I must say out of all the the videos I have watching this was by far the best especially for a new and inexperienced hunter. Clear delivery. Thank you
Happy to hear that! Thanks for watching!
Wasn’t planning on spending 4 grand this weekend but here we are.
This and Samong’s last hunting video and this one give me something good to watch after I finish replacing the water lines in my house and a family members also. Thanks to this young sportsman and the Whole Yang family for sharing great outdoor adventures with good folks. Good hunting and Gods blessings to this family and Samong fans in the year to come. 🔫🎥💯👍💪🏽💪🏽🙏🏻
Thanks samong for doing this video. Your 6.5 prc looks super nice!
Very good video. Thank you for taking time to go into detail on this build. I am about to start on mine and you gave me 90% of what i needed to know. Very thorough and well worth the watch.
Great detailed job of explaining your set up. I’ve been reloading 6.5 PRC for about a year, it’s been a lot of fun to tinker with.
I definitely like that Salmon River muzzle brake. Thank you for that. Very clear video.
That was very interesting and informative. Thanks for taking the time to explain in such detail.
I have the same exact rifle in the same caliber. Couldn't be happier with it!
Great content for beginners, thanks so much for sharing!
Nice setup! I love my early version Thompson Center Icon, but as I get older the weight of the heavy rifle is less than ideal. I'd like to get it down to about 8lbs, which seems like nothing compared to the anchor I'm dragging around! Great video!
Excellent tutorial 👌🏼
awesome video,Samong. i always find cool gear from you. thanks for the info on the Level Right Pro, i just bought the Master kit today, it was on sale and came with a torque drive for $85.00 from Real Avid.
I have it in 300 WSM and it shoots great. I think Savage nailed it especially for the price point I was able to get it at.
This guy is amazing. Above my level of expertise but explains thing VERY well.
Savage puts out an amazing product. Have 30-06 that has supplied multiple deer and bear. I have used and abused it hunting the Nor Cal Coast, has never failed.
Thanks for the great content
Man your 6.5 prc looks nice
I liked the video you did of this with the browning, this is way more in depth. I hate that lo pro bubble, when I switched scopes I got one with two bolts and saved me the headache.
Check out the Talley ACI (anti cant indicator) it replaces one of the ring caps with one that has a spirit level in it. $30 and lighter and lower profile than any stand alone spirit level. I have them on 2 of my rifles and like it a lot.
RCBS hand loader Rock chucker combo Has worked great like Hornady reload dies.Lee hand press primer loader . Hornady power measure awsome
I was waiting for the best part the shooting... Also I use the Wheeler Professional Laser Bore Sighter before sight in.
Sweet! I was hoping you would make this video 🔫! Thank you
No problem! Let me know if you have any questions!
Omg I can’t believe it, I was about to get this rifle, and coincidentally seeing ur video lol
Not too shabby.
I've had the same problem with scope covers Add a couple wraps of electrical tape works well
Just a small correction - The 110 Ultralite does not have an AccuStock. AccuStock is Savage's term for a stock that has an aluminum rail system embedded in the forend. The customization of the comb height and length of pull is called AccuFit :)
Besides that, great video!
Your like a scientist''
Trying to decide between this rifle and a bergara wildness carbon ridge for my next rifle. With a Vortex 4.5 -22 LHT or sig sauer bdx. Thanks for the review
Beautiful rifle, watching this makes me want to double check my scope that I had Sportsmans mount, I just don't have any of the tools lol. But I know it's not to far off because I shot my Deer at 240 yard and hit it right in the pump house.
Congrats!
@@MisterBrewer thanks
Get the Vortex scope caps. You can even have a custom D.O.P.E card made. And it inserts into the front cap. I use them along with a Alpine Innovations Scope Slicker cover during really rainy or snowy days. Protects the entire scope. So no foggy lenses and keeps my turrets from getting wet.
Undersize scope cap up front, piece of Emery cloth on dowel remove material until perfect fit--- done deal. Had to do this myself few times
Instead of the Butler Flip-Opens, you could do a Butler MultiFlex: Size 43-44, 2.310-2.360 inches, 58.70-59.90 mm, Model # 34344.
Awesome video! Can I ask what was the overall weight with the new scope setup?
Thanks! The complete set up including the bipod is 8lb 11oz.
