      Yeah he's survived too big tests. However the next part is where it gets real interesting because everyone knows exactly how he plays now.

    Ducket dows well initially cause we all know the new ball in India assists both oace and spin well. Its smart to get quick runs jn the first 20 overs. India should bowl fhe 5th stump line rather than attackjng the stumps in this phase

    • @JarrodKimberYT
      @JarrodKimberYT  Před 3 měsíci +2

      There is less swing now because Teams found a quicker way to get batters out using seam. Duckett came into one of the lowest periods ever for openers in terms of average. There's your context.

    It's no surprise the rise of Duckett's career has coincided with the rise of Engalnd's bazball approach. Both took the opposition by surprise and made the most of it. The challenge for both is the same now that the surprise factor is not there anymore. Good test teams will be better prepared as they know how Duckett and England are going to play. We saw both reverting to a much more conservative style of cricket in the last test match after they had two consecutive losses. England's current approach and Duckett's game would really be tested in further losses. It will be interesting to see how he reacts going further as it is very evident that his defence isn't half as good as his sweeps.

      I mean these guys have been tested against the best. They have even scored against India in India consistently, almost always giving their team a good start only for their middle order to shat the bed xD. The only place left would be Australia and given this time Ashes in England took place on flat pitches with considerable bounce on some pitches especially Lord's, I think it's safe to make a case for them now as longevity is the only metric they need to be tested against, and in cricket, we do talk about cricketers that impressed despite having short careers.
      Also, no offense but if Jarrod really wanted to make a video for views, then making one on India/IPL would just bring in much more views mate.

      @@Badabung-vu9wr 1 century in 4 games in India, 20s and 30s don't make you a consistent worldclass opener.
      Remember Ajantha Mendis? How he disappeared when people figured him out? Duckett's funeral would happen in Australia when Hazlewood's length ball would go above his head

    • @Badabung-vu9wr
      @Badabung-vu9wr Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@syedarsalanahmad Yeah, you are right. He is not a consistent opener, but that's the thing...he doesn't need to be. Crawley is his nemesis as a player who is all about consistently scoring in the 40s and 50s and rarely going on to make a big score. That's why these two work so well together. They almost always guarantee a good start with one player having the potential to go on to make a big score.
      Your point of teams figuring him out really just goes back to the question of longevity I made earlier. This short form success at the international level shows they belong here. From here on, it's just a case of them continuously believing in it and improving which sounds easy but quite frankly is the hardest thing to do.
      As for 1 century in 4 games in India, I mean....we are talking about India right? That is a really really good achievement for a player not to mention an opener for that matter. What's more? It was a daddy hundred and the stupid way he got out just shows that he could have gone on to a potential double.
      Also, by no means do I mean to say that he is world class. That last metric is what he needs to succeed at in order to reach that level.

    • @JarrodKimberYT
      @JarrodKimberYT  Před 3 měsíci +2

      The point isn't how many tests he's played , it's how different he has been. He could do that in one series and we cover it.

    • @TheHass84
      @TheHass84 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@syedarsalanahmad you dont undertsand what this team is trying to do, 20's and 30's at a run a ball IS consistent within this system. look how many times this team is 10 for 2 or even 25 for 2, they havent been, they get to 40-50 for none off ten overs, thats EXACTLY what they want them to do. I know its complicated and different for a traditional fan like yourself to understand but they dont want the openers to get 100 off 300 deliveries, they want to be aggressive and put the opposition opening bowlers on the back foot in the first session. he has achieved that consistently in this seris.
