Never been into Tomb Raider but that looked amazing. Definitely on my list for next year.
This is Lara when she was still in college back in the day and this is her first adventure that hardens her into the bad-ass that she is.
true, although in Assassin's Creed Revelations, Ezio took an arrow to the shoulder, caught in a grenade explosion, dragged on a carriage twice, fell from a cliff, so i guess we rarely just see our main characters beaten up
The showcasing of TR 2013 during E3 2012 was a massive success. I hope it'll be the same for E3 2015 when Rise of the Tomb Raider is shown. Even though the game is a timed exclusive (or a permanent exclusive), I hope the audience will show some respect to the people on stage and just enjoy the gameplay for what it is.
It would be stupid to make it a timed or permanent exclusive, they would lose too much money. Even with this timed Xbox exclusive deal it will have alienated some PS users. I just hope now it's been properly built with current gen in mind there will be a lot of new ways to explore.

I love how people are dogging on the older games, calling them unrealistic, while-judging from this gameplay video-this is probably one of the most unrealistic games ever developed. There is no way any human, let alone an unexperienced and unconditioned one, could survive any of the stuff she went through in this trailer. From sliding down the waterfall, to landing flat on a tree branch with your stomach. This game defines fantasy.
What I have seen when she goes on the cascade,she lost her bow. You can see when she is in airplain or she arround in another part of the game at final.
Available first on x-box 360, where there will be a million disks just to hold the data for the game
That's true. I didn't mean to say that this particular game hasn't learned from the Uncharted games and possibly took some similar ideas. I just wanted to make it clear that Uncharted, which came out later than other Tomb Raider game, also took ideas from Tomb Raider and that Tomb Raider wasn't just a copy cat.
You being a tomb raider fan doesn't justify or make your statement any more credible than it being bias. TR is iconic. Nothing can ever be as great as that.
This game goes off the gameplay of the first few Tomb Raider games where you had to find where to go and do mini puzzles and jump to certain places to pull levers (not to forget the tigers lions bears and underwater snakes and crocs that were shit scary back in the day) I think its going off the TOMB RAIDER experience and just turning into a shoot'em'up
Tomb Raider the series, not just one particular game.
To be fair although Tomb Raider came out first it doesn't mean they can't learn from what Uncharted has done in order to update the game and to keep it fresh. If anything it hardly matters since both games look brilliant.
Lara has an arrow bag on her back in the Final game but they removed the shotgun holster from the shoulder strap in the Final game.

this is the problem i got with aspects of games like this where you have the opportunity to be stealthy: whenever you perform a stealth kill and someone witnesses the guy dying (and doesnt see you) he/she immediately knows your exact position....

I JUST LOVE IT HOW they create games now feels like horror films i love how they make the games even much more dramatic and real like the last of us Rain bow six Patriots , spec ops the line AND MOST OF ALL FAR CRY 3 it reminds me of a horror movie named Eden Lake , so dramatic and sad but this is just how the world is sometimes
I personally dont dislike the change entirely.
But with that said its pretty clear that this game is meant to appeal to a younger audience. Lara looks younger, the gunfights are in the typical camera angle you see nowadays, Point A to B gunfights, Cinematic interactive cutscenes (which i personally love nowadays) etc etc.
Its ironic, it looks like its trying to be Uncharted, while Uncharted 'seemed' to want to be like TombRaider. The Ouroborus Syndrome..

Yeah, I know. It's just that I thought since they were moving a more gritty, realistic gameplay direction they'd do away with the supernatural elements. I'd love to see some type of monster show up in the game. To make things more interesting, you know

I dont understand why people can compare this to Uncharted. One: This game has a far more mature story line and feel. Two: Uncharted didn't 'claim' the modern format of action/adventure gaming. People see a gun fight or action scene, they immediatly look towards Uncharted. Four: I've played the demo, and the only similarity to UC that I see is the way the character interacts with the envirnonment, and UC wasnt the first to do that anyways...Both games are great, and neither game copied.

well thats true but steam on pc gives out a free trial of a certain game every weekend so u can actually try the game for the entire weekend before deciding if u wan to buy it. its alot similar to the PS3 concept
because she's still a tomb raider it's her job this is set when she is out of college after studying archaeologist also known as tomb raiders however the fact that she hasn't yet earned that title within this game it should have just been called Lara Croft.
Why can't you see a franchise spawning out of this? And actually I can see this game taking place somewhere else. This is how Lara became the badass we all know and probably how she discovered her tase for adventure which will lead her on her adventures. Those few lines I just wrote give the possibility of not only sequels but other locations.

