I wrapped up therapy after about 6 months of weekly sessions last month and my therapist was so happy for me and just told me to call him if I ever need help. There’s never a shortage of people who need therapy lol, they’ll always have clients, just opens up a space for them. Dude if your therapist ever pushes anything on you get a new therapist 😂

As a mental health professional, I have seen companies that care more about keeping the client than helping them get better and discharging them successfully. I am glad that I don't work with those companies anymore, and I am glad that I helped many of my clients get better and discharge them successfully before I left.

I told my therapist "I've recovered from my eating disorder, I am happy to stop therapy."
My therapist was thrilled for me. She said "would you like to do some followups just to make sure it's really recovered?"
I said yes, we did 2 followups over a month, afterwards I said "I'm good, thank you for all you've done" and she said "you should thank yourself. You did it all. Well done on your recovery, I'm so happy I could have been part of it."
Then I left, and it's been almost 3 years and I'm still recovered.
That's what a good therapist does.

It's strange because, mental health either gets better or worse because of therapists.
The therapist i went to last year was literally always interrupting me when i speak and even put me down with aggressive tones. But I'm glad I got better without a therapist!
Same thing with my threapist she literally would deter my confidence and my happiness. And would either make me feel better when I'm upset or worse depending on what the situation is
Actually accurate! i went to a psychologist when i was battling depression a few years back and after over two years of visits with him i got alot better.. then suddenly when he saw i was doing better he started making me doubt myself and asking me things like "how do you KNOW your friends actually care about you and arent using you?"

When i was 12 i saw a psychologist and i had ticks and anxiety then and this mofo prescribes me olanzapine, gained 10 lbs in a week. I come back in told him i stopped taking them meds, then he tried saying i had a whole bunch of disorders he could pin point just based off my body movements. Was insane.

This is hilariously fortuitous. I recently ended my trauma counseling a couple weeks ago. Breaking it to my counselor was the weirdest thing, she had this expression on her face I can’t describe, idk, like she entered a matrix.
We decided to end session in less than 20 minutes. I started receiving therapy at 10 years old and then trauma counseling (slightly different, nonprofit) a few years later; I’m 21 now. I thought I still needed trauma counseling, so I got back into it, but a few weeks in and I realized, my past trauma is no longer what’s holding me back. God heals, y’all. Even today.
(This isn’t me knocking therapy, btw. I think therapy can be an amazing source of healing, super grateful for all the amazing therapists who’ve helped me in my life, and I think it can be great maintenance and a safety net even if things are going perfectly in your life.)

This one I had been with for about a month or so after re-opening my counseling sessions. She was just caught off guard because my childhood trauma had been relegated more to the periphery of my mind and I didn’t see the point in constantly discussing it anymore. She was only there for trauma-focused therapy, so there was no point for me to keep digging it up and fixating on it.
Its crazy how much sway the therapist has over the people in Griffy's life.

Go to a pyschiatrist, get it confirmed. Psychiatrists are more specialized in the field of diagnosis and prescription. There are a lot of mental illnesses that do need meds for life.

I'd never advise stopping therapy forever. Going weekly starting out for extreme cases, but even then, biweekly is appropriate and more affordable. Any good company with benefits will have decent mental health coverage.
Eventually you become more comfortable taking more time between sessions. I only see my therapist once a month now, and eventually I'm sure I'll space it out to two months and so forth. However, if and when things do get worse again, I'll go more frequently.
Truth is, as good as your friends are, they often times don't make the best therapists. I've been in therapy long enough that I know how to listen and react to my friends who just need to talk and vent, but accept I'm not a professional. I don't know the deeper aspects a therapist may come to understand. Most importantly, sometimes it helps to talk to someone without any skin in the game. Someone who hasn't known you and you don't know them.
I truly think that literally anyone can benefit from having a good therapist that they vibe with. No ones life is so good and so perfect that they never need to talk about anything. I can guarantee all the buff macho dudes here who claim they don't would benefit from it the most.

Dude I just went through something mildly similar with a therapist named Scott Mathis in Euless, TX. He asked me how I’m doing, and I responded, I’m doing good, and I feel like things are moving in a positive direction for me. He doesn’t respond that’s good to hear or I’m happy things are improving for you, instead he says, what makes you think that? I brushed it off, and said I’m working staying busy, and working out. After the visit I found out that Scott Mathis is one of the Pharisees and chief priests, so I understood why he’s not happy for me. Needless to say he should be terminated immediately.
100% accurate. As someone who went to a psychiatrist the moment you want to stop is the moment the labels drop! The one I went told me "I'll see you by the end of the month !" Haven't seen his ass in over a decade! 🤣

Tired therapy after my dad died from covid. And we spent all his life savings trying to save him.I was scared, and depressed, I had to take care of my little sis and my mom.
First day was avarage. He asked about my fears why I feel scared and shit like that.
2nd day mf suggested me anti depressant pills. And told me I need to be more vulnerable to my feelings and stuff
Told my uncle about this.
He said It's okay to be scared about not being able to provide for your family. You just need to Man the f**k up and deal with it.
It's been 4 years. Dropped out of collage,Got a stable job, nice apartment, sis going to good school. Never had to look back.
