For what it's worth, it is a lot more interesting and helpful for the student or audience member when the instructor (you) does a demo of what they are doing the lesson on before they go into the lesson. Otherwise it seems like a big mess until it comes together at the end. IMHO.
Thanks! I love his stuff! I bought a mid-range Guild 12-String about five years ago and have been trying to learn more - but it's hard to find guys who teach this stuff. He has a song called "Travelin' Blues" that I really love but have never been able to nail down exactly how to play it. He has so many great songs - I'll try to do a few more in the future. I know how to play about 6-7 of his other songs - East St. Louis Blues is one of my favorites.
Yeah, Travelin' blues is definitely his masterpiece! Hauntingly beautiful. May I suggest you take a look at Joshua Jacobson's channel, he is a great player out of Georgia, plays a ladder brace 12 string and has covered a lot of Blind willie's songs. I'm nowhere near this level of playing, I'm 22 and have been playing for 3 years but really can only do lightnin' Hopkins and Mance Lipscomb, this more ragtime-y stuff seems like it has a long learning curve to it! anyways, keep up the good work!
Ok the tuning he is in is tuned down to C F Bb Eb G C. That's low strings to high. Hey Mr. Blues teacher, you number the strings starting from the high E, that's 1 and the low E is 6. It's a rule and it's not one you get to change. You're welcome!
@@manchot Oh...? is it different in England like driving on the left side? There were only 3 people confused on the tuning if you look at the comments due to the non standard and incorrect communication from the teacher. Of course it's only the tuning...
Suggestion: Start by playing the whole song through. This is the context into which your breakdown licks fit. Playing the sections out of context is a disservice to the viewer. If a viewer sees/hears the song straight up, he can decide if it's one he wants to learn or if his skill level will permit it. Play the entire song through......break it down......and play it through again.
Again. I prefer to do it my way which requires the listener/learner to listen to the ORIGINAL recording. That alone should be enough to help one decide whether or not they want to play it. If not, I don't get it. I wish I had the time to do it the other way. Since I am a full-time public educator - it's hard to find that extra time right now. If it's some kind of "disservice" - I'm sorry. This is MY channel and MY lessons. I'm not getting rich off this in any way. In fact, I'm probably losing money since I could find students for face-to-face lessons in my area and get paid a LOT more for it. In short, for the moment, you can take it or leave it - sorry, wish I could do more. If you focus on the instruction and discussion, you are getting A LOT for nothing or very little. Go to the search box, type in the song and artist, give it a listen. That's not too hard to do in my mind - that's how I approach things I want to learn.
@@OldSchoolBluesGuitar Good for you. I cannot believe how rude some people are. THANK YOU for your generosity. If anyone has done a "disservice" here it is this fellow. Please just ignore him and keep doing what you do. "Disservice" --- sheesh!!!

@@jesterruth1238 I actually agree with the comment to the extent his suggestion would be an improvement. But I agree with the poor guy who kindly spent his time on the lesson to the extent that by using the comment "disservice" it seemed offensive to him. I suppose he did not intend it that way though and I wonder why he did not follow up to explain he meant no offense. . These kind of misunderstandings can happen through a poor choice of words.

this is surreal seeing you, my favorite youtuber, giving a lesson on Mctell, my favorite musician! A pleasant surprise. Thank you!