@Samong Outdoors I put in a lil chub on my savage 110 ultralite 6.5 creedmoor, and once fire, there will be dark smoke coming out of the muzzle brake that doesn't look normal at all. Does your rifle with that muzzle brake expell dark smoke too? Im shooting factory Barnes 127 grain LRX
I'm looking at the Savage 110 Apex predator, in 308,
It has a short barrel 20in.
Any shooting I'll be doing will never hit 300 yards.
Not sure, on the scope yet , still need to do some research, on them.
Awesome
May want to try to heat up the lens cap to expand it or shrink it to fit the objective end of the scope
Yeah, the size 43 won't fit. It's like way too small that even with a bit of expansion, I don't see it fitting.
You said “level” 137 times in this video. Jkjk. Awesome setup my dude!
Thanks for this video. I am looking at the same rifle you chose. I am in a state of indecision with 2 calibers: 280 AI and the 6.5prc. Did you consider the 280AI? If you did, why did you decide against it?
When I first looked into this rifle, I wanted either the 300wsm or the 280AI. However, they only had the 6.5PRC and 28 Nosler in stock so I went with the 6.5 PRC instead. I want to shoot them all one day so it's not a big deal for me at the moment.
It just worked out in my favor because the 7 PRC came out which I would choose over the 280AI. Currently having a 7 PRC being built. That being said, I still think the 280AI is a fantastic cartridge.
@@SamongOutdoors thanks very much for your thoughtful response!
Sy, Love your videos but I have one quick question: I have that same Wheeler kit, but I noticed that you are using Red locktite. I had been told by a few different sources to use the Blue instead. They all said that if I use the Red I will have to apply heat to break the threads free. Are you able to remove your scope mounts/bases without applying heat with the red locktite? P.S. I usually use the Tally one piece mounts.
The loctite I have is the one that comes with the Wheeler kit. It's not red loctite as red loctite is designed for "permanent" use. I can unscrew the screws with the wheeler kit loctite with ease. Blue loctite is great too.
Great info . Does this rifle come in left hand ? What calibers can you get it in ? Why did you choose the 6.5 PRC ? WHAT CASE SIZE DOES THIS 6.5 COMPARE TO ?
Yes, this rifle comes in left handed models. You can see all about it on Savage's website: savagearms.com/content?p=firearms&a=product_summary&s=57713
The 6.5 PRC is just a 6.5 Creedmoor with a bit more juice. The PRC shoots about 200fps faster than a 6.5 Creedmoor with the same bullet.
Just picked up the same rifle in 300 wsm... what height are youre rings? And did u get the ones with the 8-40 screws?
Thanx for the info,I always thought Talley's called for 18-20 inch pounds for rings.
No problem! When using Loctite, it's best that you max out the screws about 4 to 5-inch pounds less per screw. When the Loctite dries up, it tightens the screws up. Meaning, a 13-14 inch pound torque on screws with Loctite will be about equal to an 18-19 inch pound torque without Loctite.
Good to know,thanx
A liquid loctite lubricates your threads making it easier to screw in thus applying more torque. This can be magnified with scope rings that use 6 or 8 screws per ring as well.
Black Electrical tape on the Scope Bell should change Diameter for the Butler Creek cap?
Great video..I’m thinking of getting the same rifle, but was just wondering if you encounter any feeding issues with this rifle in this caliber.65 prc..???
I actually have feeding issues with this rifle. However, I think the feeding issue has to do more with Savage's action design rather than the 6.5 PRC cartridge itself. My dad and brother own multiple Browning X-Bolt's in 6.5 PRC and the feeding is flawless. The biggest complaint across the board about Savage, as a whole, is their clunky action. It's not the smoothest nor the most reliable, unfortunately.
If you go back and watch my 2022 Mule Deer & Elk Hunt, those are my in the field experiences. After shooting my mule deer, I racked my bolt like any other rifle. Walked up to my dead deer to eject my "loaded" round just to find out that I never actually even chambered a second round. With that experience, I shot my Washington Bull Elk 2 weeks later and after the first shot, I consciously re-rack my second round to make sure it actually went in which it did. My experience is you have to fully hit the back wall when pulling the bolt back for it to catch the next round.
Try the Butler Creek Bikini covers they fit tight when you put them on they will form to the scope bells with time.
