  • HINDERED PRAYER Neglect of mercy
For to him who has shown no mercy the judgment [will be] merciless, but mercy [full of glad confidence] exults victoriously over judgment. James 2:13 AMPC
The word translated mercy in the above scripture is from the Greek word eleos which conveys the thought of Kindness or goodwill towards the miserable and the afflicted, joined with a desire to help them. Still on the same definition in reference to men towards men: to exercise the virtues of mercy, show one's self merciful. About God towards men: in general Providence; the mercy and clemency of God in providing and offering to men salvation by Christ. It also speaks of the mercy of Christ, whereby at his return to judgment he will bless true Christians with eternal life.
We need to be merciful toward others. Don't be the reason why people are miserable. Do the best you can to show mercy, it is an attribute of God and God has created you in His image and likeness. People should experience the kindness and love of God when you are around them. They should feel that you are interested in helping them. You should operate in love not keeping a record of the ills that people may have done towards you. Give people opportunities to prove themselves and believe that they can change and become better people. Do not judge them based on your previous experience give them the benefit of the doubt.
If there is a person who owes you something it could be money or just an Apology make the choice to pardon them. Do the best you can to save and work on relationships. When you show mercy towards others you are planting in fertile ground. The Mercy you show does not benefit the person you are showing mercy to but profits you more. When you are merciful towards others you are guaranteed to receive mercy from God. Lack of mercy will bring stagnation, you will be stuck in the past not making progress. So for the sake of your progress and growth, you need to show mercy.
Try not to avenge yourself Scripture says that vengeance belongs to the Lord if a person does you wrong leave it to God to deal with them. When you choose to follow and the part of the hostility toward a person who would have wronged you, you will make yourself God and God does not take that lightly. Choose to be merciful even if the person is not looking repentant and remorseful. Do not worry about the person taking you for granted and walking all over you. Don't be the one to want to show people staff and be like you don't know who I am today I will show you who I am. It's not about you it's about the God that you serve if people should see anyone in or through you they should see God.
You also need to know that Jesus Christ showed us mercy when we were not deserving of it. Scripture records that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. We are benefiting from the mercies of God not because we did anything for God to bless us in such a marvellous way. It is purely out of God's mercies that we feel and experience the deliverance, liberation and preservation of the Lord. God protects us, provides for us and fights on our behalf not because we are deserving but because he is merciful. When Jesus was nailed onto the cross he had two options to show the wrath of God by calling a legion of angels to fight on his behalf or show mercy but Jesus chose to show mercy. Choose to show mercy today.
