  • String Murmurations, from new developer The Crow Hill Company, provides superb realism and instant scoring results under your fingertips. It’s an unorthodox approach to sampling, firmly focussed on human performances and a streamlined interface.

A rare and insightful review, critical in exactly the right ways, thank you!

Wow... As an indie filmmaker who dabbles in soundtrack composing, this is truly inspirational. Excellent demonstration, too. Thank you!

I have the younger brother, small string textures. Essentially, both are great composition tools.

Christian is determined to get us to write better strings arrangement. Can actually see the GUI. Must upgrade my DAW to play vst3 though

I love it, but tend to use the straight patches and granular ones most of the time and only use a couple of the gestures for colour. Still worth it overall though.

That aspect of the library is less obvious but just as good as the fancy stuff, I agree

I think they make quality work. However in general, I'm not too fond of these kind self playing instruments. It may be easy to spot in a track. Also I feel like we don't are in fully control. I think it's a good complement but not as the only solution. Spitfire and Fracture Sounds make similar libraries. I understand why people like this stuff but I am more and more drawn back to have full control.

right there with you. But theres a market for that, and no doubt, sounds amazing. I too, however, like a higher degree of control too

Its nice to have full controll on a library, but you need high and multiple skills to make it sound like String Murmurations...i own many top libraries, but this is a perfect tool for a composer / producer to help achive some nice strings fast and easy

@@MrGreekBlade Fair enough. I guess we approach things differently.

I think if you have two keyboards or a split, and (live) play another instrument over or with this, you might be able to make sone incredible minimalist stuff. Thinking of a stone xylophone (lithophone?) or a toy piano…

I find this library very useful, for me it’s definitely a very effective under score tool which exhibits great variation options . The mode guide is a great feature. Excellent review spotting the subtleties of this instrument. 👍🙏🎶🫡

Thanks - there are certainly some very appealing subtleties on offer here