Nice video, maybe you can show how to do this with out all the fancy tools? Lol I'm sure there's other videos.
Never even heard of a throw lever. Totally getting one
Rumor has it you added a Salmon River Solutions hunters rail to this rifle. Did they need to take off any material off your stock to add that?
I did add the rail, yes. They just drilled two holes in the stock to attach the rail and that's about it.
@@SamongOutdoors I'm thinking about getting one of their rails. I have something similar to what you're using here in this video. I have a few Savages in a few different chamberings. I hunt mostly in Western WA. where I live. I'm trying a bedding job for the first time on a Savage stock. Have you thought about bedding this rifle? The Savage stocks have a good a lot of flex. I use Wiser Precision Quick-stix with the Quick-Clip to take my bear this year. I really like that setup but it would be better if my stocks are beefy and don't flex under weight but I don't want to add a lot of weight. Is the forehand flexing on you with this rifle?
A couple wraps of Electrical tape will fix your scope cap issue.
What was the rifles bare weight? Seems a lot of wrong advertising on savages website
I didn't weigh it bare but I would say right around 6lbs. Complete setup with the bipod is 8lb 11oz.
Great video Samong! Would you mind posting rifle's total weight without bipod?
7lbs 15oz without the scope and all the other attachments.
@@SamongOutdoors that seems high compared to the website specs. That’s without scope? What about with?
@@highcountryoutdoor I mistyped my comment. It's 7lb 15oz with everything except the bipod.
@@SamongOutdoors thanks Samong!
Why not match the Vortex scope with the Vortex defender caps? I always used them and never had an issue with them. Also It has a very rubbery texture which allows it to stay on the scope very well.
I'm interested in this rifle. Ours are wood stock an factory barrels, 4X12 scope. This rifle stopped me hunting. Our party of 6 brought home: 1-4X4, 2-5X5, 1-6X6, 1-7X7 Bulls. How can any hunt be better!? One of our hunting group had a gun range repair, custom shop. He was disappointed when he found out I used this rifle. After hunt he apologized an changed his opinion! PS we use 145gr for deer, 165gr for elk. 7mm.
Why did you go with second focal plane? Just wondering.
Since this rifle will be partially used for timber hunting, I wanted the larger reticle on low power. And, the LHT 3-15x50 only comes in SFP.
@@SamongOutdoors that makes sense.
Great rifle, personally I would get rid of that flimsy stock.
I have the same issue with my 50mm objective scope and the Butler Creek cap. I’ve read to either use electrical tape around the scope to fit the slightly larger one or heat up the slightly smaller one before pushing it on. I went the slightly smaller route and the cap never quite worked correctly and constantly opened up on its own. I eventually took it off and embraced the Oregon coastal rain on my lens. I’ll probably end up splurging on the manufacturer specific caps.
Question: did you push those scope rings forward before you torqued them down?
Yeah, I guess it's a chance for me to try something new. I didn't really push them forward because there was no slop in the rings that I noticed.
@Samong Outdoors is there a significant recoil reduction from the muzzle brake compared to no muzzle brake at all? I just want to know if the lil chub is worth getting. Thanks
@@huhu8047 Yes, any muzzle brake will tame recoil by a noticeable amount. Be sure to wear ear protection whenever using a muzzle brake.
Awesome looking setup, I also have a pst gen 2 on my tikka superlite 6.5cm and I am highly considering the razor lht 3x15-50. Just for weight saving purposes.
That's pretty much the same reason why I went with the LHT - weight savings.
What kind of performance did the 140 btips give on elk and mule deer?
Mule Deer: I hit high shoulder and spine at 55 yards. Dropped him in his tracks and the bullet fully passed through after expanding. Damage was good and lost a little bit of the backstrap. Never recovered the bullet.
6x6 Bull: I shot him quartering away and slightly uphill at about 250 yards. Bullet entered about 6 inches behind the crease of the shoulder. The bullet did good damage on the left lung, and barely knicked the top of the right lung. The bullet hit the underside of his spine and could not recovered the bullet. He made it 30 yards before going to the ground.
Roosevelt Bull: I shot him broadside (slightest bit of quartering to me) at 250 yards. First shot was high shoulder spine and fully passed through him. He dropped immediately, but he eventually got back up with his two front hooves. I sent a second one and hit right behind the shoulder. The bullet was a perfect mushroom and was recovered underneath the skin of the other side of the hide.
