      Hi mate. Im so happy i could help you. I have not yet mapped. In last week i did a DIY straight pipe conversion and the car sounds awesome now. The final reveal on that coming this Fryday at 18:00. I want to finish up all the other external mods before i do the map. Those LEDs in the grill are Hella Daytime running lights. They are an accessory that you can purchase off the shelf. As a matter of fact you should find a plethora of these lights online and perhaps close to where you stay as well. They are very simple to fit and just gives that extra bit of visibility during the day. So happy to have been able to help you mate.

    glad i found this video. i have a couple of friends that has been trying to convinve me to straight pipe, unichip, intercooler, egr block..... i refuse to as i dont want to interfere with the reliability of my d4d. I have a 2013 fortuner 4x4 auto, 200 000 km on it now. Considering to remove the innards of the exhaust. I am in 2 minds about doing the chip etc. My fuel consumption i think is a bit hectic. I get around 550 - 650km on a tank. I think it feels a bit sluggish i dont know. whats your suggestion? Also is that the CAT of DPF that you are removing?

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  Před 3 lety

      Hi Ryno. Im so happy you found the video helpfull. Your tuner does not hav a dpf only a cat. The exhaust goes straight from the turbo down and out. Im just removing the innards of the cat. I also have 2 videos on doing a straight pipe. If you have some welding skills you should be able to straightpipe your tuner yourself. Fuel consumption wise the diffrence is very small but relieving the resistance on the engine and turbo from the exhaust side of things will definitely improve the longevity of your engine. Your turbo wil spool up a little lower in the rev range and your exhaust gas tempratures will be greatly reduced. Im also in 2 minds about a performance upgrade. I would however not recommend a chip. Way too many issues with cars over 200k kms. If you do reaaaaaly want to improve performance, rather map the ecu by a reputable performance shop. Too many fly by nights. Also there are things you can do if you feel your off road performance is lacking. I have a whole video about the traction control system. There is something in there that very few people who own a d4d know. That should help a bit off road. On road, always remember, stage one of every performance upgrade is always exhaust. Get your exhaust straight piped and cat removed then get the performance upgrade. If you do the one before the other your exhaust gas tempratures skyrocket and your turbo and exhaust manifold take a lot of punishment. Your fuel economy drops considerably and your engine runs very hot. As you know, not good.
      In my opinion, forget the performance upgrade, do your exhaust, its the only thing you can safely do and not mess up the reliability of your car. In the end, reliability trumps performance. And unfortunately most discover this only in hindsight.
      Thank you for taking the time to comment. Sorry for the rant, the subject is pretty complicated.
      Keep safe.

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Marc. Well your EGT exhaust gas tempratures will drop tremendously, thereby putting way less strain on the turbo caseing and manifold. Your ECU will also no longer throttle down your engine when your vehicle is running in extreme conditions, like high revs while playing in the sand. Overall a SLIGHT improvement in feul economy. But the biggest gain is the improved longevity of the engine. Its like breathing through a mask. Its not completely bad for you but its way nicer without it. And the noise a d4d without the muffler and cat makes is really nice.

      @4x4ViewFinder  Před rokem

      Hi Ivan. Thank you for your comment, well at the low end there was a very slight improvement. At the top end not so much. Because the turbo can now spool up from virtually no revs, it helps give some oomph down low. If however you couple that with a straight pipe, and a map after that, you may get some great gains.

    • @IvanDoesMTB

      @@4x4ViewFinder awesome! It already had performance filters and a remap.

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  Před rokem

      Awesome, just remember in future that you always leave your remap for last. You first do all your performance upgrades and then map. That way your engine is tuned to what you have upgraded. Otherwise, in most cases it negates your upgrades because your engine is running on old perameters and limits set by your previous map. A stage 1 upgrade always includes and is not limited to an exhaust upgrade, the next stage is a map. From there you change turbos and or intercoolers etc. After which you do a remap again. Unless you do all of this at once. A good dyno tuner will ask you if you have done an exhaust upgrade before they tune, as mapping always comes after that. You dont need to do an exhaust upgrade but 99% of people who opt for a remap, almost always want to do an exhaust remap for even more performance afterwards. A remap before an exhaust upgrade also has the risk of raising your EGT's and causing additional ware on your engine if you happen to tow or run the car hard. So i always suggest to do a decat and a straight pipe first, then do a map. Your engine will thank you.

