Sawmill Shed Build, Start to Finish

- This was a fun project building a shed for My Woodland Mills Sawmill. All the lumber for the shed was sawn on my sawmill so all in all very little money was invested into this build. Now the mill is protected from the elements and Uncle Tweety (the tractor) has a place to rest out of the weather as well. Hope you enjoy the video. #sawmillshedbuild #starttofinish #timeless

That sure is a great looking sawmill shed. You sure are a real carpenter. The Lord Jesus has gifted you. Blessing to you in Jesus name, amen.
Howdy brother- thank you so much for watching the video and for the kind words. Take care and God’s blessings to you
not sure if my last comment went through, not sure how to send a comment on youtube. Anyhow, I'm 70 years old. Had a 0 frick sawmill pulled with a 471 detroit from age of 25 to 50. Then family farm sold. I sure missed smelling that fresh pine sawdust. Sold farm in 2007 and moved to 10 acre site. I bought a cooks mp-32 last summer to scratch my itch and keep up with fallen trees by storms. This sawmill is so much slower than my frick, but I can saw by myself and not have to worry about getting blade hammered. It is also alot safer. Thanks for your video.
Howdy Woody- yes, your comment came through and I replied. I sure love to listen to those old Detroit engines pulling a sawmill. I only know of one fellow who is in his 70’s that can hammer out a blade. He and his Daddy used to go all over the country hammering blades back when there were a lot more of the old sawmills running. I sure wish you the best with your sawmill. Take care and God’s blessings to y’all
Good work young man! It’s nice to see “workmanship” once and a while. From one carpenter to another, well done. Thank you

Howdy Cliff, I’m very blessed to be able to keep going. I may put some stuff on the Woodland Mills group but someone will have to do it for me cause I’m a bit technically challenged lol. @@TheBeardedCarpenter I’m hoping to get a sawmill and build the shed and maybe someday the log cabin. Your videos are inspiring to me also. I grew up framing and running trim. My father was a great carpenter too. He could cut to roof with out ever getting on top to lay out. He was a good carpenter with a commendable work ethic. Thank you once again for taking the time to share your experience and wisdom. All good things come from the Lord. God bless you. My friend!

Dear Paul. Can you help me determine how the worth of my great grandfather's old old tool chest. This chest use to sit in my great grandfather's backboard during the early 1900s. With all the tools in it, the chest weighs 300 or more pounds. All Stanley tools.
Thanks. Your sawmill shed looks great 👍
Howdy- it sounds like you have a wonderful family treasure to hang on to. To a collecter it would be worth a lot. I really wouldn’t know how much it is worth. I wish I could help you. Just hang on to it God bless you
Man , you guys do nice work! Looks like top of bunks are about knee cap height ? That’s where I plan to put mine at. Thanks.
Howdy Terry- thank you so much for the kind words. My rails are about 15” off the concrete. Works great for me. Wishing you the very best with your build. Take care and God bless
Hello, great job. Will build my sawmill shed next year for my cooks mp-32. Is the black on the bottom of your cedar post creosote, oil or (shou sugi ban process), which is where they burn wood to prevent rot. Thanks, Woody
Howdy Woody- thank you so much lord bless watching the video. Much appreciated. I did the shou sugi ban on the bottom of the posts up about 4 1/2’. I put several inches of gravel in the bottom of the holes and tamped it really well. I don’t use concrete around a post, I tamp gravel around the post so moisture can get away. I’ve seen post rot when concrete is used. If the post shrinks a bit water runs in and has no place to go. I sure wish you the very best with your sawmill shed build. Take care and God bless
07:34 Question for you. This is the first of your videos I have wached. Why did you square up the log before putting it on the mill??? 💜💜
Howdy Sue- it wasn’t explained in the video because of time, I did tell why in a previous video of the sawmill shed build, the whole log was way too much for my old tractor to lift so I trimmed off when I wouldn’t be using before loading it on the mill. You’re very observant. Take care and God’s blessings to you
отцы молодцы
Howdy Phil- thank you so much for the kind words and for watching the video. God bless you
how did you treat the ends of the timbers in the ground? singed and oiled? are they on a poured footing or just compacted native soil? nice looking structure
Howdy Hayden- l did the shou sugi ban up the posts about 4 1/2 feet. I tamped several inches of gravel in the bottom of the holes and tamped gravel around the posts so water won’t stay around the post. Thank you so much for watching the video and for the kind words. God bless you
Great video as usual. What's the going rate these days to have a tree milled? It's been about 10 or 15 years since I had any trees milled, back then it was 25 cents BF at the circular saw mill and 30 at the band saw mill. I'm in Pa.
Thank you.
Howdy y’all- I only saw for myself but it will vary from place to place. From what I understand some people are getting.75 a foot on a bandsaw mill. I wouldn’t know what it would be up in Pa. God bless
@@TheBeardedCarpenter Thank you.
That pretty nice mill shed :) How long are you set up to cut ? set up looks pretty long "
Howdy Don- I can cut 24’-26’ pretty easy but my old tractor might not be able to pick something like that up. The opening is 20’ but I can wiggle longer logs in that fairly easy. I think the longest I’ve cut so far is 22’ for the big opening in front. God bless
@@TheBeardedCarpenter That's awesome ! If you can keep it level for the long ones, I can only do 16' & i don't do many of those, Mostly 8'-10' just for my projects, A few 16's for skids, Very happy with the mill & what it saved me :)
Dude can use a chain saw
Howdy Kenneth- thank you so much. I’ve been running a chainsaw a few years. God bless you
