Taylor, you may have worked it out already, but I think the bolt that holds the column to the rack should slide between the two sections of spline. You'll need to pull the bolt out and it should slip on further.

Rhys you are dead right. Taylor, take out that bolt and do as Rhys says or you may end up with the top spline stripping out giving total steering loss!

@@VinWeiLee27171 I'm not building one, I have the Mazdaspeed Miata but I'm in love with these Exocet so I follow a lot of people that's building theirs and it's known that the wire harness is the best part 😅. But it sounds like you are building one yourself, are you done with it or still going?
ERICK4431 yeah, I got one. Just finish building it 2 weeks ago. Installing harness is ok, getting it to work without cluster lighting up like a Christmas tree is...something

Yeah, I'm definitely putting off the wiring for the last step, but I plan to keep it pretty simple, no trimming until I get the car started, and even then I might just leave it alone. I love watching these Exocet builds as my chassis is finished with welding and going through powder coat. Question for whoever, recommended car cover for an Exocet? My garage will be used for the build but its my home shop as well so I will need an outdoor solution eventually.

They've all been super helpful, along with the FB group as well. It takes a village to build these, but it's a great village for sure! I'm pumped for your build, what powder color did you choose? As far as the cover, last time I was there we had talks of a custom cover, but they all vary so much it may have fallen through. The one I've been using is a cover I got for my mom's 380sl since I was taking up the garage space before the chassis was mounted. It's been good inside, but is likely too big for any sort of wind. Summer delSol funny you mention it, I’m in the middle of rewatching the CrossThreaded build “SEVEN DAYS!!!!!!!!”. I decided on Harley Orange for the powder coat with graphite black for the few body pieces. If it makes it here in 2 weeks, happy birthday to me!!! Time to start tearing down my donor for that sweet sweet roller skate. Keep up the great videos, you’re nearly there!

GO BACK TO THE STEERING RACK. Take out the screw and push the rack in deeper. The screw should hold the rack from pulling out. This is dangerous, fix it ASAP.
You need to remove that bolt fully from the u-joint to the steering rack--and once the u-joint is pushed fully on the splined shaft on the rack, insert the bolt into the u-joint and through the groove in the splined shaft. The way you have it in the video isn't going to be safe at all.
Oh I see, the best way to use your time is to NOT stack heaps of stuff on the project between work sessions then talk myself out of doing something because of mentioned stacked stuff.....unlike myself.
Hahah!! Listen, we all fall victim to it, mine sat for far too long as well! I try and treat it like the gym, as long as you stay consistent, you don't have to do too much each time. It's been a lot of little work here and there each Sunday for me, and it feels like it's finally getting somewhere!
