Prioritizing just 5 - 10 things from this list will likely be enough to narrow your choice down to just 1 or 2 brands. It won't be necessary to rearrange, prioritize, and respond to all points. Sharing your priorities (and your budget) with others on social media for example will help a lot. It will help to minimize fanboy arguments for example 😅

I see that the Foil brand that you have is cheaper than the Flight brand and so I am considering buying it, but I'm 76 years old and so I will likely be falling while learning thus I'm concerned that your board has no propeller guard and board has a hard point in front that might hit me. Should I be worried about this?

    • @eFoilLakePowell

Very good questions. No matter what brand you choose, proper fall techniques will help mitigate injury from the hardware beneath the board (mast, wings, propulsion system). Releasing the remote/ acceleration-trigger when you begin to fall is very important part of falling correctly. The prop will not be spinning.
If you are looking for extra peace of mind for yourself and anyone who may ride your eFoil I would suggest a jet propulsion system. (FOIL is still perfecting their jet design. Hopefully it'll be available next year)
Prop guards, inherent by the name alone, give a sense of false security. eFoil prop injuries are very rare but scary to think about. There are still very large openings in prop-guards that allow appendages easy access to the spinning parts.
If an object gets inside, something has to break: the supports of the prop guard, the prop, and/or the object itself.
Guards only *reduce* prop contact at the expense of a rare and more horrific injury.
This isn't to say that a completely open prop can't cause significant injury. Jets are the only option that are truly "safer"
Jets are so shielded that the chance of an appendage getting inside is pretty much zero.
You may also consider an inflatable board or foam material board for more forgiving impacts to and from the board.
If you do buy a FOIL from GetFOIL I recommend the "Forged Deck" vs the "cyber deck" because it's more hydrodynamic in the water and it comes with handles. I recommend the 250 wing. I also recommend the extended range battery (as long as it's still the same weight as the standard range battery)
Hopefully this all helps and if you have any other questions feel free to shoot. 🤙

For more information and demonstration on the fall security of prop guards I made this video

Open propellers systems will continue to be used by groups of riders, because they have a more loose and surfy feeling with less drag. They can be more efficient, especially when paired with special propellers designed specifically for surfing waves without acceleration from the remote. Surfing waves de-powered

Thank you for letting me know that “Foil is still perfecting their jet design” and will likely be available in the future. Yes, I can see that the "Forged Deck" (for an extra $1,000) is less pointed thus safer and likely “more hydrodynamic in the water”. Also, that the 2.6 kWh extended range battery (an additional $800), although heaver, could be of value to me since I will likely have friends wanting to try it after me. Unfortunately, I was trying not to spend too much money. I do appreciate the work that you’ve put into all of your videos and I especially enjoyed watching you give your little girl a ride as she laughed and waved to her friends. Having fun toys to play with and a beautiful lake to live near are nice, but having a nice family to care for (like you do) is even better. I’m waiting for a grandchild, but my only child so far hasn’t shown much interest. Perhaps I should have had more children like you.

@steveedler8217 Thank you for your words and you're very welcome.
If possible, find a place to take a lesson/ demo. Some dealers will also have special rates on older or used boards and may have a limited warranty as well, despite the used condition.
Black Friday and end of season is coming. Last year there were several good sales from a variety of brands between November and February from multiple brands. You may find a price that is more fitting. Both of my eFoils (Waydoo and FOIL) I picked up at discounted rates at the startup of both brands.
Being able to ride whenever and wherever is the best part of owning an e-surf board. It's truly the most affordable way to enjoy water-sports on Powell when all expenses are considered (money, time, manpower labor, transportation, storage, cleaning & maintenance, etc).
Definitely never a dull day at my home. Busy busy. Lots of work and fun.
I appreciate the reminder to enjoy family time.
You'll find some individuals who enjoy the things you do to share with. Be it watersports or anything else, there's always people who want to share. I've been having a lot of fun teaching others to fly with me.
Riding solo is relaxing and fun too

Please tell us about your hat...brand name, cost, how did you acquire it, etc? Does it provide good ventilation? Is it comfortable?

Is it a Chillba made by Kavu? Again, please tell us about it's ventilation and comfort. Thanks

    • @eFoilLakePowell
      @eFoilLakePowell  Před rokem

@@brentharper8292 yes, KAVU Chillba. I think I've had it for about 4 years now. It's very lightweight. It feels like the inside is made out of a flat piece of lightweight durable foam that's been formed into a wide-based cone then wrapped with a material of choice. There is an adjustable headband with mesh material that connects to the top of the inside of the outer part of the hat to go over and around your head. A tube of mesh with an adjustable fabric headband. It's adjustable with a plastic clamp and not velcro. The mesh material breathes well.
There is a drawstring cord to fix it tight under your chin if it's windy. But as with all wide-rimmed hats, if there is moderate to high wind or you are in a boat, it may still be difficult to keep on your head as the wind will want to catch the wide brim. Strategic head positioning can help to keep the wind from catching it as with other large hats. The brim however, will be like a bobble head doll because it is attached to the top of your head and not around the circumference of your head, which is just simply the nature of the design of the hat.
It's a great unique hat; functional with lots of shade cover.
Maybe I'll do a quick close look video of the hat tonight when I return home
