If you're an NPJ fan, this Neal Purchase Jnr DUO (Dual Single Fin) Surfboard Review is for you! Unlike anything else you've seen or ridden, NPJ's DUO crosses into a grey area between single fins and twin fins and creates an entirely new feeling of ride.
While the ride is different and special, however, this board is not a novelty design. It's very capable as an all rounder although it really lights up when the waves are good, powerful and hollow!
I hope you enjoy this Neal Purchase Jnr DUO (Dual Single Fin) Surfboard Review!

Saw a few of these at the Deus shop in Canggu! I had no idea what was going on with them so it's great to hear how they surf

what about channging the fin sizes to match the different surf conditions? Over all, it looks like a borad I could definitely get into for general surf conditions where Ilive and might blow a few minds in the process, hehe!

Just a thought if you stream lined it think that would work good for a tow board....

Interesting, windsurf boards went through this kind of a fin design configuration. It seemed to help cavitation and associated spin out when pressing hard on the back foot.

it's pretty much the standard twin fin setup on windsurf boards. loads of grip

Great video! What about the size of the fins? Are these smaller that the one you would ride on a single fin surfboard of the same dimensions?

Thanks for the review. Can I ask your height/weight? Would you ride these a bit longer than your typical shortnoard?

+Mark Valenta Hey Mark, of course! I'm 6'0 and 105kg's. I usually ride a shortboard at 6'3/6'4 so this is a tad smaller at 6'2. Originally, Neal wanted to make this one a 6'0 but I wanted to have a bit more length given he feels it works best when the waves are a bit bigger and better

+CompareSurfboards.com Cool, thanks for replying. I'm 5'10" and about 175 lbs. NPJ is making me a 6'6" for Ocean Beach, SF. With 4/3 wetsuits almost year around, the strong currents and big tide swings, I think 6'6" will work great. By the way, you should do a review of some of Danny Hess' models: hesssurfboards.com/shapes/ I have the Moraga and it flies.

you don't know much about the fins set up, then? That bit gave no info at all about the concept of placement or what it does.

Can't believe I watched as much as I did, six years late at that but I've Been wanting to try one of these, the guy talked so much but said very little.
Look at 7:05 and tell me, don't those fins look kina lumpy or did somebody be feeling it up with greasy palms? Gross you shout be ashamed.

  • @davesimmons6517

This is a stupid idea for a surfboard. Two deep fins positioned like this will stiffen the board's Pivotel turning response . AND I HATE THAT.

you'd be surprised my friend. It has more speed/drive than you think through turns. These things can go vertical when you want em to
