Did you mean to say "Beatles" as they played in Cardiff at their peak? What was the store? I visited Cardiff in 2021 and there is more still there than people will have you believe. But yeah can't beat the mid 90s for ANY uk town or city as last orders for nostalgia.
@@blackcurtains4710 Beatties was a hobby shop. Models, games, toys. I personally feel that Cardiff has lost it's soul, but that may just be the ghost of nostalgia.
@@frankbrown4780 If I'm not mistaken but was Beatties model shop on the right of the high street as you face Cardiff castle? It was deep but as about as big as a Newsagent shop? The bags were yellow plastic with red font often with a radio controlled car black on them?
@@frankbrown4780 I thought so! That was the shop I was gifted my last 16-bit Sega Mega Drive Game from for an Xmas present 1995 a bargain at £19.99. My Dad wanted model kits and other wargamming spray cans but he reserved it for me. St Marys used to have working class men's shops including X-rated vid and mag stores but its all 5 guys, vegan and fallafel crap now. At least the victorian indoor market is there and remains pretty much 95% intact along with Kelly's Records.
Amazing. Not a bus fan but 1995 was the year I moved close to Cardiff as a mid-teenager and I loved it! I recall Brewers and I guess Bus Caerdydd was the main service through Barry routes? Footage looks a lot older than 1995 so was it the camera model or use of tape? Sorry!
High Street/St Mary's Street have changed a lot since them. It was bittersweet seeing Beaties in the background.
