  • Time to upgrade the boat trailer tail lights to LED's. In this video I swap out the old bulb lights to new LED submersible lights on my Trailstar trailer for my Tracker Pro Team 175 TXW boat. This video is only on the tail light change out.

    Hands down one of the best trailer light videos on You Tube. You did a great job presenting and showing what to do. Thanks for sharing and great work!! If you were in the Olympics....you would get the gold medal!!

      Hey Byron! Thanks so much for the gold medal 🏅 presentation lol. I really appreciate your comments. Way too kind. I'm happy you enjoyed the video and found it useful. I try my best to present things in a manner that is easy to follow and understand. Maybe they will add making videos as an Olympic sport lol. Thanks and take care!

    I would have cut the plug from the old light and attached the new light to the plug old. It would be easier to bring the plug and new light into the house or shop to do the splices. Also if you want to replace it in the future, you can easily unplug it and work on it inside (or do any tests with a small power supply or battery).

    I'm 77 and have rewired houseboats, motorcycles, Trillium trailer's, and always wanted one of those stripper tools. But I decided to instead, invest the price of that tool into a few pints of Guinness.

      I'm happy I bought the tool. Makes life much easier. Thanks for watching. Cheers!

      @@X2OOutdoors I have been struggling with the wiring on a 2014 Trillium 4500. I studied the diagrams on the Bargeman schematic vs the RV Standard. I finally figured it out by reversing the green and brown (right turn/brake) and the red and green (left turn/ Brake) the wiring hooked up according to diagrams left one light or the other dull. I think this started when the previous owner replaced the right tail light. Hope you have good fishing on the upper looper.

      @@Squarekn0t awesome job! Nice when you can figure out those problems. I don't know much about that stuff. If its a straight forward replace I'm good. I can troubleshoot some things but if I can't figure it out I will call up one of my buddies. Always good to have one of them in your pocket :) Cheers!

    What other additions or changes have you made to your Tracker? I also had to replace my taillights. Here’s one of what I added: LED strip lights (Amazon) to the entire deck and inside all compartments and the live well, 3rd (DC) battery and battery selector switch, bilge pump automatic float switch, additional depth finder (now have 3), replaced trailer bunks and side rails and covered with Caliber wrap, LED lights to bunk support posts, hour meter on motor, tethered drain plug, longer transom saver, spare prop and tools, waterproof storage containers,etc. Love the boat but wish the storage compartments were waterproof. My boat had flooded a couple of times from extreme weather and everything in the compartments got soaked from rising water in the hull.
    You might want to carry a spare trolling motor pull or at least some 550 paracord to make a replacement cable. The MinnKota cables don’t hold up well. I’ve had 2 break in only a few months.

      Hey JT. You did quite a few things there! I haven't done as much as I would like lol. Damn pandemic slowed that process down. I like some of the things you did. Never heard of the caliber wrap so I checked it out. Looks like a good product. I just blew out a bunk so I will be replacing both. Besides the lights I replaced the tires on trailer. Moved my Helix 7 to the front end and reconnected my old lowrance. Did some other small things. Just don't want to spend the money right now when I don't need to. My MinnKota has a plastic wrapped steel cable on it. It's solid. Previous owner installed it. I hear you on the storage thing. Generally its been pretty good but has gotten wet in the past. Sucks having to pull everything out to dry it up. I would love to do the led lighting like you did and add another battery. One thing at a time :)

    Have the same issue with my trailer lights , every time I go into the water bulbs stop working ! How much u paid for those lights in Canadian tire ? And did u have any issues so far ? Thanks for great video …

    • @X2OOutdoors
      @X2OOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      I believe the cost of the lights was around $65 on sale. It was long overdue for changing them to decent submersible lights. So far no problems. Still going strong! Thanks for watching!

      * Sea-Doo Stop: By unplugging your trailer lights before backing your boat into the water, you may help solve the bulb problem.

      @@jjsq22 where do you live? I'm in Canada and bought them at Canadian Tire. The brand was Motomaster. If you're in the U.S. you surely won't find them there. There's lots of good brands you can use. I did my research on these and read reviews before I purchased.

      Honestly I don't have money to burn but what would you suggest for someone who was living in an apartment at the time and had no where to park it? I got the place super cheap and it was temporary so you assume I have money? I wish.

    Two left lights are about as useful as two left shoes. 😜
