- The claw machine I have on location has a major issue! It won't work and is eating money! I take a dive inside the claw machine to see if I can repair it! I also do a mod to the claw machine to make the prize area more appealing! Upon what I thought was an easy fix, the machine ends up catching fire but will I still get it to work?!

About Arcade Matt:
I make arcade videos! My passion started with the claw machine or crane game as they're called and continued to arcade ticket games. I also play games that give major prizes like Stacker and Keymaster. The coin pusher is also another favorite and some have unique prizes on the edge to win. On some games I even show arcade hacks and how to win more arcade games. I also play carnival games winning big prizes! I usually cash in all of my arcade tickets for a prize, some I even unbox! It's a mystery! Lets have some fun and Lets play!

I personally agree that the fruity pebbles gravel gave it a nice look to the lil diamond đ. đ
Here's a little tip for you Matt. When taking out something like this before removing anything, TAKE PICTURES lots of them of where all the wires are connected to and where all the parts are mounted. The more pictures you take the better because you'll have a reference of where everything is supposed to go. You likely plugged a power rail into a signal rail and fried the chip. Some connections use the same connectors for both signal and power so watch out. Sometimes there is text printed right on the board what each connector does. I use that when I'm modding electronics mostly amplifiers where to inject audio.
Good to see this machine back up and running minus the lights.
Indeed! Either take photos or have the schematic on hand.
It looks like you fried the General Illuminating circuit by using the wrong power connector.
@@joelggundam also could add little tags as well that goes around the wires
It probably also came with the wiring diagram in the service manual if he bought it new and it's a commercial device.
10-4 roger that grey squirrel, over and out! Itâs def fried and will need to get another one. You should start taking pictures of everything before and after, it well help you to remember where everything goes and how itâs plugged in. Save you time and money.
The diamonds really bring a nice vibe but the neon gravel on the black was honestly giving hardcore arcade vibes.
The fact that you had that machine for 11 years is a milestone on its own, and it shows through this video with all the maintenance you've performed.
Matt change out the main light in the claw machine for a black light tube and then the colorful pebbles will glow in the dark kind of like the colorful rocks you see at the black light mini golf.
Glad you fixed the Lil Diamond, even without the lights, it looks great! I remember that machine from Journey to the claw machine days like 10 years back. I remember you taking it to meet and greets/conventions.
Played the Arcade Online and won 2k tickets! Thank you, Matt, for something fun and new! I can play these games with my kiddos at home (we don't have an arcade in our area, đą).
Hope you guys enjoyed the repair video!

RIP, Lil Diamond
2012 - 2023
That little metal thing shaped like a moon is called a C clip or an E clip depending on shape. It went a little too fast for me to tell. Also sometimes called a retaining clip
TY! lol
@@arcade_matttheyâre also used on store front doors that have push bar devices. In the trade Iâm in we call them Jesus clips because theyâre easy to lose and have you saying cheese and rice
@@dudehappy3 Yep. They are used in all kinds of stuff. I've lost so many of these damn little clips.
Iâve also seen that particular type called a cir clip
Just replace the circuit board for the lights. That one is probably really old too. I used to work on circuit boards and usually its something in the circuit board that needs fixed. It will be easier to just replace it if you don't know how to do it yourself.
Matt is a national treasure and we must protect him at all costs
:D
Ok
I like 2018 arcade Matt
Ummmm, no đ€·

Glad that the Lil Diamond is back to being safely operable again, even if the lights aren't working. Personally, I liked the colored gravel better, but nothing wrong with the all black gravel. Can only imagine how long it took to complete all the work you put into the machine. Excellent video Matt!
Yea it was def an all afternoon project :D
I preferred the coloured gravel too.
That thing on your joy stick is called a keeper. God bless you and your family my friend.
what i would do is reach out to the manufacturer and see if they have a wire diagram, before you replace that chip board i would check all your wiring, it could be as simple as a bad light bar, but it could also be a wire or another board shorting, if i lived near ya i would come and take a look with ya to help
Hey Matt I have a couple of tips for you,
I actually have the Hot Diamond claw machine which is the bigger brother of the Lil Diamond. When that chip got burnt out it could have possibly been from the old power supply. I looked inside my machine to see if this was the same power supply from what Smart Industries gave you but I could not tell. Another Mod you could do with this machine is replacing the sound chip. You could make it play Pirates Chest claw machine music because that might fit better because you have the gravel in there now. Let me know if you have any questions Matt. Thanks :)
Moon shaped thing is a retaining clip.... love your videos
Glad you got your claw machine working again. The new layout looks great & the gravel reminds me of those claw machines with the jewelry in it.
Thanks đ
Hahaha when you were filling it with the gravel, i thought "oh, it would look cool if he put diamonds around the edge of the glass" lol. I guess we have the same taste đ
haha u bet!
