  • Locomotion is the movement of an organism from one place to another in search of food or shelter or partner or to escape from its predator.
The locomotion in Protozoa is brought about by various types of cell organelles viz., pseudopodia, flagella, cilia etc. Based on the type of locomotory organelle, locomotion in Protozoa can be categorized into 4 types - Amoeboid locomotion
    - Flagellar locomotion
    - Ciliary locomotion
    - Metabolic/Contractile/Gliding locomotion
As the name suggests, Amoeboid locomotion can be seen in Amoeba and many other Sarcodine protozoans, which is brought about by pseudopodia.
In the same way, Flagellar, Ciliary and Metabolic type of locomotions are brought about by Flagella, Cilia and Myonemes respectively and these locomotory organelles are to be seen in different protozoans.
