    Jingle shells-make beautiful jewelry, glue on strands of fairy lights and make a wall or curtain of several strings of them, fill a clear vase with jingles and bury fairy lights inside, string together for wind chimes. I love your adventures!❤TN Nana

      Thanks!!! I have fairy lights hanging in my living room on a string that runs the whole length of the window kinda like a curtain with downward strands. I think I’ll put jingles on that. Thank you so much for that idea and thank you for watching! I have so much to share 😍❤️

    You found BEAUTIFUL shells! My Mom and I are coming down to Marco Island the first week in June, for a week. We cannot wait! We have a shell tour with Treasure Seekers Shell Tours also.. My bucket list shells are Alphabet Cones, Lace Murex, Gaudy Nautica, Apple Murex, Rose Murex, and of course a Junonia 😍 Our first trip to SW Florida was to Sanibel Island.. Fell in Love with The Gulf Coast and was heartbroken when our trip was cancelled because of Hurricane Ian. This is our favorite place in the World! Next year we’re planning for 2 weeks on Anna Maria Island 🏝️!! TTFN 👋🏼 ❤

    I'm so obsessed with shelling but never had opportunity to do so. I'm in Texas!

    We were there for the dredging shelling back when they were closer to the Lido Beach Resort where we stayed, but the construction crew had all the piles blocked off with a security guard standing guard. Absolutely ridiculous.

    • @FloridaBeachWalks
      @FloridaBeachWalks  Před 6 měsíci

      Oh no! That IS ridiculous. What I have come to learn over the past few years is that they block the access off for safety BUT I think the bigger picture might just be $$ because in the sand separation process ALL those shells are money and get trucked off to go as foundation or under roads. The piles we were looking through naturally washed up in massive amounts due to all the water action in the dredging and there was a big storm but yeah they were “moving” in the direction we were at so I could see how they would close that off. If these were only the “good old days”…I have access to shell books (at a friends house) that has a section on dredging and how people could just walk all around the trucks, piles and just help themselves - shrimp boat yards too❤ A resident of Sanibel was telling me that when they used to dredge when she was a kid they would all stand at the end of the sorter and grab at all the shells falling off…..if only!!!! But people that go “too far” risking their safety and the safety of other that have help ruin the process along w/companies trying to keep all their profits of shell hash for sale 😢

      @@FloridaBeachWalks Yes, it is a liability issue, however, when the guys are on a break or are done for the day, it shouldn't be an issue. If nothing else, drop a few buckets full of sand/shells with their heavy equipment beyond the construction netting for us to explore. I did hear they did that later on in the project.

    How do shell piles get that big?

    • @FloridaBeachWalks
      @FloridaBeachWalks  Před 5 měsíci

      At that time they were dredging in Big Pass (an inlet) which was about a mile (or so) south of the beach I was at; pumping that sand the took from that inlet and putting it back up on the beach to make the beach longer and there were a few storms that kicked up while they were doing this. With all that sand being sucked out of the inlet the water stirring up shells w/in the sand, the storms and the current....MASSIVE piles were washing up in a particular area at Lido. It was pretty epic. Made the news and everything - this event was "not a normal" happening of how shells are washed up. Typically after a good storm or hurricane, yes, large piles can be found but nothing like what happened there! It was amazing! If you have the time check out part 1 the piles were much larger than that of part 2. Take care and thx for watching.