@@SamongOutdoors good to hear. I think the nosler ballistic tip "hunting" not varmint aka 90 grain 243 and up are actually pretty tough bullets for big game.
Btw love your content. Good luck in the future
@tcmoney1321 You are right! The Ballistic Tip is often confused with a Varmint "exploding" bullet. These BT's mushroom how a big game bullet should. Appreciate you watching!
How’s that rifle compare to your browning x bolt?
Both are great rifles for the price point. They're pretty even, overall.
Have the same rifle in 6.5 creedmor 😊 have Leupold 34 mm medium rings with a riton rts 7 5-25x56 mil mil scope Harris bipod and vortex 34 mm bubble level with a digital camo accustock
Does your muzzle brake change your MOA when it is on or off?
It will or can change your Point of Impact, but it should not affect your groups.
Go into some detail do you sight in with or without your muzzle brake on or both? do you hunt with the muzzle brake on or off?
I also have this rifle. I would like to see a video of you'r cleaning process.

Get a suppressor...... game changer
I have the savage axis II in 30.06
How well does it. Shoot?
I have the same gun but in a creedmoor and I have the leupold vx6hd 3x18. This rifle is so accurate consistently shooting 1/2” groups. I shot a cow at 680 and a coyote at 730
Does the manufacturer of the scope tell you what the torque-settings are for each screw?
Yes, you can find that information on their respective websites. I know Talley has their information on their site: www.talleymanufacturing.com/frequently-asked-questions/
@@SamongOutdoors Thank You, Samong.
What’s the overall weight with that setup?
7lbs 15oz without bipod
8lb 10oz with bipod
👍
Hey Samong my name is Micheal I live in Washington and I want to learn how to hunt and and learn all the process. I can see myself learn and have lot of experience from you. So I wanted to ask if it’s possible if I could be in ur video and go hunting
Has your action smoothed out all? It’s terrible in the store
This action is one of the more clunky actions I've used but it has improved as I've used it overtime.
@@SamongOutdoors any issues with it hanging up ever? Or getting stuck while shooting?
@@bradenherle8774 i have had no issues with functionality with the 110 Ultralite. The only thing I've had "issues" with is that when cycling for my second round, sometimes the bolt doesn't catch the second round. With this rifle, the spent round ejects before the bolt hits the back wall. You have to make sure to hit the back wall for the bolt to catch the next round and not only get to the point of ejecting the first round.
STRETCH the 43 OVER THE BELL…. Or LOKTITE THE 44 on.
What is the atlas torque recommendation on their bipods, it’s not just snug. And, hand tight on your muzzle break, you meant have a qualified armed install any muzzle break to avoid injury or death.
got the same rifle but in 6.5 cm.
For the caps, I would just put masking tape or electric tape to give you just enough to fit the size 44.
I was gonna suggest electrical tape as well!
Ultralite setup but with a 2lb scope? I like the scope but the weight is too much for that rifle
21 oz is not the lightest in the market but for a fully-featured scope with premium glass, I've yet to find anything significantly lighter.
@@SamongOutdoorsleupold vx-6hd or swaro z5i
Gaffers tape on the front of the scope should shim it enough and it won't leave tape glue on your scope.

Inch pounds not pounds. In case you have a different torque wrench
Anyone count How many times he said bubble level?
Those don't look like Savage magazines on your shelf, lol.
Loved the content, and this is my next gun to get, been solid on getting it for a fair while. But abit of constructive thoughts, summarise your information, maybe leave the full name out every time you say something, I had to stop watching due to how often you would say "bubble level" drove me nuts.
Other than that, great vid!
YOU NEVER USE LOKTITE ON A SCOPE!!!
Why not just loktite the scope to the bottom base and not worry about the top or screws.
Next sledgehammer your barrel into place, too.
You’re going to have a lot of people screw up and ruin there $1k scopes and rings.
Why aren’t you using Vortex Rings? You didn’t loktite the throw lever?
WOW!!
Then let my $1k scope be the first scope to be screwed up.
Replace the stock. Thank me later!
3 for 3 and you dare change a thing? I guess you are not superstitious..I would of handed it down in its original configuration to my grandchildren along with the stories of the 3x3 season..
If it aint broke, dont fix it!
