    I love your videos. When I set up my 2000 W inverter and fuse, I bought an inexpensive set of jumper cables and cut off the clamps and used those wires as the cables. Saved a bunch of money by doing so. Sometimes you can find a pair of jumper cables at a yard sale for a couple of bucks and save even more money.

    Thank you so much for your focus on stealth! I've been following van dweller channels for a long while now and there are many who might start out stealth but move to an RV. I am fascinated with the idea of van dwelling for the sake of economy, living lean. The concept of never paying rent or mortgage, always staying somewhere for free is one way of beating the system and stickin' it to the man. Urban boondocking adds an edge because in the cities anything can happen, it's an adventure in living. RV living is too restrictive, Walmarts and retiree parks, you can keep em. Hope to see more of your van adventures.

    Hell I got my 2000 inverter at Auto-zone I did purchase a set if jump start cables I spend about $ 300.00 I did cut the cables in half spliced. Correctly to the back of the inverter . I do use the Inverter in my working truck as needed when ever I need to run my power tools . I just pop the hood clamp the cables positive to positive & negative to negative since I’m not using back up batteries I must keep the engine running while I’m working where is no power . Cordless tools get drained as well .

    voltage drop kills some of the wattage if your batteries were at the 13.4v or even 14.4v like when a car is running the cooker should be doing that 1300 watts. Since it's just using it right off the batteries and there is some voltage drop you gonna get slightly less power just like in car audio amps

    I like your style sure would like to have that system on my Prius/trailer combo? The smart thing would be to put your exact set on my trailer and leave the Prius the way it is. If I ever needed additional juice the Prius can shuttle power via jump cables to the trailer.
    Problem is I get only 20 mpg when I tow the trailer at interstate speeds. But I can get 38 if I keep it around 45.
    Keep rolling your video narrations are very energetic and upbeat I like that.

    I doing the same system, but I am confused exactly where you are putting the fuses. I see you put on positive wire, but where did you put the other one, and where did you put the other fuses? Thanks for info in advance

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  Před 9 lety

      K Butler you only fuse the positive wire not the ground wire. All of my other electrical connections are also fused inline but with small inline fuses.

    1000 watt and above over over stresses the alternator, a heavy duty alternator or duel alternator set up is required to last or you'll be replacing alternators often.

    • @contrerasmcr100
      @contrerasmcr100 Před 4 lety

      But alternators are usually over 50 amps no? How stressful can that be for it, your not even pulling more than 20 with his setup

  • @bjokey87
    @bjokey87 Před 9 lety

    CycleCruza I would install a couple of these power manifolds to the battery. It's more reliable because with your setup, you are more likely to have corrosion problems. And it's cleaner of course. Here is the 30 port version crimpsupply.com/battery-terminals-copper-lugs/30-tab-quick-disconnect-power-feed.html. They also have a 10 and 20 port version. You might be able to find something like this on Amazon.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  Před 9 lety

      Ben Huskey Corrosion from what? The battery box seals out most moisture and the battery terminals are made of brass so it's not likely there will be any corrosion. We'll see though. I'm done buying shiz for this van. lol

    Have you ever thought of wiring the vans alternator to the batteries, so when you are on the road the batteries are being charged by the van as well as the solar panels? That way they can get charged at night also/

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  Před 9 lety +1

      James Elliott Leaving van as stock as possible to avoid any problems. I should be able to get all the power I need from the 400 watt solar panels. The only things that use the most energy is the induction burner and microwave. The microwave won't be used all that much and if I do it will be during the day when the solar panels provide me energy. I may use the butane burner more if I see the induction burner is using too much energy. I will try to keep it to 15 minute or less meals with the induction burner. It's all about power management.

    • @SirISubscribealot
      @SirISubscribealot Před 9 lety

      That's fair enough, I was thinking more of in the winter when the nights are long and the solar panels will be less effective, in order to make sure the batteries don't go flat.

    you need to have a small generator and a battery charger so if their is no sun you can still charge your batteries. just syfen gas out of your gas tank. they have like 25 gallon gas tanks the van you have

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  Před 9 lety

      Ginger Smash I have a smart battery charger mounted on the side of the battery box and hardwired to the batteries. I have no room for a generator and don't want to draw attention from the noise it makes when placed outside the van but it could be a great option when out in the boonies. I may end up getting a small generator though. If I need a charge I will have to go to a RV park overnight, however, I plan on managing my power. I still have the butane burner that I will use as a back-up cooking source and for cooking at picnic tables at rest stops. Thanks for the smart tips!

    So not 0. Whats better 0 or 2? I have some guy that i might use to install my inverter and he said 0. But i just wan the best wires cause in the future i might get a 2500-3000 watt inverter

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  Před 8 lety

      +chris hill Well it depends how you will use the inverter. I will not use anymore than 1500 watts ever so 2 gauge is fine. However if you will be maxing a 2k inverter out than 0 is the best. For 2500-3000 watts go even fatter at 1/0 or 3/0 gauge if wire is less than 3 foot.

    ive got a 1000w peak2000w inverter and i wanna get a microwave possibly , would this thing be ok running it?

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  Před 8 lety

      +2dgamedev I can run a microwave fne but it uses a lot of power, 900 watts of power. Imo, a microwave is a waste of money and deadweight. I hardly ever used it on my last bug out trip. I built a custom cabinet since this video which accommodates the microwave but I'm taking the mcrowave out. If I had to do it over again I would have just kept the 1000 watt inverter to save money. I hardly ever use the inverter, only for the tv and it's voltmeter.

    I put a 350w in my GQ Patrol when i decked it out. Only had to Power a 19" LCD, Xbox & Flouro's. Did the job nicely, my fan was on all the time too (I think it's normal).
    I've done similar builds on my last 3 4wd's +1 paid job (video).
    Hey BTW, you end-up being the 'popular one' when camping.

      Maybe in the future but I'm cutting down on spending. lol I don't think I will need a generator with my solar set-up, the solar panels have kept my batteries topped off every day. We'll see though when I actually do a bug out trip.

    • @AnthonyBrusca
      @AnthonyBrusca Před 9 lety

      You're awesome, I gained so much respect that you respond to comments on videos. Maybe a long trip will be hard on power because of all the high draw systems but all you'll need to do to top it off is park it in the sun and go for a nice walk or ride. The batteries also give a nice buffer that you can use more than you generate for a little while. I thought you already had a generator, that's why I suggested it. Deuces!

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  Před 9 lety

      ***** Thanks! I try to answer as many comments as possible but I get a ton of comments and no time to get to all of them. We'll see how the power consumption goes on my bug trip that I'm preparing for as I type this. Of course I will keep you all updated. In the future, I'll probably get a little compact generator for emergencies when camping out in the boon docks.

      @lukenukem8936 Před 7 lety

      Osakwe Jindu 2000 watts (power) divided by the supply 12v, would equal 166.6, they probably don't make a 170 amp fuse so you would buy the next size up which is 200A for a guess

      Douglas Higbee You can work with the curve of the walls with tongue and groove planks by using a chisel and trimming to the inside curve part of the tongue.
      Might be a good suggestion for you, dunno. Some people have different plans for their build and don't want wood walls...

    • @higbeedoug
      @higbeedoug Před 6 lety

      Sorry, I was vague in my request. I was seeking the floor covering, or grey stuff he used as carpeting. Is this simple carpet? I'm dong my walls/ceiling and want to use a simple grey fabric covering, but one that stretches in order to work within the curves and shape of the walls/ceiling. HD carpet I have, and that ain't it; won't stretch to intricate contours. Know a product out there?
