- Blue (Bill Cosby) is an airport redcap struggling to get by and support his family. He takes on several odd jobs so he can earn enough money to buy them a house and move out of the ghetto, even though his wife, Serena (Gloria Foster), would rather he work less and spend more time with his son, Vandy (Dennis Hines). At first, Blue is unwavering in his desire to earn more money, but when Vandy is diagnosed with sickle-cell anemia, the hardworking father is forced to change his priorities. I remember this as a child. Loved Gloria Foster. A dynamic actress before succumbing to cancer. This the era when Black men walked tall and strong and protected family and community. None of this stuff with men wanting to dress like Big Mama and aunties! Late 80s men started leaving their families as plants in the cities closed and crack cocaine became an alternative to hiring honest money. Lil boys left with no role model but Mama, grandmom and key females in their lives. Now they confused, preferring to be she-male and lil girls growing up without father figures being used and abused and becoming strippers. Even if this was a poor family that husband and wife were ride or die. Listen to their dialog in this movie. He addresses alternative to being a hard worker to being a hustler and getting locked up and "leaving you unattended." This is the love I grew up seeing. Men protecting family and being providers. Bill was handsome
This movie was so good I can't stop thinking about it a day later. That portrayal of a black family was so beautiful, so profound and so real that it nourished my soul. I saw my own father in Blue. I never even knew about this movie, and it has hit me so hard that I'm still reeling from it. It really shined a light on just how much today's TV shows and movies are pure trash and poison. I don't know how any black person could watch Love and Hip Hop or Empire or think about Cardi B or Offset after seeing this. I saw 1,000 times the dignity and honor in that family's struggle and love than in Future buying his 6 year old a Rolex and 10 Lambos.
I cried to my self and think of the same way. My father is like blue but he had a carpenter job forty/ fifty dollars an hour, that couldn't fit the value of blue, but he work some money to ge t out of those Inglewood projects,we lived in the garden bill today area in the Bronx. I do miss the tall buildings and subway cars. Thank d to all the blues around this world, jusy keep you n planning a good will.
The old timers are the best of all of us.
My wife's father was like this, As a blind man, he kept a "good" hustle to provide for his family. Running a small homestead to make ends meet for his family was what kept him being proud.
Wow I didn't know that Mr. Cosby did a film with the legendary Gloria Foster. This film must've been buried under the archives. Thanks Mike and Charles for unburying this.

The Oracle
It was actually a made for TV movie shown as a 2-hour 'special'! I forgot what network, but I believe it was NBC.
Hey! I had to double look at this comment. When I saw your name. I was like, when did I type this, then I saw the er at the end of your name 😆 😆
Bill made more than 1 film with Gloria Foster- Man And Boy, Top Secret & Leonard Part 6. Plus she appeared on The Cosby Show, I Spy & The Bill Cosby Show too.
Bill Played The Hell out of this Role! Top Bill'N
Never saw this Bill Cosby movie. BLACK LOVE IS FOREVER!!! NOTHING LIKE IT...💗💗💗
I love this movie and Dr. Bill Cosby!!
I LOVE BILL COSBY, THIS MOVIE WAS FILMED THE YEAR I WAS BORN 46 YEARS AGO. THIS IS A GOOD MOVIE.
♥️🙏🏾 Bill Cosby 🙏🏾♥️ 🙇🏾 I will always love and respect him the original king of comedy ❤️

