Hey, Armando. This is a great video, but I caught some stuff that might confuse students. Oculomotor nerve is not just responsible for lens adjustment and pupillary sphincter constriction, but it also controls the 4 out of 6 extrinsic eye muscles, particularly the superior, inferior and medial rectus, as well as inferior oblique. Trochlear controls only the superior oblique.
Who needs to go to school when you have Armando to teach a full semester in 10 minutes!!!! Your videos are so clearly understood and your drawing skills are the icing on the cake, thank you for everything you do.
Armando, thank you so much for your videos!! Love your drawings, too. You are REALLY talented : ) This one was really helpful in referencing the individual cranial nerves along with some of their associated dysfunctions.
Regarding the motor portion of CN VIII - The olivocochlear system is a component of the auditory system involved with the descending control of the cochlea. Its nerve fibres, the olivocochlear bundle, form part of the vestibulocochlear nerve and project from the superior olivary complex in the pons to the cochlea. These efferent fibres are concerned with the active preprocessing of sound and acoustic protection.
Thank you for this video. I am taking neuroanatomy this term and this video is helpful to me. Quick question, I am learning that CN VIII Vestibulocochlear is a sensory nerve from my class and not a [sensory + motor] nerve. The popular "Some Say..." mnemonic also says CN VIII is a sensory nerve. This video says that CN VIII is both sensory and motor. Can you clarify please? Thank you.
Love the explanations. The muscle you're having difficulty pronouncing is sterno cleido mastoid you seem to be adding an n into the middle. Very small point. 99.9% very satisfied customer!
Could you make these videos finish with a shot of the whole image as a summary? Or provide a link to a picture of the whole image? I would find these really useful to revise the whole video from.
excellent video and I believe you reserved the caveat at the beginning that there may be some information that could be added. If people do not like the video then A) go to medical school and then create your own or B) take a shot at it yourself by making a new video. Appreciate your time for some of the effects of cranial nerve damage.
*CORRECTIONS* 5:30 particularly in the forehead? Correction: Trigeminal neuralgia: this usually affects the face or jaw and is not as common in the forehead. 5:44 'Neuralgia which is a cell'. Correction:This is wrong. Neuralgia means pain due to disease of a nerve. 7:36 versicular voster virus? Correction: I think he means Herpes Zoster virus 8:05 'it is a sensory and a motor nerve' Correction: I don't think it has any motor functions 8:35 Correction: Tinnitus is not a spinning sensation - vertigo is the illusion of movement [head spinning sensation as if you just came off a playground roundabout] Tinnitus is a noise in the ear such as ringing in the ears 9:37 Injury can cause pain??? Correction: Glossopharyngeal nerve injury: lesions produce difficulty swallowing; impairment of taste over the posterior one-third of the tongue and palate; impaired sensation over the posterior one-third of the tongue, palate, and pharynx; an absent gag reflex; and dysfunction of the parotid gland. 10:23 Vagus Vagus nerve lesions produce palatal and pharyngeal paralysis; laryngeal paralysis; and abnormalities of esophageal motility, gastric acid secretion, gallbladder emptying, and heart rate; and other autonomic dysfunction. 11:40 sternocleidomastoid
hey! don't be mean! he already said the info may not be complete or if there are any corrections to jot them in the comments...youre here for the videos too so don't make such strong comments against someone who is helping on youtube for free.
roven 08 Vicachcoup actually provided very useful constructive feedback. You just criticise without going through the effort of making videos of your own.
Hi, first I really find your videos very helpful, so thank you for the effort!! Can you please tell me where I can find the pdf file of this video, because I can's find it in your facebook page?
I was told i had pressure damage done to my vagus nerve during a cesarean. The doctor told me the pressure placed on this nerve caused the extreme pain in my upper back and every time i breathed in it hurt so badly! The pain was worse than anything and subsided after a few days. The nurse denied it was real pain and told me i must have a mental disorder. Good times. Im enjoying studying this subject now as she told me the Vagus nerve did not even exist...
With regard to cranial nerve VII, it causes PERIPHERAL facial weakness (Bell's palsy, entire half of face). Central facial weakness would be from damage to an UMN (i.e. stroke, forehead-sparing). Otherwise great video!
Correction on cranial nerve VIII, It only has sensory function, it does not have any somatic motor function. Both hearing (cochlear branch) and equilibrium (vestibular branch) or sensory functions.
just one thing. I don't know if it was a typo but you write M (for motor) on the acustic nerve but actually is an exclusively sensory nerve on both it's components. The muscles in the middle ear are inervated by trigeminal and facial nerve.
i believe focussing can get harder as we age, because we need to slow our busy minds to look more to learning to control our thoughts, movements, reactions......
Geurim Ra This is a really good screen grab program download.cnet.com/ScreenHunter-Free/3000-20432_4-10063246.html. You can snapshot each image and put your own sheet together.
Hello is it possible if you could upload your notes on the video, I know it would take you time. But think about the amount of reward you could get from God rewarding you for every single time someone benefits. If I had the money, I would try to support you

