  • I am so excited to share with you this original tune that I wrote after our trip to Scotland in 2012. For this #SlowAirSunday you will be joining us on our adventure to our first Bothy. After coming home from Scotland I was inspired to write this march. "Dulnashallag" captures the beauty and joy of being in the remote places of Scotland. This scenic walk through the Highlands is over a high open moorland of Strath an Eilich. I highly recommend this beautiful place for you to explore if ever you find yourself in Scotland.
This tune is a march lovingly named after the Bothy "Dalnashallag." Dalnashallag is also known among then locals as Carnegie's Bothy and is in close proximity of three Monadhliath Munros called Càrn Dearg, A'Chailleach and Carn Sgulain. The River Calder flows nearby this beautiful Bothy. My husband and I enjoyed walking through the Highlands getting to know the land. The beautiful rainbows, stunning streams and marshy landscapes made us so happy. The weather would go through every phase. One minute it would be sunny and warm and the next windy and raining. The sky was exciting! Clouds would move across the sky shifting the colors of the landscape. This was something we hadn't ever experienced in California!
What is a Bothy? A Bothy is a basic shelter that is scattered throughout the remote mountainous areas of Scotland, England and Wales. They are open to the public free of charge and have space for you to camp out, eat and warm up by a fire. Bothies are old ruined buildings (cottages)that have been restored to a basic standard providing the shelter from the harsh elements for the weary traveler. Public access to Bothies are by foot, Bicycle or Boat. Anyone is welcome into these cute quaint places as long as you leave it better than you found it.
Thank you for joining me on this incredible journey and following my channel. More great content will be coming in the coming weeks.