That screw that was tight was the equipment grounding. Just grounding electrical faults of abnormal high amperage to a ground path to protect your machine and the low voltage power supply. You need a multimeter to read voltage readings going from terminal blocks or connections. This will give you a reason to why it burnt out from over voltage or it just being old, but at that point just replace it. Resistors and thermal heating protection and capacitors etc. Each colored wire is just a communication signal to the circuit board. It should be tag labeled your right, shouldnât have to guess.
yea or at least different color wires - I hate that they didn't have the original one that came with the machine but sold me this other "compatible" one.
I was just wondering how your arcades were doing. Glad to see theyâre still going and you doing maintenance. I still love watching you play. Just curious about your own arcades too. Goober Jenny just saying hi đ. â€â€â€
I love these videos where you repair stuff as well. its always interesting seeing the guts of these thing and how they can be spiffed up
Matt I've been a fan for so many years and found one of these machines and just bought it. Can you do a detailed showcase of all the internals and settings? Thanks
maybe in the future!
Matt is a gaming whiz on both sides of the counter. It's pretty amazing that you can make fixing a claw machine this interesting for the masses. Here's to another 11 years with Lil' Diamond.
Great video. Glad the claw machine is back in working order. Hope you get the lights fixed though. They give it a nice aesthetic look.
I feel like adding a black light in there to make the gravel glow might be nice. It should also make those blue diamonds pop.
When power supplies die they can surge and damaged components on the way out.
Itâs also possible that the light controller shorted and took out the power supply.
The new power supply may be supplying too much voltage.
My guess is it was the power supply dying that damaged the light controller.
Replace the light controller and see what happens. May not hurt to verify the voltage on the psu side and see if it matches the controller.
Yep. The backfeed, or when there's a short or bad connection, on a circuit when it blows can cause damage in other spots.
7:35 thatâs called an âEâ clip and they can and will go flying far away!
Great đ appeal, Matt! It is so simple, and yet it will yield greater plays and return plays!
Very few vendor owners put that much care and quality back into their machines. Top Notch!
Loved the nostalgia of showing the Lil' Diamond in action with your og fans who grew up watching you.
i love when he does these type of videos. please do more!
Matts repair skills are getting better and better, i imagine we'd be seeing even more repairs in the future
Arrecade Matt I love your videos Matt good job I have been an Og fan
Matt you are a legend! Have a blessed and wonderful weekend ahead!
ty you too!
That little moon shape clip is called a C-clip, easiest way to remove them is by a pocket screw driver (not a Phillips (cross but), also easiest way to get the clip on is by needle nose or channel locks
I wish you could do a Carnival / Arcade cross over video and see if you can win an identical prize ( super large plushy ) cheaper at the Arcade or the Carnival? Seeing a split video would be awesome!! Plus.. bring back mini putt challenges!!!
Awesome fixing Matt! And nice video ty
Arcade Matt good content. I wish you had a channel restoring arcade machines.đ
every once in a while I do servicing / repair vids on the channel :)
went to *Leersdale* to play this arcade!! They *Desperately* *NEED* *AIR* *CONDITIONING* in there!!! unbelievably hot at times! enjoyed the retro style games though! Love the *3D* games at *ZONE* *28* as well, but the employees *shut* *down* *all* the *machines* with *35* *minutes* *Left* on a *Saturday* *Night!!* Which was *extremely* *disappointing* But it was fun. I tried to go to *Ace's* *BREAKAWAY* and *Play* but he's *NEVER* *OPEN!* *EVER!!!* Thanks for the content and new Places to *Play!!*
Looks good but the colored rocks makes it more attractive and eye catching
It looked good with colors but the finished set up is awesome makes me want to play.
Also the Reason the chip exploded is likely due to it being shorted by the original power supply when it died, the new power supply has no overcurrent protection so instead of noticing the shorted chip it merely just pumps more and more voltage through until the short burns itself out.
I have a universal laptop charger that has blown the shorts out of three machine's conveniently reviving two of them!
IMO i loved the gravel with the colors in it! đ€·ââïž a black light would've made that original gravel even more awesome!
Looks great either way though!
This is my first video in maybe 4 years, thanks for my childhood matt!
Welcome back! :)
Same lol
Glad you found your way back, fun times still rolling here.
Iâve been watching since Iâve been a kid haha since the 365 days, and still watching many years later
Everything looks nice, Matt!
Great job fixing itđ
You saved your baby! That's awesome Matt! Nice job!
woo hoo!
I really like neon colours, so preferred the gravel with the colour through it. I think the black by itself is just too plain.
YEA IT LOOKS WAY BETTER! THE BLACK GIVES IT A LIL ZING! AND THATS SOME GOOD TEC SKILLS! MUCH LOVE FROM YA BOY MR.VIRAL! FROM SAGINAW MICHIGAN 989!
