been catching up on all of your old videos this past month, and i just wanted to say thank you for dedicating so much of your time to documenting your paintings and creative process and also the little clips of your routine and thoughts and such over the past 7 years - you are truly an inspiration, i admire you and your work a lot - another beautiful plein air today & happy spring 🌷
I really like when you do cyprus trees. I hope you do Lone Cyprus some time. That and the gazebo at Stow Lake when the flowers are in bloom. Those are my two wish list scenes for you to paint. Lol.
How the sky changes color at the horizon is so real and easy to miss. I also like how the shadows read across the sand. The whole painting is very nice!
i’ve been getting into your videos lately and i absolutely adore your style! i’ve been quite hesitant on using oil paints and have been avoiding painting in general (i mainly stick to traditional sketching). but you’ve got me curious in wanting to expand my mediums. definitely inspired by your pieces, i might have to give something a try! :)
Just want to thank you for going through the process and describing what you are looking for and putting down, color mixtures etc., on canvas. This really helps. Are you using liquin throughout the painting process or just towards the beginning? Thanks again so much.
Absolutely LOVE the sky, clouds and Water colors, gorgeous. It always amazes me how you can take a very simple scene and turn it into something one wants to ponder... :) Oh and the scene at the end of you painting with how different the light is, fantastic! really enjoying your Vlogs!
Thanks. I wouldn't say interchangeably, because they do different things. Ultramarine leans towards purple and phthalo leans towards green. I do use them simultaneously, either in the same mix or in separate mixes which then play off of one another.

Yes🎉🎉🎉
Great clouds, nice painting! Always interesting to see a great painting evolve from a simple scene
I really love this style of vieo- long form, no cuts, and super informative- it taught me a lot !!
Super cool to watch you problem solve in real time
You made an ordinary scene look awesome!
Good morning Michael. Love the simplicity of this composition. The subtlety in the clouds is masterful in my opinion 😊👍🏽
Good morning Miriam. Thank you 🙏
Love watching you work. Learn so much. Thank you☀️
Love the transparent darks on those trees.
Beautiful painting
Exquisite. The colors are in harmony. Peaceful and perfect.

I'm so glad you're finding my videos helpful! I use Liquin during the block in, but very little after that.

I paint inside with no wind 😁 but I always learn new things watching you paint in the wild 🌊🎨
Beautiful composition/painting, Michael!!!! I'm amazed at how you can remember the scene when it was well lit.
Thanks Kay! I've learned to take a good look at then scene when the clouds start forming 😊

Present, Sir 🙋
Lovely. I notice that you use Pthalo and UMB interchangeably for sky and water. How do you make that decision?
Thanks. I wouldn't say interchangeably, because they do different things. Ultramarine leans towards purple and phthalo leans towards green. I do use them simultaneously, either in the same mix or in separate mixes which then play off of one another.
Hi Michael 🙂
Hi Mark 😊
