When my friend and I were 19 we worked in the instrument sterilization room in a hospital. One day we sang this beautiful song, I sang melody and she sang harmony. After a little while of us blissfully singing "Morning has Broken" the Nurse Manager of the Surgery Dept down the hall came to us and said "I'm sorry, girls, but I need to ask you to stop singing. The patients in the Recovery Room are waking up thinking they've died and gone to heaven." True story.

It's the added maturity to his velvety tones.

I was at high school when he was at his peak and now i am 66yo. I still love his music.!! There are singers who truly are classic and he is one of them.

In 1973 I was staying on the third floor of an old Creole house in Freetown, Sierra Leone, jammed with old dressers. It was a depressing room to sleep in but was lit up at 6 am with the strains of Cat Stevens singing "Morning Has Broken". I looked out over the city - not a person in sight. That may classify as one of the miracles of my life.

One of my favorite Cat Steven’s songs. I was young and a college student then and folk songs were trending. I played this song with a borrowed guitar since I could not afford to buy my own and this became my oldest brother’s favorite too. When he died we played this song at his funeral. I am 70 now and I still play this song once in a while.
Your voice just gets better and better with age. Seeing you in concert was such a joy and well worth the 40 year wait.

I like this one more than the original because he has stood up for things that shouldn't be silenced. People everywhere need to truly work as one and stop letting the fear of what some may not fully understand stop them. When EVERYONE is truly capable of that, something tells me morning will truly be broken for each of us. Until that time, we can listen to songs like this in awe. There have been so many who have been judged harshly, etc. throughout history that it's wonderful to see someone having the guts to do what we all truly should do.
