I got the chance to compare both Mikasa original Figma figure and a fake copy of it. At first glance they look very similar, but once you start to look in detail many differences are visible, specially in the details and performance.
What makes Figma figures so interesting in my opinion is that they can be easily animated in stop motion. There is no doubt that the original Figma figure is incredible for it, but the fake copy is more of a headache on those terms. Its joins are quite "loosy" and make animation complicated.
It is easy to understand the price difference between both of them when you compare their performance. - Krátké a kreslené filmy

As someone who's a cheap SOB, I went ahead and bought three bootlegs of Ebay.
I'm not a collector, and I just wanted something on my shelf. They'll collect dusk anyway, so I don't really mind.

If you buy any Attack On Titan merchandise. it is very easy to spot the fake ones! Just make sure the packaging includes a little but shiny Kodansha trademark sticker! :D

I have 3 figmas and there all original and they don't have the sticker ;-; ik there originally cus I have there bootleg counter parts, I have rem and ram from re:zero do they have a sticker? Cus mine don't ;-;

I think out of all the fake figmas figures, the Attack on Titan one would be the last one you should considered getting because it has so many thing that are supposed to go together but they don’t

Yes the hands are the same and wepons are same (sometimes with colour veriations... i buy the bootlegs beacause they are a lot cheaper and i still get the thrill of owning them... most people cant tell they are fake unless they own or have studied origionals... the toy story woody is identicle to the origional though)
I know it is kinda late to tell you, but the main problem with bootleg is that they use toxic plastic, which can be high risk to your helth. And also questionable labours (kids, slaves etc.) . Otherwise it is pretty similar.

I got a Mikasa figma from a convention I went to last month. I got it for £24.50 or something like that. I though it was in a sale. I notice that the joints were pretty loose at the legs and feet and the arms and legs looked pretty gapy. Also, one of her hands broke off at the joint.

me too! the joints are too loose ... i bought mikasa, levi and eren figma... but after watching this I realized they're all fake.....
To be fair for £8-14, this is kind of a reasonable trade off;)
The only reason I ever bought a bootleg was because I got lazy waiting to save up and wanted it now. I'm bad.
I got a fake Levi and Mikasa yesterday, and thankfully they didn't look AS cheaply made like the one in this vid. They got the colors down nicely and the details are pretty good, very little flaws. Only problems I had as the scarf, jacket, and skirt were hard as stone, joints were very loose, and a part of the maneuver gear broke off. (And also didn't come with an official figma stand or instructions). Thank God I only paid about $25 a piece for both. They'll be good for now until I get the real thing

As much as i want the legit, i ended up with the bootleg cus I'm on a really tight budget. The bootleg is ok just prepare some floor polish or whatnot
Word of advice, do not buy from ebay from Chinese sellers. Maybe some Hong Kong sellers, but check that they state it is an authentic product. I remember I bought a Fate Stay Night saber figure thinking it was legit...nope. It was utter garbage..this fake is actually pretty decent compared to the piece of crap I got. Now I just buy either from USA buyers or Japan.

Maaan truee! i just recently bought a bootleg mikasa. Well it's more decent than the one in this video but still. Well i guess i really paid for a bootleg price (20$) oh well back to amazon i guess or legit jp site. Ebay sure is full of crap not gonna go there anymore. Those chinese selllers uuuurrghhhh! I wanted to buy a couple of bootlegs eren/mikasa to make an army, I currently have all original 4 from figma but wanted to increase my corps, I see it's pretty noticeable a fake one but thats ok, my really concern is, are they really that loose? if they cant stand on their own then there is no point in buying

The aot figmas are hard to sculpt and others, so that's why they're so expensive as they consume a LOT of time.
I was lucky to buy Mikasa from Amazon as Amazon is one of the good places for legit figures. Only that Amazon doesn't have all figmas.

I think mine was a bootleg. it had very bad paint details and the joints broke in about a day. it also didn't let the swords come off of the handle

You save me from one buying Eren+Mikasa on ebay.... high price and seller say official but with one photo box and review i can see some point looks like the fake (sticker on box / elbow pin / color plastic red and not brown)
not all fake figures are bad, depends on luck, I for example, I have a figure so perfect that came up with manual (something very rare to happen) and I have one so bad that came with 1 pair of two left hands.
(I only buy fake, because in my country 50 cents equals 13 US cents. If an original figure is expensive for you, imagine for me, it's impossible)

at least I can use bootleg figures for dioramas... like err... blood-splattered dead body, or an army build from a distance, or a horde of zombies, or a jet-black shadow, or a familiar of Walpurgisnacht.

Aaron Ford Angeles I got mine from Amazon, but make sure to look and read the buyers reviews about the sellers. There are a couple of them that have very high reviews (and many high rates from different products they sell). Those are the one you get confidence to buy from. Of course the best would be to buy it on a store where you can check the figure.

Yes! If you click their company name there should be many other figmas. My mom recently got one for me as a early Christmas present and it was the real deal. They are totally worth it. Make sure to read the reviews first!
Strangely enough I got the knock off Mikasa and surprisingly she’s actually very good. Her chest joint was slightly loose but other than that she’s pretty good might buy a official Figma Mikasa just have to find one.

Sorry for slight necro, but IMO, I would stay away from anime stores at malls and whatnot or venders at conventions. No matter how reputable they may seem, they themselves may be unaware they have fakes in stock. As for buying figmas and figurines online, you'd best buy from sellers that show they operate from Japan, like AmiAmi or are officially associated, like Crunchyroll's store.
Stay away from places that ship from China (ex: AliExpress, the majority of sellers on eBay, ridiculously cheap products). Just because they have good reviews doesn't mean they're selling the real thing; people are just gullible. And just because they use the official image doesn't mean they're official, either. Check myfigurecollection if counterfeit/bootleg versions exist and compare.
On Amazon, it appears that most official corporations are selling their legitimate products - they should have verification on their page. However, check specifically who's selling it and see where they ship from, as you'll see the reviews include people who bought the same product shipped by Amazon but through different sellers.

Hmm - I got a Ka'nu Unchou Figma from Japan - her box doesn't have the sticker BUT she was packaged well - and she didn't seem to have any bad paint jobs or such - and that all her accessories were fine and the fact that the stand had Copyright Made In China whereas a bootleg usually has just Made in China ... and the Ka'nu Unchou I have didn't seem to have any bad joints or such and she was packaged alright ...
HeirofGojira91 Did you buy it in a store or online? Does the stand has FIGMA typed on it? Do the clothes "feel" gentle and flexible to your touch or they are rigid? I mean, thee are many thins but without seeing it its hard to tell. The sticker is always something that can bring security and confidence. The other one is the price, if it is cheap.. then... I would doubt.

Louis Peters The basic rule is to make sure that the seller has many good reviews. Amazon has this thing called Market Place where anyone can sell anything and amazon is just in the middle. The problem with that is that you have no warranty from amazon, just form the seller, which could be any person, not even a company... This is why is VERY IMPORTANT that you read the reviews from other buyers, and make sure you can trust the seller. Some of them might have a webpage where you can see that they are a serious store and so on. It would be easier to have an official Figma store online or seller through Amazon...

Gen Price The problem with original figma is that they are very expensive. Amazon could be a good place, but look for product/seller reviews there. Amazon market place can be tricky some times since anyone can sell there and they do not have to be registered as a company. So a carefull look at the reviews is a must if you are buying there.
Another option is to look for a local figma distributor in your country. Still it will be expensive, these figures are.
