  • The National Association of Realtors (NAR) has been involved in multiple lawsuits over the way agent commissions are set. As of March 2024, NAR offered a settlement to resolve these lawsuits, which claim that NAR's policies have increased commission prices and harmed home sellers. The settlement came after a federal jury in Missouri found in October 2023 that NAR and other large real estate brokerages conspired to force home sellers to pay homebuyers' agent commissions, which violated federal antitrust law. The jury ordered the defendants to pay $1.8 billion in damages, but the settlement amount was reduced to $418 million. In April 2024, a federal judge in Missouri granted preliminary approval to the settlement, but final approval is required in November. If you haven't been keeping up to date, watch the full video!!
