    Oddly enough, having played magic for five years now it is easy for me to rewatch Iyanaga play and appreciate the consideration he puts forth. Compared to the magic I watched this year at worlds, Iyanaga played better than basically everyone except for Chapin - I do not believe, after revisiting this, that he was playing exceptionally slow like most of the comments lean towards, he just didn't make a single mistake in any of the three games.
    Thank you Iyanaga for exemplary magic.

      No he was egregiously dragging the game out. Game 2 the turn he used the GSZ to get Viridian corrupted he had a very binary choice: hold it for a titan or get corrupter. The latter deals with a creature that would likely not be as vulnerable the next turn and and he had more than enough pressure from titan he already had in hand. This was not a decision that required a minute of thinking and a judge intervention

    It depends on the format, but yes, you can include multiple sets in one deck.

  • @Turtlehoop
    @Turtlehoop Před 12 lety

    You can google something like "Current Magic Formats" or something like that and you will most likely get linked to the Wizards website, which will give you a lot more information for what you're looking for. The main formats right now are Standard (Type 2), Legacy, Vintage, Modern, and Block. You'll most likely want to look into playing Standard.

    @SSxSnazySnipers Probably either a ritual to do while they're thinking, and/or to hide any clues that they might be favoring/waiting on a particular card. To hide if they have a strong/weak hand and which card might be strong.

  • @gildrop
    @gildrop Před 12 lety

    @ORusty222 That could be part of it, the other part is he REALLY thinks about his plays and a couple of turns ahead. That is the sign of a really good player. He has every right to take his time and think things through

  • @iyenn
    @iyenn Před 12 lety

    @anthonyp1010 No, he payed the birds and the dual land to activate inkmoth, then tapped the inkmoth to pump it another.

  • @TheMasterJoelantino
    @TheMasterJoelantino Před 12 lety

    @stupidtmnet Iyanaga played Galvanic Blast not Shock and Conley only had Etched Champion and Spellskite and Spellskite died because although they didn't show it they announced he slagstormed putting the Spellskite down to a 0/1 until the end of the turn.

  • @TheMasterJoelantino
    @TheMasterJoelantino Před 12 lety

    @deathnotealex But Slagstorm says "Slagstorm deals 3 damage to each creature; Slagstorm deals 3 damage to each player". Since "Slagstorm" is dealing damage anything with protection from Red will not die since Slagstorm which is a red source is dealing damage. With Day of Judgement/Damnation it's not dealing damage, it's destroying. So something with protection from white will still die to Day of Judgement.

  • @MSNking14
    @MSNking14 Před 12 lety

    but they do have the rule that you have to present your deck inside of a certain time. but i certainly do agree with you. shuffle a proper amount but do it with a little bit of respectful pace.

  • @supermanthattay

  • @austincarter6958
    @austincarter6958 Před 12 lety

    They don't have a time limit on T8 matches. Everything needs to be done in an "untimed, but still timely" manner. Nevertheless, tanking and whatnot isn't the problem, if you need to take some time to think that's understandable, but shuffling is fucking shuffling, it shouldn't take 20 minutes.

  • @Listhebaroness
    @Listhebaroness Před 12 lety

    They would, because it's even more frustrating to watch it than to participate on it. I understand him, trying to keep it tight, but then again, it's "unfair" play, because you are making your opponent get frustrated on it. If it was allowed, lots of people would do it as a strategy.

    @ttayttay umm... were you not here a year ago when the only deck being played was Caw Blade? Excuse me, but this format is WAY more diverse than the last.What do you expect? For there to be 50 decks of tournament caliber? its too much info to keep up with. This format has at least 5 decks that are Tournament worthy. Isn't that enough? Also, look at the people piloted the same decks....they are amazing players! it may not just be the deck.

    I may be wrong, but it seems like Iyanaga was using a bit of strategy from Miyamoto Musashi's Book of 5 Rings. In which I believe it aggravating your opponent before the match can sometimes set the tone for the duel. Examples would be to show up late for a duel. Thoughts?
