    Easy! On mine, I didn't even need to remove the door lock/handle assembly or unplug the light. I was able to reach in and get those 3 armrest screws out. I ordered the whole OEM Honda part 83533-SZA-A03ZD (right hand door) from Amazon rather than just the material, so I could just snap it in and it matched perfectly. But it was about $95. Took me about 15 minutes for the whole thing.

      Came here to comment that you don't have to completely remove the door panel or the electrical stuff. 👍🏼
      Just need to remove the screws and pull the panel clips and you should have enough room to get behind there to remove the 3 screws.

    Replacing the armrest cover was less than an hour of work thanks to your thorough video. Just did the drivers side. I'll do the passenger side another day. BTW, I bought black covers to replace the grey ones. The color mismatch was obvious in your video, so I thought I'd avoid it by making it intentionally a different color. Since there's other black trim on the door, the armrest covers look like they were supposed to be black :) They look great. Thanks again.

    The entire door trim panel doesn't need to be removed from the door in order to complete this repair. (Your video helped me visual what I had to do.)
    After removing the three screws and the lower half of the door trim, the three screws attaching the armrest assembly can be loosened and/or removed using a short Phillips screwdriver with your arm between the door and the separated trim. Removal of the armrest assembly can be occur from above without removing the trim with the window controls. Just pull out the trim piece, repair or replace the vinyl/leather, pop the trim back into place, replace the 3 screws holding the armrest assembly trim to the door panel, and then reinstall the bottom of the door trim as you did.
    You can buy the armrest assembly for about $65 + shipping on line, so you don't have to take time to apply the loose trim as you did. Quicker that way. Kudos to one of the commenters above.
    Thanks again for the video!

      @@kathrynrodriguez7577 I'm sorry I don't have a video, I didn't think to make one. You can look at the posted video by Fixin It to determine the location of the screws needed to be removed at 0:35 -0:44. Removing those screws will let you pull the bottom of the trim out like shown at 3:23 - only pull the trim out far enough to access the 3 screws to remove the trim piece as shown at 4:00. Use a short Phillips screw driver so you can take them out while the panel remains on the door. Then fix the trim piece and reverse order to put everything back together.

    The inside handle was only opening about 3/4 of the way it should. Check how far the other inside handles open then check stuck door. I was lucky, I just pulled on the stuck door inside handle harder(trying to open from inside) and it popped open. The inside handle now opens normal like the other doors. @adamh7947 Před 2 měsíci

      @@randyhutcherson5637 it was a very very tricky situation. I was very lucky because my passenger door would still open by inserting the key. But at first, I could not figure out how to open my driver side door because nothing would work. The key would not work and the remote button would not work. I thought I was going to have to spend $500 on a locksmith or have the door sawed open. I had to climb in through the passenger side while I was trying to figure out how to solve this problem. It really sucked, but I did solve it. After a lot of study and time spent examining the wiring, I realized that the actuators for the doorhandle had been jiggled out of position when I was removing those door panels. The actuators are steel cables that attach to the cheap plastic door pull, but they attach in a very, very specific manner and if they are jiggled out of position, even by 2 mm the door cannot be opened after it is closed. It cannot be opened with the key and it cannot be opened with the key fob. I was lucky because I could still get in through the passenger side and after about 2 1/2 days of constantly working on this, I figured out how to put those two actuator cables back into the correct position and finally my key fob opened the driver door. It was definitely not intuitive as to how those two actuators are supposed to be placed correctly and I tried over and over again until I finally figured it out. I was extremely relieved. If it had been the case that my passenger doors were also stuck closed, I would’ve needed a locksmith.

    Really helpful video and I am gonna try this with my new armrest cover ordered from Aliexpress.
    I want to ask u, is it necessary to apply adhesive spray?

    • @fixinit
      @fixinit  Před 3 lety +1

      Probably not necessary but it’s the easiest way. You’ll have to staple it otherwise.

    • @norbertomontijo8673
      @norbertomontijo8673 Před 3 lety

      Yes the spray is the way to go for this repair. Staples is more for upholstery type work. This small piece will be fine with the spray adhesive. I’d use 3m spray. Also maybe use some surgical gloves or dish washing gloves. This is a great video on removing the door panel.

    Is it possible to buy the armrest piece that the vinyl goes over. Every internet search I do takes me to armrest covers. I can't seem to find the actual armrest anywhere.

    • @fixinit
      @fixinit  Před 4 lety

      Not sure what color or what side you need. I have a couple of links in the video description for the full assembly from Honda. Driver's side only though.

    The vinyl on the center console in the cr-z has same problem ..not holding like this

    • @fixinit
      @fixinit  Před 3 lety +1

      I got a video on the center console too. If you can find the replacement material, center console is easier to fix than the door armrest.

      J. E. Yes, about the same. They actually sell the armrests already upholstered. So it’s easy.
