It's actually refreshing to hear you guys talk about your anxiety. Comedians are the same way. Even sports people! The Tom Brady talked about that in one of the 70 Netflix docs about him. He said something like "The fear of losing is so huge." The GOAT feels this!!! We all have, if not "imposter syndrome" then at least a "Negativity Bias". Just remember everyone, you're not imposters!!! Keep rockin'.

A little bit monochromatic to mainly focus on the benefits of AI. The problem is not what jobs its gonna replace that people already dread. The problem is what jobs its gonna replace that people really love - to which there are many ... especially in the creative fields. The real question to ask is what would positive AI tools look like. Tools that empower creators, instead of disempower them.
We appreciate you watching and engaging. Very often topics around AI revolve around the draw backs, so we like to focus on the benefits of AI.
I appreciate that and there are many benefits. The problem is the window for having more critical discussions is narrow, since field is moving so fast. So it may be more comfortable just leaning back and seeing it replace creative fields, but at what cost. This podcast could be replaced too and then what? Still gonna be talking about positives only? Sorry for pushing, but you guys have our ears and attention. It’s important to approach is critically - especially in next few years as we are shaping it. Ethically responsive development versus a few tech bros ripping everything off and burning down multiple industries - when it could all be done with grace.

RE: SORA - I think we are all in for a giant disappointment. The initial stuff used hours of computer time to produce a few minutes and the more recent stuff is obviously using less and less and looks worse. I kind of agree with Matt.
I don't think regular users will get access to the power that was needed to produce the initial demos for many years. We will be given a stripped down version on par with Runway, Pika, Imagen, etc.
It will definitely be interesting to see what everyone gets access to! You may be right on the limitations!

Besides a handful of wonky ads and psychedelic music videos, how is AI video transforming Hollywood production right now?
Honestly, there seems to be a huge public backlash anytime it's discovered that AI was used in some touchup work or a background scene, etc.
While clearly not being used as the main visuals, AI is being used everywhere from the storyboarding, scriptwriting, and even some background scenes.
but y'all use AI 😂
We use it for tons of things!