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Jayesh. Thank you so much and thank you for taking the time to comment. I really apreciate it. I would not do an EGR delete on a d4d engine. The exhaust gasses being introduced to the combustion chamber in the d4d engine are there to lower combustion tempratures,(part of what makes the engines last so long) and thereby easing undue strain on the turbo and cooling system. If you block it off you will have an increase in exhaust gass tempratures and an increase in feul demand, so bad feul economy, qnd a marked increase in workload on the water pump and radiator. If you have a older model this is where you will start seeing your first failures. Also turbo damage is not far behind. The engineers at toyota build every part of a toyota engine with a purpose, and absolutely nothing is redundant or unnecessary. I did some tests with my Nissan Navara back when i still had it. I blanked off the egr and nothing changes. Got a little more smoke out the other end but nothing to write home about. Found out that in most cases the egr iin some manufacturers are just there because they have to be. Toyota go next level and actually try to make it work. So in my opinion brother, leave that egr the way it is. Best you can do is have it cleaned by toyota technicians as i know they do get clogged over their lifetime. But other than that, it would be safer and it would maintain the reliability of your vehicle. The way it was designed to. Hope this is helpfull brother. Thanks for the comment. Keep safe.

    Middag, moet mens iets in die ecu update wanneer jy cat uithaal? Videos op y'tube gesien al wat dit sê en dan klomp geld daarvoorvra.
    Blykbaar kan die injectors op n sekere stadium na ontbranding bietjie diesel spuit wat dan saam met die uitlaatgasse na die cat beweeg om hom skoon te brand.
    Dankie vir n goeie video!

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  Před 2 lety +1

      Midag Christoff. Jy hoef gelukkig niks te update of bypass met die d4ds as jy sy cat uithaal nie. Navaras moet jy sy sensor bypass en die nuuter np300s het n cat burn knoppie waar hy brandstof in die cat in spuit en dan dit herbrand om die cat "skoon" te maak. Toyotas het nie dit nie. Ek sal jou egter nie kan sê as jy die heel nuutste hilux of tuner het nie. Nie seker of hulle dieselfde ontbranding doen of nie.
      Bly die video kon jou help. Al wat n cat delete jou mee help is, baie minder weerstand op die enjin. Jy gaan nie regtig verbetering op brandstof verbruik of krag sien nie. Maar as jy van plan is om te map dan is n cat delete n vooreiste. Anders stoot dit jou EGT's, exhaust gas tempratures op. Dit maak dat die enjin baie swaarder op brandstof loop en baaaaie warmer is en daardeur sal die ecu jou power output verminder hoe meer hy moet trek. Dis n sneeubal effek wat ook maar eintlik net sal tee kom as jy baie swaar sleep of in die sand speel. Maar soos jy seker weet, hoe minder weerstand n enjin het as hy werk hoe langer hou hy.
      Lekker midag. Laat dit juig meneer.

      Hi Rafiek. Not on the fortuners and the hiluxes. The nissans have a sensor on the dpf that you can just put a CatFooler on. And whats you opinion on the whole EGR delete?

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  Před 2 lety

      Hey Cody. Thanx for the compliment bru. Really apreciate it.
      First off, a cat delete wont give you any more noticable power, but in your case, you might notice the van being a bit more nippy, but nothing to write home about.
      The sound may improve slightly as well, you will hear that iconic turbo sound a bit more clearer without the cat, but removing the exhaust box and putting in a straight pipe might sound a bit more aggressive. Just replace the exhaust box with a resonator and it will sound factory.
      On the egr delete. You can do it on most other vehicles but not on a d4d. The egr actually plays an important role in keeping exhaust tempratures regulated in a d4d. Unlike other brands the d4d uses the egr integrally. Other brands use it because they have to.
      My advise, you can adjust, change or modify almost anything around the engine, but dont mess the engine and its workings. Toyota designed a masterpiece of engineering that will probably last you another 450k Kays. Everything about it is designed to last, so the moment you change anything that messes with how the engine runs, then you are going to compromise longevity.
      The exhaust however toyota knew people are going to have aftermarket work done, so you can do whatever you would like to to the exhaust.
      Hope this was helpfull Cody, thanx for supporting bru. Keep safe.

