2013 ford Focus: Removing / Installing full fascia and head unit car stereo

- GLTICH at 3:15 - The screen goes black and audio is lost for a moment. It was just me saying "Now we have to get the screen out as it's secured separately to the fascia"
Fairly important bit of information there, sorry about that glitch!
Anyway, I bought the fascia and head unit as one pre-assembled kit.
Pros:
- Cheap upgrade, purchased entire head unit and stereo online for about $US200
- Massive improvement in sound quality
- Very visible and convenient GPS
Cons:
- Screen too reflective, sunlight gets in your eyes at certain times of day
- Pretentious dummy buttons to avoid featureless surface
- Original voice-activation system (Ford Sync) no longer operational
- Canbus works but steering wheel control controls are haphazardly organized - Hudba
Ah man, that trick with the cards for the little plastic piece worked perfectly! I usually waste a few minutes fiddling with it to get it, but tried it with the cards and it popped right out, so thank you! 😂 saved me time

So on the 2013 Focus ST with ST1 trim - once the bar is removed there are 2 screws behind it with torx heads - once they are removed the unit came out. In my case - the stereo was loose and i wanted to see the issue. On the back there are 4 other torx screws holding the stereo in place and they go into plastic fittings - the 2 at the top had broken away. Waiting on the krazy glue to set and we’ll see if this works. Hopefully an upgrade in the future…
You're a lifesaver!
The top screen can be unplugged and removed buy simply swinging the two ears (one of each side of the plug) downward. They act as a cam lock to wedge the connector into place. If you pause at 6:11 you can see one of the ears/tabs on the side. Put a finger on each one and press down in that position you have it in that shot and that will unplug the screen.

I actually took the top unit out that you left in but have lost audio from the rear parking sensors .I think how you have done it has made the parking sensors still work for you is that correct ?, as from doing alot of reading that unit makes those sensors work .The only way around getting parking sensors back if you take that top unit out is to fit a rear camera and connect into the android system . Leaving that unit in have you got full functions of the car was there anything that didnt work correctly ? . Also did you have any issues with FM radio or did you fit a DAB usb adapter and if you did , did you connect it to the black or white aerial connection ( fakra ) please thanks .Having quite a few issues to sort .
How is a CD now played? Or is it now CD incapable?.

Hi! Great video. One doubt, is headlight detection for brightness adaptation working to you? I have a similar unit and it detects as the headlights are ON always 😢😢
Mine doesn't give me any feedback about the lights (as far as I know!)

Been a year since this video how do you find this unit and has it still lasted and doing well?
The unit is ok but the shiny plastic surface is way too reflective, it's a real issue.
What about the back up camera how you connect that?

Yes I thought there was actually quite an improvement. The angled screen reflect the sun in my face sometime though, something I should have mentioned in the video.

No I don't think it did - I sold this car a while back so I don't remember 100%, but I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

There’s no CD player on this particular stereo sorry! But you could just buy the fascia by itself and choose a different stereo.

Some variants of this unit have Carplay. Just check the listing carefully.
near the bottom it has a white sqaure with three wires black red and white , they have nothing on the ends or anything. just bare wire. where do they go??
at 304 those three wires in the green box

Yes, they continued to work.

Where do you put the three wires on the new facia?
I didn't put them anywhere, and it all seemed to work fine. Those extra wires might be for certain connections that the basic ford focus doesn't have. I'm not sure!

I've got one too and it's acting up something awful 😭 Randomly switches between radio mode to CD mode etc. CD player is always trying to reject a disk that isn't there. I hope I can fix this myself, I know a shop won't be cheap.
