Brothers Brían and Diarmuid MacGloinn, of the Irish duo Ye Vagabonds, put their rich influences of Irish traditional music and Appalachian singing to good use on their version of this popular
traditional song. Joined by Alan McFadden on harmonium, this performance was recorded during the Shaped by Music concert at Cape Breton Highlands Academy in Belle Côte on October 11, 2018.
We finally have an heir to Luke Kelly. Luke would be impressed I'm sure.
This is a masterpiece these guys are absolute unbelievable musicians it doesn’t get any better
They are WAY to good to top ANY list.
That guy has a great voice, personal and emotional as well as traditional. And I like very much the way he play the bouzuki. Would like to see those guys live on stage
God can they move the Irish spirit in one… just opens the heart …what a gift 🍀🍀💜
Can these guys be any more perfect? I just never get tired of those harmonies
I absolutely love these guys. What a beautiful voice, perfect song and harmonies. And he plays that instrument so beautifully. Love them.
I guess the CZcams algorithm isn't completely useless if I discover such beautiful music.
This is just fantastic! First time hearing them, but will definitely be searching out more of their music!
Beautifully sung, reminds me of a young Roy Williamson.
Beautiful voice and instrumentation! Love this!❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This is a fantastic song and sound
This must have been before Brian realised he could play the squeezy box thing with his heel, thereby splitting the fee in two rather than three.
Just joking lads.
This is some of the finest singing and playing I have heard for years. More power to your elbow.
Beautiful, thanks for sharing, first time to hear Ye Vagabonds.
Takes me to another place everytime.

The love that I have chosen I therewith be content
The salt sea shall be frozen before that I repent
Repent it shall I never until the day I dee
But the lowlands of Holland has twined my love and me.
My love lies in the salt sea and I am on the side
It's enough to break a young thing's heart that lately was a bride.
But lately was a bonny bride with pleasure in her e'e.
But the lowlands of Holland has twined my love and me.
My love he built a bonny ship and set her on the sea
With seven score good mariners to bear her company.
But there's three score of them is sunk and three score dead at sea
And the lowlands of Holland has twined my love and me.
My love has built another (or: a nether) ship and set her on the sea
And nane but twenty mariners all for to bring her hame.
But the weary wind began to rise, the sea began to roll
And my love then and his bonny ship turned with the shins about.
There shall nae a quiff come on my head nor comb come in my hair
There shall neither coal nor candlelight shine in my bower mair.
And neither will I marry until the day I dee
For I never had a love but one and he's drowned in the sea.
Oh hold your tongue my daughter dear, be still and be content.
There's men enough in Galloway, you need not sore lament.
Oh there's men enough in Galloway, alas there's none for me
For I never had a love but one and he's drowned in the sea.
savage....
i love them a lot but the lad on the left looks straight out of the year 1357
I suspect he would be secretly pleased to hear that 😄
A definite plus, in my book! Colour him Timeless!
Anyone know what bouzouki he is playing
Greek
Got to be custom made and a Irish adaptation- 8 string instead of the traditional Greek 6.
Regular Greek bouzoukis do have 4 courses (tetrachordo). What you are thinking of with 6 strings (3 courses) is actually a trichordo, just a different kind of Greek zouk.
What tuning is he playing here do ye know? 😄
