  • JCB is the inventor of the telescopic handler concept, and it is fitting that its innovative new JCB 540-200 Loadall has claimed the crown as Europe highest-reaching telescopic handler.
Capable of lifting a 1,500 kg load to its full 20 metre work height, the 540-200 model features a five-stage boom and benefits from JCB's exclusive LiveLink telematics system.
In this exclusive Walk Around -- filmed at JCB's Top Secret test centre -- Diggers and Dozers gets the low down on a machine that has quite literally raised the bar.

Hi this is for the makers of jcb.my job just bought one and i does opperate it what i find they should do is add a digital scale the function of this machine showing the load that u have on the boom .and while u booming out at such hights and distance u can use you chart along with the readings on the digital ibs meter for safe operating

its a cool machine, i used to work agency labouring for Taylor Wimpey and they had this for hire for most of the build on a block of flats until a mobile crane was the only option left, crane driver on £100 an hour but forklift operator was only getting £12 so they used this as much as they could lol

My husband says when he worked for a company call The Liner Concrete Machinery Company Ltd in the 1960's they fitted a telescopic boom to a Rough rider dumper chassis and called it the Giraffe. Sadly the directors of Liner thought there was no future in this type of machine. What a miscalculation!!!

Or just get qualified banks men. Introduce radio contact. Trained and competent comes to mind

I'm operating one of these machines at the mo, and it can not pick up a load of 1500 kg at full reach, no where near it. More like 200 kg which I do believe is the same as the 540-170. Any idea why that is?

Well, for every one metre that you extend the load, the weigh doubles. e.g. 1 tonne at 1 metre = 1 tonne. However, 1 tonne at 17 metres = 34 tonnes. There for, the load capacity massively decreases at full reach.

I think he meant that it can lift 1.5 tonnes at max height, not max reach.
