Holy shit, thanks man. My GU501GM always ran CSGO around 95C, but after it, it lowered to around 64-70C. I did everything you did without the toothbrush and denatured alcohol, and it still works great. You’re a lifesaver man.
Thank you so much for this! You have no idea how much you've helped me with this video. Thank you!
Just repasted my GU501GM using this tutorial as a reference. I had never did that before and this video was so enlightening that I actually think it has gone much easier than I thought. Thank you so much for your help! I used arctic 1.5mm thermal pads (as you recommended), Arctic Cleaner and Arctic MX-4. Temps look absolutely GREAT as far as I could test the pc.
I was trying to play Conan Exiles in my ROG GU501GM with settings at LOW and due to high temperatures (CPU at 80-90°), the game was stuttering all the time and I could not get more than 20 fps. I tried everything in terms of settings and optimization of Windows, NVIDIA control panel etc. Nothing worked. Then I cleaned the coolers using a teeth brush and the temperatures dropped to 60-70°. Now I'm running Conan Exiles with CINEMATIC settings without any stuttering while I'm waiting for the thermal paste I bought. Thanks for the video, man!
Great video! Going to take mine apart as soon as my pads and paste come in. This video should take the guesswork out for me. Thank you!
Thanks for the vid man, just did this for my GU502GW and everything was almost the same except I didn't need to remove the fan
I had to change both fans because they werent working so this helped me a lot i didnt though it would be so much of a hassle to change them x-x thank you man you are a lifesafer!
Thanks for the video, I am working on the same exact laptop. Very helpful.
Very helpful guide! I've been looking for a tutorial for repasting since I got the G531GT which do not have much tutorials and even no service manual. But this one looks to have the same chasis so I can refer to this with repasting, hopefully the inside looks the same.
Thank you for your video! I have a similar asus laptop and wanted to improve my thermals. I hope this does the trick. Great video!
"22:56" you forgot the screw of the exhaust fan before putting the heat-sink back. anyway, nice tutorial mate
Thanks for making this, I think it’s very helpful. However I would’ve liked to see CPU temps during load before and after, not idle.
Thanks! Very thorough explanation.
Thanks mate it was really helpful
Hi Billy Yount!
its a very helpful video, thabks a lot!
Awesome video thanks
Thank you! Subbed!!!
Thanks for doing this guide video! I noticed it looked like Asus just used thermal paste on the memory also, so curious if it is fine to just replace the thermal paste instead of using thermal pads?
Hey! Really good video. One question. Do I need to use thermal pads because I´ve never heard of them. Can I use normal thermal paste instead?
nice job bro :)
What's the name of the black tape that covers the fans and the heat sink? I covered mine with electrical tape but I'd rather put what's recommended
Thank u ❤️
The new ROG laptops have the same bottom cover but I noticed the vents are not covered but the new ones for some reason are covered with a plastic film with a metal plate :\, was getting 95'c while playing GTAV when I took off them covers now its 80'c, I feel like they forgot to remove them...
Really great video. You should have more subs, but you got mine!
I bought this laptop about a year ago and I'm about to clean it soon. How often should I reapply thermal paste to it?
Very nice and in-depth video!
what type of thermal pads did you use? and would it be okay to use 1.5 mm thermal pads instead?
no.
Great!
So what size thermal pads did you use for the vram so I know which ones I should order. I don't want to order to small. Maybe post a link? Would be helpful
thanks man, helped me!
Is the type of black thermal tape a cloth acetate tape? (the kind you had to rip up to separate heat sink and fans). If you're not sure, what type of tape did you get from Home Depot?
Thanks for the video. Can you please explain keyboard replacement thanks a lot
What kind of screw driver bit you use to remove heatsink bolts, mine wont turn with 00 and 000 bit ‘m afraid i’d damage them.
Hi. Tell me please, what kind of thermal interface on video memory chips and power chokes was before(factory)?
Your videos are very helpful and informative, thank you dude! Can someone explain further why not to put new pads on the cpu side of the heat sink as well?
Currently repasting mine, thanks to you! I'll report back with the results.
I used Kryonaut and Arctic Thermal Pads. This morning I'm seeing around -10 degrees in idle or just watching CZcams. Overall, much better temps across the board (especially in CPU temps). The Witcher 3 still hits up to 75 degrees on my GPU after an hour or so, but I'll take it! Thank you dude!
17:52 Can I also just use thermal paste by grizzly?
can ya link me where u bought ur screwdriver for the back screws
hey what brand blower are you using and if possible plz link one youve tried thanks in advance
@comptechnyc I desperately want to know what kind of thermal pads you used
Replacing thermal paste on my laptop gave a temperature drop of 15 degrees Celsius under load.
I know it’s an old video but what did you do with the screw that you didn’t put on the gpu fan? Lol 😆
can i use thermal paste on the gpu ram instead of pads will it cause any overheating due to any gaps that may occur
How did you dust the fans ?
7:40 so I can find it later
My Asus same model lasted 5 before having to do this hope my gpu didn't burn up from mining it stopped working right...
8:14 mine is below the heatpipe.....
What do I do if I stripped out a screw.. .
I replaced the thermal paste of my laptop, rog zephyrus gx502gw, similar to this laptop. I used thermal pads 0.5mm for the gpu modules like in this video. I used thermal paste only for the cpu and gpu. The temps went down like -15celsius. The problem i am gettin is, i get GPU usage spikes, like every 5 min GPU goes 99% usage for 20seconds, i get FPS drop in game. Should i open it again and put paste everywhere and not use pads? Or is there any tip?
Have you fix the fps drops?
Do you know if it’s possible to use liquid metal instead of thermal paste?
Wondering this too. I notice there are surface mount components on the GPU. Conformal coating *should* protect against damage to those but being a laptop I'm not sure if that's wise.
my zephyrus is idling on 55 C underload its 96 C and its only 1 year old
Sadly I could never do that! I am clumsy and I will panic! Wish I could.
I've bought a 8g thermal paste.. wonder if will it be enough can anybody help me pls
Anyone else having issuing finding a replacement charger for this laptop? Apparently stores don’t have it -_-“
Arctic Silver 5 is better or Artic mx-4?
MX-4
Can is use this PAD >>> EC360® SILVER 12W/mK (50 x 50 x 1,0 mm) ?
Okay who disliked this?
Will you do my laptop ??? Email me username at the gmail first name Steve!