Yeah, but there are supernatural creatures in Uuncharted; the Descendants in Uncharted 1, the Guardians in Uncharted 2, and Djinn were mentioned in Uncharted 3 even though you never saw them outside hallucinations.
Both TOMB RADIER AND UNCHARTED were influnced by Indiana Jones those movies layed the foudation for these types games. So really both games take their cues from that.
It's not about the realism; it's about how she's brand spanking (yes please) new to this sort of thing, but fully capable of pulling her gun up multiple times while flailing around like that.
Your right I can see critics complaining about to many cutscenes and action.. Give it like a 7.5

even the classic TR games had moments that you just had to kick some ass, this is one of those moments, there will be puzzles, this island got some secrets, not really sure about artifacts though.
You need to check the older ones...

The thing is, they tried to make it realistic from a point but you can 1-shot other people but can't die. They should fix stuff before release but still. AWESOME GAME.
i know, but i hope that before it does, there will have some new breakthrough and a console comes along that can actually compete with the pc so it wont be a problem :D
more to it than that, it also has way better controls and frames per second, and a higher resolution, almost every game on console is played at 720p (which is why the gun covers almost half the screen) and 30 frames per second, CoD is like the only game that plays at 60 frames per second, but you cant really tell the difference between 30 and 60 on a single graphics card even though they say you can, the lag comes in at 2 or more cards, but i play them all so of well lol
OMG finally we get to see some violent action gameplay. Now I cannot wait for this game to come out. SO pre-ordered

microsoft was going to put up a lot of money for it to be on the 360. The ps3 already has tons of exclusives already.
Thats why the microsoft press conference was all about third party games like this. The only well known exclusives for xbox are forza, halo, and gears of war.
While ps3 still has new exclusives coming in like the Last Of Us and another japanese rpg called Ni no kumi which is become popular.

i don't think the way the old tomb raider games played would be successful today i mean hardcore tomb raider fans would buy it but they have to appeal to the wider audience to get more money so they changed it to this which imo is pretty cool

The way you phrased it made it seem like you were referring to it as the game itself, not the franchise...so I got that mixed up. That was pretty much the only negative, if it even is negative since it was a misunderstanding, thing I said about your comment. I know the franchise has been around way longer than Uncharted. And I'm praising Tomb Raider for taking the survivalist aspects of an adventure seriously.
I believe that had to change it like since the game was not really selling much

Why can't people just respect the game for what it is? The drastic change is due to it being a PREquel, not a SEquel. It's not an uncharted rip-off because it came out BEFORE uncharted. She has mood swings because in her situation she has to do bad things with good intention, so she doesn't know if shes the good guy or the bad guy. And Lara isn't "sexy" anymore because the creators wanted to stop focusing on sex appeal and more on the game, which I HOPE most people think is a good thing.

Games aren't played because of how believable they are, even if they are supposed to be "down to earth" and I honestly feel sorry for those who think otherwise.

Its just that Tomb Raider has changed ever since unchanted came out. Its more similar to unchanted now. Anyway both games are amazing I suggest that you don't waste time comparing these games.
DARN-IT! I "thumbs up'ed" this comment because you are so good at writing and then i realized that you were saying something bad about the game. I respect that you don't enjoy the environment as much as you did in the other games, so I'm fine with that I guess. :D
This reminds me of resident evil 4 without the zombies. What happened to puzzles and adventure? Thats why Tomb Raider got so big in the first place. Hopefully its more like that in the later levels.
