    Yeah a compression test is your best bet, only thing I can think that can leak alot of oil is bad piston rings, bad vavle stem seals, or bad head gasket. Just because your exhaust doesn't smell sweet or u don't have coolant in the oil doesn't mean it's not a head gasket, just a very small leak.

    That “knock” was a misfire being audible through the intake, it wasn’t a knock. Your plugs look dead so for a start replace as you can barely see an electrode. You may have a bad valve, head gadget failure or broken piston ring and these issues may explain the burning oil along with the white “water” smoke from the tailpipe.

      @giolascala7  Před rokem

      Yessir I believe you are correct. I think i have a bad head gasket, causing the valve to end up making that “knock” sound. I didn’t think it was Rod knock but I know any time you hear a noise like that come out if your engine, you’re pretty much screwed😂

    Check oil levels and check coolant levels(if coolant is being lost at a simi fast rate its a head gasket) and do a oil change and look for metal or shiny bits in the oil, if u have a oilfilter cutter, cut open the old oil filter and look for more shiny stuff, that will tell you if your having metal on metal. Next run a exhaust leak test in your coolant, they sell kits that your put on the top of your coolant reservoir and if the liquid inside changes color then your head gasket is sadly done for. If it doesn't tho them see if you can look in the cylinders then selfs to see how much oil is in them and even if u can see where it's coming from. If not that's fine. If the cylinder walls are all scratched up it's fair to assume the piston is slapping which would cause that knocking sound. My guesses tho are either your ring are shot or it's your head gasket, idk for sure but keep us up to date and hope this helps

    Had this issue with a miata 1.6, and it was an injector stuck OPEN, quick way to check is to apply 12v to each injector to check if you get a "click" , no click, stuck.

    if it smells like gas. It's gas.
    You'd know if it was gas coming out your exhaust.
    White smoke is not oil. Oil smoke is blue or gray. I'm 99% sure you have a head gasket leak. Some white smoke is normal from condensation in your engine and pipes, but what you have is THICK dense smoke, which is a good indication you have coolant in your cylinders.
    For the sparks and ignition coils. If you have the money, I would just replace all of them. Get them off FCPEURO, they give you lifetime warranty on all their parts. $230 gets you 6 OE coils and NGK sparks.
    Check your fuel injectors. Get a compression sprayer used for gardening at a box store. get some fuel hose on it and hook the injector to it. Fill the container with injector cleaner. pump it to pressurize then hook a 12v battery to the injector leads, polarity doesn't matter. Check the spray pattern on them.
    If any of them are busted or stuck open it will either not spray at all or will drip/spray just under pressure without battery.(Second one could be why you're running rich.)

      I definitely agree. The car actually just got towed to a BMW specialist shop. I think it’s the head gasket. Rebuilding the engine is stating to look like a reality

    Ouf its too many Facebook mechanics here i see... I have had 3-4 friends with this exact m54b22 dobbel vanos engine and i can tell you right away that before you buy any head gasket tester you can take off the disa valve and maybe the throttle body and take a flash light in there and your nose and see and smell after signs off present coolent in there even by a drop off it. If it doesnt even smell sweet like coolent in there then you can just write off all these dudes saying its the gasket ...
    Now i didnt get to know what was the result off you switching the ignition coils in cylinder 2 and 6 but if you did switch them to lets say 1 and 5 and you still got missfire in cylinder 2 and 6 then it could be an fuel injector or as said by your uncle as you said in a comment here that compression test is the next thing to do as off it may be bad piston rings and biggest possibility to be the lowest one that lets oil get in to the combustion chamber...
    Also dont waste time on cleaning those plugs, just replace them with oem bmw types of NGK ones as the second best Quality types as there was hardly any electrode on any off them left after what i could see on them.
    Also as you probably know any fluid or anything that isnt spark fuel and air that gets in to the cylinders while the engine is running, will disturbe the combustion witch can then lead to this type off missfires you are experiencing...
    I Myself thinks the engine are burning oil from ether the valve cover gasket or from bad piston rings but its definitely Burning oil, checked the oil lv?

    • @giolascala7
      @giolascala7  Před rokem

      Oil level is in the operating level. But I think the biggest possibilities are the piston rings as you said or the head gasket still. I know you said it isn’t the head gasket, but there is also lots of water coming out of the exhaust. Take a look at my second video, where my car gets towed. I show all the water on the ground

    • @thomasbacker8162
      @thomasbacker8162 Před rokem

      @@giolascala7 iknow wich is kinda weird also cause if it leaks anywhere but from the exhaust it is totalt different part in the cooling system that is broken but since you also get water out off the exhaust, i therefore think its a good idea to both take a compression test and this headgasket test as someone mentioned earlier here👍 good luck👍 easy engine to take out if needed 😊
