Annie Leibovitz has created iconic photographs of the world’s greatest leaders and artists over a career that spans four decades. From her intimate portraits of John Lennon to her dynamic images of Serena Williams, Annie’s work has graced the covers of hundreds of magazines, including Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, and Vogue.
The first woman to be named chief photographer at Rolling Stone in 1972, Annie has since been exhibited in the Smithsonian Institute , the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the National Portrait Gallery. Some of Annie’s most iconic images include Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the U.S.A. album cover, John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s “kiss” portrait, and Demi Moore’s often-imitated pregnancy portrait for the 1991 cover of Vanity Fair.
Annie’s MasterClass will take you beyond the technical and into the art of photography. Join her on a live photo shoot to get rare insight into the process of her work, from research, planning, and scouting locations to interact with both her team and the subject.
In video lessons and a workbook tailored to each chapter, you’ll learn how to tell a story in a single still and imbue your images with art and dimension.
In her online photography class, Annie teaches you how to:
• Research your subject
• Sharpen your observation
• Come up with photo concepts
• Establish a rapport with your subject
• Create effective lighting
• Develop your storytelling
• Approach photography as both an art and craft
• Improve your skills by taking family portraits

"Not about the camera" Of all the people on this earth I am glad she said that. I've believed that for years.
It’s common sense for most artists, it’s never about the tools
01:00...I always emphasize this to those that I talk too.....putting respect to Ms Leibovitz and how her remarks are so darn important!
Annie Leibovitz is Wonderful!!! I actually had the fortune to be a part of creating a moment in history by working in front of her lens (men's 'grasslands' pic) at the New Amsterdam Theater in NYC. Thanks to Julie Taymor (director) we worked with one of The Best photographers!!! This was for the "The Lion King" on Broadway which was originally located and opened on 42nd St.@circa 1997-98 !!! Great memories were created then that are still yielding positive effects/benefits to this present day! 👏
Let’s see if you still call Annie wonderful when you find out she’s playing the part of Burley gates in the movie we’ve been watching
🤔???@@angusbeef524 what exactly does your current movie project or query of how I think about A.L have to do with my personal experience from 25 years ago??
@@lsky4446 The eyes are useless when the mind is blind. Kinda looks like you won’t understand until you do understand the depth. It’s coming just be patient
You have a point@@angusbeef524but still making no sense in regards to my query
And honestly All people change to some degree@@angusbeef524 My experience years ago was pleasant. I won't discount that she may be a different person today that YOU oppose.👍🏽
Gotta love Masterclass! Just wich I could afford it
Really enjoyed this class ... it was more about Annie than “photography” but really interesting
Nah it was really stupid.
Well it helped me on my project on her soo...
It's about how she works creatively. If you want a liberal course on photography then go to university.

Can you redo this course with a real photographer who isn’t a boring tired unoriginal old hack and tryhard please? I would like to learn actual photography. Guess I’ll just do the Garry Kasparov chess class instead.
Wow, you really can say the meanest things when a style doesn't appeal to you. For your information, I had to take a Photography class as part of a Fine Arts Degree and Leibovitz is a legend among photographers of portraiture. What she teaches may seem simple but she has a clear understanding of setting a scene. If you don't like it or prefer a different style of photography that's a different story. But as the saying goes don't judge a book by its cover. Her pictures took her just as much as choosing between 500 different shots and composing with people (sometimes dead), actors and props. Sometimes taking a shot in the right moment and sometimes taking days to set up a shot.
@@Dan_om3 Have you actually taken the course?
I was a photographer by trade. I never understood her work. Just like I never understand why many people consider the Beatles as one of the great musicians either.