Gravel looks great but I really liked the "Fruity Pebbles" bag better than the all black. Glad you didn't blow up!
Its probably because of the power from the supply -- too much power for that board to handle most likely. But it also could be because now the new power supply is in there everything else is just as old as the old power supply was so at some point you may have to replace many pieces.
Matt is great, this was an awesome episode! Love these occasional business videos
Epic repair! it has lasted a long time! Those power supplys blow up over time, sometimes the voltage can go higher or just cut out so lucky it didnt do more damage and did you make sure the polarity of the plug that went onto the light pcb was the same way? Nice vid as always!
if you check the chip, there should be a chip number on it. google that number to find the data sheet of that chip. The data sheet should tell you what voltage the chip is rated for. Make sure the power supply output going to that chip does not exceed the rated voltage. Only thing is that youâll probably need to solder a new chip on the PCB. Itâs most likely 3.3V or 5V DC. You most likely put the higher voltage output pins from the PS to that PCB. Hopefully you get that working again!
You are awesome Matt I watch every single video you postâ€đ
4:45 Jinxed yourself there Matt ^_-
I believe in you dingus. Youâre simply the best , better than all the rest !
Before pluging and turning on anything, use a multimeter to measure the voltage output
Matt, I believe that's called a snap ring that goes on the joystick. They actually make a special tool that works beautifully for removing and installing those snap rings.
Rip lil Diamond 2012-2023, you will be missed by many of not fixed. This claw was part of my teenhood
some kind of blacklight would be dope with those. even if its just a small one near ground level to make em look cooler
Greetings from a Goober from the Netherlands! Watching every video. Sadly when you upload it is 01:00am here đ
I went to your machine today Matt! Iâm glad to see the Lil Diamond running good. I won a plush and 2 packs of PokĂ©mon cards, then I won a keychain from your stacker game, thanks lot! đ
I am visiting Pittsburg rn so I was able to go to zone 28 and the go kart place you are always go to!
Omg the jumpscare at 14:53 đ€Łđ
I feel the wire on the board that fried were flipped... hard to know without the diagram for sure as I can't read the chip numbers to know the pins.
The chipset is easily replaceable too no need a full board change if ever.
Matt, that claw machine you had since 2012 lived a long life.
You probably have a bad stepdown transformer so the 110v coming in isn't stepping down to the 24v for the lights that's why it's burning out the board. J/s look into it! Hope this helps đđ»đđ»đđ»
It looks awesome with the colours in
As a kid I'd be floored if I saw that machine. I'd be like.. damn all that birthday money is going to be gone asap but that's okay I got my pocket wrist watch.
The rainbow rocks look really nice. Don't worry
Great video matt
You needed to test the voltage coming out of the power supply before you hooked it up the machine. Then dialed it back if it was to high.
Colored ones looked better in the machine. Made it pop and had contrast
I've never seen a claw machine catch Matt before! đ . . . . đ . . . . đ . . . . That means he's fire. . . . . đ heck ya'll, I thought that was a good comment đ
Hi Matt I love watching your videos. You need to come to Australia to try out our arcade scene đ
Gotta love those noodle arms at the end.
Wow awesome video matt đąclaw machine
That looks great with the gravel
I think it looked better with the coloured gravel mixed in!
Adam Savage demerit badge on that smoke off that board that smoked. đ
Another awesome video brother keep up the hard work
7:31 itâs called a c-clip.
Brilliant video as usual! I tried signing up in the UK to the arcade online but it only gives the options of US, Australia or Singapore? Is it not available for UK? Thanks!
Thatâs an E-clip (also known as a C-clip depending on who you ask). They do sell a removal tool at Loweâs or Home Depot.
13:02 muscle matt in the flesh
That little moon shaped thing is called an "E" clip
Weird question. But can I buy that old Lil Diamond Plexy off you?
I got my own collection of arcade parts from my career working at arcaded, and I got a few really cool parts with a story
Please fix the light!!! Lol enjoy your videos my guy makes me want to go to a dave and busters and play all day
Without the diamonds in, I agreed with her the color looked good. But with the diamonds in, the clean black looked good.
Hope you match the watts and Volts because if they are off you get SMOKE, and agree with the lady the color rocks look nice inside the machine
Matt I remember your videos servicing soda and candy machines do you still do that?
I like the color gravel in there, but all black is good too.
I've been watching you for 5
She was right. The color pebbles in there looks good!
Looks great.
The âmoon thingâ is called an e-clip. Lol
Relaxation... Thy name is Arcade Matt. i agree he should be a national treasure and im not even American lol. Congrats on another amazing video and thanks for all your hard work. its appreciated
Love the videos Arcade Matt.just wondering when is the next mini golf video
Great video arcade matt
Awesome fixing the claw machine video Matt! đ đ
Loved all the close up of your beautiful model quality hands đâ€