He detailed this in another video
Thank you Armando. You really are helping a lot of people, specially students who does neuroscience on their course.
Who needs to go to school when you have Armando to teach a full semester in 10 minutes!!!! Your videos are so clearly understood and your drawing skills are the icing on the cake, thank you for everything you do.
Very well done! I appreciated your drawing while instructing, this was/is/will be very helpful!
Explained so much clearly and precisely, so much so that, I felt like as if I am in a trance.Thank you very much.It was a revision lesson for me.
This is so awesome I wish I found this before! Great job!
I love the way you teach and draw so well also! Very talented
..... beyond excellent!!!!! you should teach all A&P classes in the world
Well done. you make my learning easier .continue
Thank you for the video and explanation of the disorders!
Armando, thank you so much for your videos!! Love your drawings, too. You are REALLY talented : ) This one was really helpful in referencing the individual cranial nerves along with some of their associated dysfunctions.
Yes absolutely amazing very informative this was my first lecture to watch on youtube I never watched like this before
Doctor Armanda thank you very much for the brilliant tutorial !
Thanks Armando - simple and clear as always!
Pronounced Sterno-clido-mastoid muscle! Love your lectures! Sorry I discovered them late, but still very useful.
Good job my guy. You lived it all
This is amazing man! Real big talent!

brilliant way to describe the lecture!
Awesome review!!! Thank you so much for posting this!
Dude...you ROCK!!!
Good video! I watched it all the way through!
Thank you Armando You are amaaaaaaaazing. This was such a great review.
Very good lecture with a lot of information. Thanks.

thank you sooo much ... your extremely helpful
Thank you so much!
GREAT JOB THANK YOU
Vestibulocochlear nerve has no motoric fibers at all. Thus, it is not a motor nerve.
Wow... Thank you for this all info you are amazing!!!!!
thank you!!:D Your video helps me a lot!!
Very nice video sir...
You are awesome sir
Thank you very much for useful video
Thank you sir
Armando i thinkthis videos are your forst ones they need to be update. you may consider to make new neuroanatomy set or atleast the diffirent ones
Thank You!
1-Marvellous
2-Great
3-Magnificent
Thanks
Love the videos. Thanks. TINNITUS is a ringing or buzzing in the ears, not a spinning head sensation.
Though tinnitus can be accompanied by dizziness depending on where the vestibularcochlear nerve is affected.
its amazing thank you
Love the explanations. The muscle you're having difficulty pronouncing is sterno cleido mastoid you seem to be adding an n into the middle. Very small point. 99.9% very satisfied customer!
Thanks sir....for this video
you are amazing!
Great videos, Armando! I'm so glad I've found them! Great work! =D
And yes, you've misspelled "sternocleidomastoid muscle". I don't mind, though.
Jazakallah Khair ❤
You are the best!
Vestibulocochlear nerve (VIII) is sensory only!

great video but students who is going to sit fr neurology exam..its not enough..but this video is a great start (y)
love ur drawings :)

roven 08 that comment was for roven 08
Why are you so rude? :s Damn!!! This guy has helped me a lot, I got a lot of A's because him, besides in this video he was on his earlies
roven 08 Vicachcoup actually provided very useful constructive feedback. You just criticise without going through the effort of making videos of your own.
amazing thank you.
Instant fan. I am not savvy enough to catch the inaccuracies others have mentioned, but pls peoples, explain the errors you feel exist.
Thank you so much for your expert about the Brain. ^*^
tq so much sir
good teacher
This is good 🙌🏾

How did you draw these...
Outstanding explanation

very helpful and informative video
informative
your videos are so helpful! it is so interesting with all the colors and great draw . i wish i have seen all of your videos before my exams :(
Awesome buddy
i love the video and where can i get the full video of the presentation?
Hey nice videos! Keep up the good work! You should add more tags to your videos!
just one thing. I don't know if it was a typo but you write M (for motor) on the acustic nerve but actually is an exclusively sensory nerve on both it's components. The muscles in the middle ear are inervated by trigeminal and facial nerve.
Very clear, and great drawings. Now I know which ones of mine don't work well, and a cure would be nice!
have you found anything to help?
No, it’s much, much worse now. Having trouble focusing.
i believe focussing can get harder as we age, because we need to slow our busy minds to look more to learning to control our thoughts, movements, reactions......
Awesome!!! thank you :)
you should do a video of vagus nerve which is complicated THANKS!!!!
Great video, thank you! Is there any way of getting a screenshot of the whole page please? So I could print it off and learn it, thanks a lot :)

hi! do you have the diagrams for this? their really helpful! thank youu so much
you tried to trick me there with the 8th one. 😁 pay attention!
Hey thanks, what do you suggest?