I feel your pain deeply. I am still struggling on this topic.
I love 💘You Mr. Cosby !!!
I remember renting this movie a long time ago. Way before blockbuster😊
A real tear jerker. 😢
hey, Hey, HEY!! Thanks for the video today!!!
A very solid film with a great plot...the cast is on point too. Gloria Foster looks extra fine with that banging afro!
Such a great movie... My eye's well up everytime I watch it.... Bill in his 30's... An epic family film.
Please keep them Cosby classics coming 👍
Yes, please! And Bill Cosby just got out of prison as well! Let’s continue to celebrate his prolific work!
Yet another relatively unknown gem. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks for the upload...
THIS IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE WATCHED IT MANY TIMES BEFORE!!
Thank you
Great movie. Thank you.
I'm still a fan of Cosby.
I enjoyed watching this film. It's good to see a Black family on the screen that isn't dysfunctional.
Let Bill Cosby go
Yessss!!!!
What ya taking about I'm kicking back and w atching this SPEAK for ypurself
The very foundation of amerikkka is "some dark shit" and remains perpetuated by "some dark shit"! That is exactly why "some dark shit" currently occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!
@______ Cosby didn't do anything more anything darker than the average weekend partygoer who enjoy party drugs and alcohol. Everybody at Studio 54 and the Playboy Mansion sex, cocaine, and qualudes. Hollywood has produced multiple documentaries on this and celebrate it. The women he dealt with liked drugs trust and believe.
I never seen this one with Bill Cosby @reelblack thanks for my popcorn night 😊📽️🍿
Me either. Thanks for showing 😋🍿🍷🍺🍕
Beautiful film. Beautiful last line.
I love watching quality Black films! We need more of these!
This was definitely a great flashback of the 70’s Black family life people definitely didn’t show the power couple struggles with some positive in the house husband didn’t drink just found more useful way to make money these are facts
A great movie, good storyline. It was a pleasure watching this film!
I always thought Gloria Foster was so beautiful. She was married to Clarence Williams, III and she played the part of the Oracle in the Matrix.
This movie is great and most don’t even know it exists.
Good piece of art right here.
Legendary
Bill Cosby also had Beautiful Gloria Foster appear on his television show. I have ALWAYS LOVED this movie!🥰👏❤
Beautiful film. Excellent acting from all 3 main characters. Great storyline.
trivia: the lady who plays the wife is the original Oracle from the first and second Matrix
yup..facts
Although I was old enough to have remembered this film I never saw it. I bet it was not shown much because it shows a black man as and active father, husband and provider, something the whitestream media doesn’t want to present as a side of our society that has ALWAYS existed!!!
Yeah, the 70 plus percent rate of single parenthood is the White man's fault and holding back 50 year old Cosby movies was part of the plot. Stop it.
@@CinqueMalcolm If you think people can't see the propaganda of white supremacy, then you're an idiot, or evil. not everyone drinks the kool aid you love.
@@Cerl84 Stop with the bitchmade name calling. I'm about accountability and fixing my own house, not peddling in conspiracy theories regarding White Supremecy and being a sucker waiting for others to fix my community. FOH with that victimhood mentality.
CinqueMalcolm No you stop it! You are clearly missing my damn point!
This movie had me about to ugly cry😭
Best print I've seen of this film.
Wow, they don't show this on tv anymore. I haven't seen this since the early '70s. Brings back good memories of growing up. Thanks for posting.
Nothing Cosby did exists anymore. That's the way the man wants it.
last time I saw this on tv I was 8 and that was 1986
Same here. I haven't seen this since it first aired, when I was about 10. This movie captivated me right away, and gave me so much to think about, even at such a young age. I'm delighted to be able to watch it again!
Black Cinema from the '70's is the best! *Uptown Saturday Night, Let's Do It Again, Which Way Is Up, Car Wash, Claudine, Shaft, The Mack, Lady Sings The Blues, Mahogany, The Wiz, Foxy Brown, Coffy, Three The Hard Way, Blacula, The Call Me Mister Tibbs, Cornbread Earl and Me, Dolemite,* just to name a few.
They don't make them like they use to. The 70's were the best.
@@blacktigeress6035 @Black Tigeress YES! But I have to give Honorable Mentions to a few movies from the '80's. *The Color Purple, Glory, A Soldier's Story, Coming To America, Lean On Me, Do The Right Thing, School Daze, Harlem Nights, Purple Rain, I'm Gonna Git U Sucka, Beverly Hills Cop, Hollywood Shuffle, Cry Freedom, The Last Dragon, She's Gotta Have It,* just to name a few...lol. I don't think the Era any Black Film was released is more important than the fact that Black People are just all around talented. No matter the era, Black Cinema has steadily released Gems and Classics. ^_^
Wow what a good movie.
Im loving all these blk movies. I never knew there were do many.
The same media that builds "one" up destroys them too many times with the weapons given to them, wisdom and knowledge arrives with time
Our Afro picks kept our fro's pick out, hair ornament and was a weapon for self defense also! Remember the many styles they came in. One up side the head! Have not heard that in a long time.
Beautiful cosby and foster marvelous
An emotional movie , good performances. Dr Bill Cosby did the music also. Beautiful Gloria Foster played the mother . Remember This from the 70s.
Cosby and the Oracle!!!!
B1 ✊🏾 Loved this throwback of my childhood 😊
Cosby and Foster did the film Man and Boy together also.
So many thanks for finding and sharing this, I've never heard of it, but I'm very interested to see it.
This CZcams channel needs some type of NAACP award or something...takes my breath away the things I've learned about Black cinema/history on this channel....80 percent of the content I've never heard of before....what used to be and what could've of been... Bill showed black family's in a beautiful light.. they wanted to get rid of that image and bring in mess like love and hip hop..
Stop it you are gonna make me cry. Thanks for the love.
This was a good movie. Never heard or seen this movie. Thanks.
Good movie but knowing what we know now sickle cell doesn’t have to be a death sentence. I’m still a Bill fan too, who cares what other people think.
Great movie. This is the first time that I didn't have any problems hearing the movie. The volume on this one was explosive to my ears. 😂😂😂
That was a good movie. The son was a good actor, very believable, not gimmicky.
Great film thanks
Gloria Foster starred in Nothing But A Man. One of my favorites. Would love to see that on here.

