Holy shit, thanks man. My GU501GM always ran CSGO around 95C, but after it, it lowered to around 64-70C. I did everything you did without the toothbrush and denatured alcohol, and it still works great. You’re a lifesaver man.

Just repasted my GU501GM using this tutorial as a reference. I had never did that before and this video was so enlightening that I actually think it has gone much easier than I thought. Thank you so much for your help! I used arctic 1.5mm thermal pads (as you recommended), Arctic Cleaner and Arctic MX-4. Temps look absolutely GREAT as far as I could test the pc.

I was trying to play Conan Exiles in my ROG GU501GM with settings at LOW and due to high temperatures (CPU at 80-90°), the game was stuttering all the time and I could not get more than 20 fps. I tried everything in terms of settings and optimization of Windows, NVIDIA control panel etc. Nothing worked. Then I cleaned the coolers using a teeth brush and the temperatures dropped to 60-70°. Now I'm running Conan Exiles with CINEMATIC settings without any stuttering while I'm waiting for the thermal paste I bought. Thanks for the video, man!

Very helpful guide! I've been looking for a tutorial for repasting since I got the G531GT which do not have much tutorials and even no service manual. But this one looks to have the same chasis so I can refer to this with repasting, hopefully the inside looks the same.

Thanks for making this, I think it’s very helpful. However I would’ve liked to see CPU temps during load before and after, not idle.

Thanks for doing this guide video! I noticed it looked like Asus just used thermal paste on the memory also, so curious if it is fine to just replace the thermal paste instead of using thermal pads?

The new ROG laptops have the same bottom cover but I noticed the vents are not covered but the new ones for some reason are covered with a plastic film with a metal plate :\, was getting 95'c while playing GTAV when I took off them covers now its 80'c, I feel like they forgot to remove them...

Is the type of black thermal tape a cloth acetate tape? (the kind you had to rip up to separate heat sink and fans). If you're not sure, what type of tape did you get from Home Depot?

I used Kryonaut and Arctic Thermal Pads. This morning I'm seeing around -10 degrees in idle or just watching CZcams. Overall, much better temps across the board (especially in CPU temps). The Witcher 3 still hits up to 75 degrees on my GPU after an hour or so, but I'll take it! Thank you dude!

I replaced the thermal paste of my laptop, rog zephyrus gx502gw, similar to this laptop. I used thermal pads 0.5mm for the gpu modules like in this video. I used thermal paste only for the cpu and gpu. The temps went down like -15celsius. The problem i am gettin is, i get GPU usage spikes, like every 5 min GPU goes 99% usage for 20seconds, i get FPS drop in game. Should i open it again and put paste everywhere and not use pads? Or is there any tip?

Wondering this too. I notice there are surface mount components on the GPU. Conformal coating *should* protect against damage to those but being a laptop I'm not sure if that's wise.
