I mean I'm the type of guy if my compressor blows up I wanna buy a new compressor than a entire unit😂 **even tho I didnt watch the comment will still help with the algorithm

    You are one of the very few HVAC guys that knows how to run a clean torch tip! Also sounds like the gas pressures are correct also, I am an aircraft mechanic that had to weld with Oxy-Ac,

    Only a good tech can make a repair. Any hack can take good equipment and through it in the junk . Those Rheem,Rudd, Weather Kings were good equipment .

    I have 37 years of experience in the field, and most guys these days only want to replace the entire system.

    Great work man. I wish they came out with that vacuum pump before I bought my Navac. They’re pretty awesome! I finally made my first heating and air video on my channel, hopefully I can reach a few people.

    They may save money now, but the unit being that old, they will be paying a lot more in the long run due to it being less efficient and more leaks are likely to show up again before long.

    Good work👍 but if the leakage is close to metal part of condenser.
    It is better to carefully melt the surroundings of metal part touching copper u and then solder copper part
    No callback no complains .

    • @subcoolHVAC
      @subcoolHVAC  Před 7 dny +1

      You realize the end sheet melts at a higher temp than the copper, trying to melt that would destroy the copper. Thanks for the comment though👍

    Great job, what was the smoke coming from the condensor? Dirty condensor or was it oil from then refrignant lines burning? Like your oldschool scale, i bet it will survive you!

    • @subcoolHVAC
      @subcoolHVAC  Před 9 dny +1

      It was a combination of leak detector liquid boiling off and may have been residual oil on the coil from the initial leak. Yep, the scale will outlast me 👍

  • @TrustedHVACR
    @TrustedHVACR Před 10 dny +2

    I would be challenged to do that without burning a hole through the copper … any suggestions?

    • @subcoolHVAC
      @subcoolHVAC  Před 10 dny +1

      Yep, clean the u-bend with sand cloth, small light flame and keep it moving with brazing melting over it. I use Stay-silv 6% . Had to stop the nitro because it was popping holes, but got it to close. You can do it. 👍

  • @RobertTuck-vo8cw
    @RobertTuck-vo8cw Před 11 dny +1

    Good job. I would bet that the evaporator coil has never been cleaned or even looked at. Also with that number of suspicious spots, the coil will leak in another place.

    • @subcoolHVAC
      @subcoolHVAC  Před 11 dny +3

      The evaporator was pretty clean, usually they rust on the end sheets. I’ve repaired many of these condensers like that. It’s the same spot most of the time . It’s best years are behind it for sure. 👍

      @@subcoolHVAC Crazy how rusty these evap coils can be. Is there any correlation between strict filter maintenance and leaks in evap coils?

    • @subcoolHVAC

    Hopefully no fan, capacitor or compressor goes out in the near future they might blame it on you, usually no good deed goes unpunished, I've done a a couple of less expensive jobs to help a customer out and BAM! they call back that their water heater, on other side of house does not work a day after I repaired the a/c, this really happened to me, just told them to go kick rocks.

    All depends on how much you charged them, if you go around making leak repairs for 500 bucks of course the owners will go with repairs.