@@MacroX1231 thanks. Much appreciated
😲Wow! A black man saying to his black wife "No,that's my job."
Thank you for uploading this film . It was deleted a few years back .

Beautiful movie...
Nice movie
Good film love it
I miss Bill.
this movie was film in my hometown in norwalk ct got chance to talk to him on my way walking to work in the movie you can see two projects washington village and roodner ct plus notwalk hospital
a rather slow movie but such good family values. I was kind of teary eyed at the end love the last scene
The Oracle
NICE
You know he's in prison for absolutely nothing, right? I mean he has literally committed no crime. It is purely political. You can't have that much wealth and influence and be off the script, its that simple, and he was off script, therefore an outsider with too much money and influence, and he was taken out. Our elder statesman and father, who has funded black causes and business ventures to the tune of tens of millions of dollars, has been thrown in prison, in his 80s. Yet the Epstein club skated (and skates). They have brutalized proud, honorable, beloved Dr. Huxtable in his golden years. Lennon. MLK. JFK. The good guys always fare the same in this place. For this reason, for me, there can be nothing within this entity ever to vote for. Ever.
Amen. U said it all
Agreed!!!!!!
@______ he was part of the industry of bringing us positive enriching black art and life like this film. you can go hype that white folk bullshit someone place else.
kofi moseley, you have an extraordinary understanding of the circumstances surrounding the persecution and prosecution of the beloved Bill Cosby!! Unfortunately, so many people are manipulated by the media and think only what they are told to think!!
Don't forget they also went after him after he tried to buy NBC smh.
I grew up in this housing project where they shot this movie in south norwalk Connecticut they just tour the project down a year ago
Washington village was the name of housing project
Wow
Excellent
Bill Cosby is the man and am not bothered about the bullshit that they accusing him of.
Bill is still funny and inspiring too.
Although the late great comic legends of Richard Pryor and Dick Gregory are my heroes Bill Cosby is also a great comic legend.
When u stoo making money for them time to try an take it.back
I didn’t know about this movie. Thank you I enjoyed it
OMG! This one was Key! Same as the flick with Lee Christmas!!! "Smoke!!! I thought we had us one here!!!"
Another great life lesson courtesy of Dr Huxtable!
Well, Bill Cosby was solid, of course, and I always enjoy Gloria, but the real star of the show has to be young Foster Dennis Hines.
Wow,new to me,but I will check it out as soon as I get home.
Wahoo 1971?
Serena was played by Gloria foster her husband was Clarence Williams 111 best known as Lincoln aka Linc hayes on mod squad way back then both of them was good friends with Bill Cosby and Bill Cosby discovered Clarence Williams 111 make him got the part as linc hayes on mod squad send to him Aaron spelling and Danny Thomas office the rest is history a few days after this made for tv movie was made Gloria foster and Bill Cosby will play husband and wife in a western movie called man and boy and George spell played they son its one of Bill Cosby first movie he did and be starring in movies for many years to come
ReelBlack Producers, I've been trying to think of the name of this movie that came out in the seventies I think, It was about a Brothah that played a respectable husband and father living in an upscale neighborhood, would leave for work and become a pimp and pusher, with his family and neighbors none the wiser. He was seen by a neighbor lady by accident, whom wasn't sure it was him!!! Don't remember who played in it, hope you guys can figure it out
Thank you, so very much!!

Gloria Foster should have played Billie Holiday instead of Diana Ross in 'Lady sings the blues'.
The vagabond drain excitingly suggest because show definitely appreciate towards a thick atm. damp, hanging pear
Pill Cosby - Inmate Number NN7687
Shir b. just to confirm...I said 'I thought the movie was GARBAGE' this is MY OPINION.
