 4 speed. Similar situation the seller worked at GM and had just heard his 2 vettes just came in. Dad was in the right place at the right time when searching for a used car, but a certain rather special car and paid off those two times thanks to 4 new corvettes!

Dennis your in my neck of the woods, we live 30 minutes north of Wayne, i`m in Macomb County. We have a Coney Island on every corner. I get 3 coneys and a fry, and i`m done, great find on those Corvettes, be well my friend.
It's not like you sneak up on people unannounced but none of them are able to clear out their garages to give you access until you get there. 🙂🙂 Great work Dennis and team!!!!

Cool about the 73 is you can just install a 72 and older nose on it. 66 has over 100k on it by sludge on outside of engine. Great find 👍
I'm more of the purest. Especially when it comes to Corvettes. I don't like, when people make changes that aren't factory correct.
@@a.c.m.e.ink.4568 Funny thing is that all the car manufacturers started making these cars because the mechanics from WW2 came home and started making awesome cars and the manufacturers followed suit. That's why reso-mods usually bring more money than factory restored. I've worked in manufacturing and designed some awesome things just to have them, I'll call it, toned down to cut cost. In this situation most would rather have a chrome front bumper than a Neoprene bumper. I don't know a single person who doesn't like 68-72 corvette over a 73-81 corvette. So you can be a purist if you want. Just remember that factories depend on profits to survive when shade-tree mechanics do it for the love of it. 73-81 corvettes were just streamline grocery getters anyways my SUV is quicker than any of those years corvette 🧐
Valve covers leaking would cause that even at 30k miles
Another great find. But I think that you will find the 66 has a lot more miles on it than what it shows.

Man that 73 Corvette is cool. Probably my favorite year because when I was growing up my brother had a model of one that I loved. I'm glad the owner had the wherewithal to store the cars keeping them in such good condition. Nothing better than Coffee Walk on Friday afternoons to get us ready for the weekend. Space is a premium no matter where you live and it’s always mind boggling that in a suburban neighborhood would have 2, let alone 3, classic automobiles in fantastic condition taking up all the garage space……
I have always loved the 73 Vette. I guess it is because it was the first Vette that I ever got to drive. My freshman roommate in college in 83 had one, a 454 with a 4 speed.
Not too many 454's were produced, and they must be rarer than hens teeth today....it was Corvettes last breath of performance until the C5 came out in 1997.....I would love a 454 C3 4 speed!

Hey Dennis we have an original 1 owner yellow metallic 4 speed 2 tops, it was my dad's first new car, his alarm is located driver's side lower front fender, later productions got it there because gm was already making 74 parts and thats standard location starting in 74 lower driver's side front fender just went and checked
That is interesting, I've never seen the alarm anywhere but on the rear until 74. Guess the NCRS knows about this. 😀

the difference between Detroit style Coney sauce and chili, is no beans and its not too spicy. next time you com e to Detroit you gott a get either a Louie's Pizza or coneys from the legendary Laffayette Coney
I’m from North Carolina but visited Detroit in November 2023 to see the two nights of Metallica at Ford Field. We had Buddy’s pizza 2 times and it’s the best pizza I’ve ever had!! Nothing I’ve had since compares!

I find it remarkable that they know they have someone coming over to look at the cars yet they don't take the time to clear all that stuff out of the way before Dennis gets there.
I would have went to Antonio’s Italian restaurant on Ford Rd In Dearborn Heights. Some of the finest Italian cuisine anywhere. It’s not far from where you were at. I grew up around there but haven’t lived in Michigan for over 35 years. Joined the Navy in Wayne.
Personal opinion, but that Yellow '73 Is your best find yet. Favorite year, in a great color.
