  • MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet - in collaboration with 5 other donors - has unveiled six new classrooms for Nederburg Primary School in the Paarl, Western Cape.
The new classrooms for Grade R and Grade 7 learners replaces the six old classrooms, all of which were in disrepair having housed learners for more than 50 years. Through a collaboration with the Western Cape Education Department (WCED), the donors’ funds were matched to 40 percent, making it possible for the more than R1.8 million upgrade to take place. The opening was followed by a distribution of fruit and Nederburg Primary-branded rulers to
the 850 learners who attend the no fee institution. The 212 learners who will be utilising the new
classrooms also received age-appropriate books to take home.
“Almost half of the learners that attend our school come from single-parent or foster-care
homes” says Nederburg Primary’s principal, Melville Lawrence. “I am delighted to be able to
now offer safe, well-ventilated classrooms where learners can thrive in their schooling.”