      First have your injectors checked bru, most of the time, as a result of time, the injectors get clogged because of our bad feul. If your vehicle is still standard in all respects and you get less than 8km/l in city then chances are they might need a bit of a clean. I would avoid K&N air filters on any vehicle. Yes they let more air through but they also let more dirt through. Dust is an enemy of an engine. If you are never ever going to drive on a gravel road then maybe consider K&N, but if you are going to go anywhere near a dirt road, use the toyota airfilter. Its designed to give the best performance while protecting the engine. Like i mentioned bru. Dont mess with anything around the engine. What you can do is fit a schnorkel. That will let cooler, cleaner air into the engine and reduce the amount of dust the filter has to cope with. Just my 2c on the matter bru.

      Hey Wilfmeister. Hope you are well. I just came accross your comment, not sure why i did not get it on my phone. I always endeavor to answer every msg i get. so sorry for this. Will check my desktop more regularly. There are many factors that could affect your feul economy over the years, normal wear and tare on engine components are normally to blame. Toyota know that people will be modifying the exhaust so they never put sensors on them. Even the new bakkies dont even have a cat inside the can. Its just there as an eye-blind. My dad got him a new legend 50 and went to have the cat removed only to find there is nothing inside. The ecu only monitors exhaust gas tempratures in order to limit performance if it gets too hot. By removing the cat you relieve the engine of an enormous amount of backpressure and thereby drastically dropping EGT's. So the engine only benefits, it does not change any of the parameters on feuling or air, the engine runs exactly the same only now it runs cooler. Hope this was helpfull friend. Jis meneer, die manne wat dit vir jou se het seker n baie beperkte kennis oor enjins. Overspool. Eerste keer in my lewe dat ek dit hoor. N turbo kan nie overspool nie, in teendeel, waneer jy map of chip of enige performance upgrades doen soek jy juis dat hy hoer revolusies spool want dit bring hoer boost pressure wat meer krag gee. As jy na n plek wat map of chips in sit en se hulle moet jou kar map dat hy nie overspool nie gaan hulle vir jou lag. Wat jy dan vir hulle vra is om jou boost pressure te verlaag. As jy decat en straight pipe verlig dit die weerstand op die turbo op lae revolusies so al wat hy doen is hy spool vroer op, dis al. Hy gee jou nie meer krag nie, net jou torque curve word met n breekdeel bietjie langer van laer af. Jy sal dit nie eers agter kom nie. Na jy jou exhaust straight pipe vat jy hom om te map sodat jy kan voordeel trek uit die feit dat daar minder weerstand op die turbo en enjin is met betrekking tot die uitlaatgasse en ja, soos jy kan raai, jou boost pressure te verhoog vir meer krag. As gevolg gaan jou turbo revolusies ook op, want dit is hoe jy meer krag kry. As n performance upgrade so maklik kon wees deur net te straight pipe en te decat het almal dit gedoen. Dankie dat jy darm vra, ek is baie bly ek kon jou reg help. Nou weet jy ook darm hoe dit werk. Decat en straight pipe is amper al upgrade wat jy self kan doen wat net goed is vir jou enjin. Dit verlig die druk op die turbo en enjin en sal op die lange duur n effense verligting op brandstof verbruik maak. Dankie dat jy die tyd geneem het om te comment.

      En net vir FYI, "overboost" nie Overspooling gebeur slegs met enjins wat super warm gemaak is, cams en lifters upgrade, n hectic remap tot op 100%mechanical limit en selfs met NOS en dan sit hulle n upgraded oversize exhaust op om so min moontlik weerstand op die turbo te kry. Die probleem kom as daai manne met lae budgets al die cheap performance mods doen en die duur performance mods vermy, soos groter turbo op sit om die performance gains van die enjin te match. Dan kan n turbo overboost of over speed en dan kan die turbo breek of ontplof maar hy gaan jou defnitief nie meer krag gee nie. So die phenomena is net op karre met baie hoe performance upgrades en sulke goed te doen. Die average jou wat net so paar kw ekstra soek gaan nie so ver gaan nie. So, performance upgrade nommer een is altyd, FreeFlow en dan map. Moenie jou kar map voor jy nie jou exhaust gedoen het nie, jou exhaust gas tempratures gaan op as gevolg van die weerstand op die enjin en daar my vriend is waar groot kak begin. Jammer vir die rant, maar daar is baie bollie daar buite, van mense wat "experts" is. Dit maak my kwaai as daai mense info versprei aan mense wat regtig iets wil leer. Hoop jyt n heerlike aand meneer. Groete

    Halo My Friend.
    I see water coming out from your exaust pipe.? My hilux SR 2007 with Egr cooler its also got Water coming from Exaust when First star in the morning.
    Its that a bad sign?

