  • "Knorhaan [ Knawr-Hahn ]
A native South African name for a species of saltwater fish found in the Western Indian Ocean, known as the Spotted Grunter. Historically they were difficult to almost impossible to catch on fly but in recent years legendary South African anglers have developed techniques that slightly increased the odds for the angler."

Thanks to Attie Gunter and Henkie Altena for guiding and hosting us on this trip and to MC Coetzer and Jannie Visser for sharing advice and most of all unlocking Grunter on fly for us mere mortals.

Hi Rod, they were fishing with 7wt and 9wt outfits with floating lines and 10lb/12lb tippet. This particular fish came out on the 7wt with Henkie's famous Agha fly.

FishTubeTV thanks for the feedback 👍🏼 always great to hear what the top guys are using. P.S. any time the boys want to come try their luck on a few Grunt in Knysna/ Sedgefield area, more than happy to look after them.
