While staying with his family in Oklahoma for a brief spell, our guest Brandon was going to visit his friend in Arkansas a for a quick weekend camping trip. On the way there, he decided to make a stop in Fayetteville to get a little of that sticky icky green stuff for a little extra enjoyment. (This was in 2017- well before it was legal in most states.) When Brandon finally found someone who said she had a connection who could hook him, he was stoked. Unfortunately, her connection had other ideas- which included a concrete slab to Brandon’s skull, and a steel toe boot to Brandon’s face (15+ times). Robbed and left for dead, Brandon somehow survived. And THIS is when Brandon’s story REALLY gets wild. Trust us when we say- if there’s one episode you wanna listen to or watch all the way to the very end, this is the one!

Brandon is my nephew. To watch this was very emotional even though
Our family went through it with him. His is a inspiration on toughness and forgiveness. We all love him for his courage and empathy. Not many others could sympathize for a guy who had zero sympathy for him. Brandon keep going in the positive direction you have.
It took a hell of a lot of courage for this man to tell this story. I can tell it was very difficult for him but he really pushed thru and gave us a great story.

This is the first episode where I felt the story in my bones. Not to say the previous episodes/guests weren’t genuine, but you can feel the pain this man went through via his story telling. I’m left with the feeling of wanting to give him the biggest hug in the world.
I totally felt this too, and during the actual interview. Brandon is such a raw, open person. Impossible not to get wrapped up in his story, the way he tells it!
This was wild. I’m SO thankful he is ok and still here!! It’s honestly so sad to me how people can hurt others so brutally over the smallest thing. And then he forgave him!? That is the true lesson in this whole story. Wow wow wow. ❤ I’m glad he was able to share his story with us. 🙏🏼

Crazy story, particularly the part where a picture was taken at the scene. I'm glad Brandon is ok. He seems like a good dude. I read a comment below along the lines of "don't do illegal stuff & things like this won't happen." He was out of town buying a bag of tree, it's not that serious and it certainly didn't warrant what transpired. Definitely want to commend Matt on doing what a lot of talk show hosts/podcasters DON'T do & that's let the guest(s) talk.
Honestly, what you just said is about letting the guest talk- that is a big reason why I wanted to do this show. Yes I’m the host, and I definitely understand the instinct as the host to want to talk more / even talk over guests sometimes. But I think it’s almost always the case that it’s ultimately better when the guest is allowed to have the space to tell their story, and for them to tell it their way. SO, this is my long winded way of saying- thanks for this comment, it made me feel good!!! 🙏🏼🤙🏼🙏🏼

Does the judge who lowered the bail for the already proven piece of shit have any sort of consequence or at least a follow up discussion with a superior to understand what caused their lack of judgement in that moment?
You can put up cars, boats, houses, etc to a bail bondsman to get someone out of jail. They'll pay it & if you skip bail(court) bondsman gets whatever was put as collateral. Grandma probably put the deed to her house up or something.

Can’t help but think this assailant had maybe done this before. If he’s selling weed in bars/parking lots to folks he doesn’t know and so quickly and easily brutally attacks them for under a hundred bucks? Zero conscience or regard for a stranger’s life. All in a night’s work.