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  Před 2 lety +1

      Hallo there. You have nothing to worry about friend. Its just condensation forming after you have switched off your vehicle. The exhaust is still warm and the air inside the exhaust cools down faster than the steel of the pipe. That causes moisture to form inside. If the water coming out of your exhaust is persistent and does not stop a couple of seconds after startup then you may have an issue. But if the water only comes out when you start the vehicle then that is perfectly normal. During winter there should be more moisture than in summer. Hope this helps my friend.

      Hi sir mine is a 4x4 Toyota hilux(D4D) 2.4diesel engine 2012 from uk but it’s now in kenya.it’s 3 and half years now driving the vehicle,i recently removed the same whatever u hv removed from the catalytic,and after the dpf light is still flashing on the dashboard,my question is how can i remove the light my self & after the removal of the items that were inside the catalytic will my hilux increase the power?thank u

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  Před rokem

      Hey Anthony. If your van came from the UK then yes, there should be a DPF sensor in there, and the only way to get the light off is to install a DPF sensor fooler. They are dirt cheap and you should be able to buy them online on Ebay or Amazon or Alibaba. They are super simple to install and the fool the ECu to think there is a catalytic converter installed.
      Removing your Cat wont give you a noticeable performance boost but it wil help your engine last longer. It helps decrease your exhaust gas tempratures and lets the engine run with minimal to no resistance or backpressure.
      For a cheaper performance boost that wont cause any damage to your engine and will change the characteristics of your car completely, have a look at installing a throttle controller. There are many on the market and they turn your car into something else completely. Hope this helps friend. Thank you for commenting. Keep safe.

    Does the cat delete damage your engine after time at all ?

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey brother. Not at all. If anything it prevents damage. The cat creates a lot of backpressure and increases egt's (exhaust gas temprature) without the cat your turbo spools up a bit quicker as well giving you a little bit more torque a little lower down. I can however not garantee there would be no damage, it all depends on a number of factors. Age of the vehicle, if services where done regularly etc. I urge you to do a lot of searching on the internet and at local exhaust shops. Then make a educated decision on the matter. Hope this is helpfull brother. Thanks for supporting. Keep safe.

      @@4x4ViewFinder thank you im trying to do some research some people say uts not good because the turbo is working harder but slot of people say its better for the vehicle so im really confused i have a 2012 isuzu kb300 lx dteq and it had just over 260 000 ks not sure if you will recommend it or not ?

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  Před 3 lety +1

      No brother turbo can not work harder. The engine can only create as much pressure as its own combustion allows. As a matter of fact the back pressure the cat creates is the only thing that makes the turbo "work" harder. Thats why, when you remove it, it spools up lower in the rev range. In my opinion it only does good.

      @@4x4ViewFinder thanks sir , this my first cat delete for stock exhaust. . but sir , i want to know , after delete cat did it can incrase torqe and hp ? What benefit after doing this for the engine and turbo ... Thank you sir

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  Před 3 lety

      Well my friend, people say they feel an increase in HP and Torque but i never felt it. The only reason you would remove it is to preserve the longevity of the engine. The Cat puts a lot of resistance on the engine thereby increasing exhaust gas tempratures. This in turn makes the engine over fuel and thereby increasing your EGT even further. This kills performance when you need it most. So by removing the cat there is no longer a restriction in the outgoing exhaust gasses and your EGTs drop considerably. As a result your turbo also spools up a little bit earlier as well, perhaps around 200 to 300rpm earlier, giving you a bit more performance down low in the rev range. This does nothing to the turbo dont worry, it does not change any perameters of the turbo it just spools up a bit earlier that is all. If you are looking for a performance boost but you dont want to mess with the engine, i can reccomend a throttle controler. You wont believe how much performance a d4d have, but just because of how toyota have set up the throttle response of the van, they have killed a lot of that performance. Have a look at the video below. I was astonished at the standard performance it was able to deliver. Now both my uncle and my father put one in their vehicle, its crazy.
