I love that he Allowed you to do this. I live in Australia and I would never of been able to see this. He's a wonderful artist, its magic and thought provoking. Thank you Scott. From this pandemic brings us all together 🤝🎂🍰
This was SUCH a treat. I've loved Scott's work for years, I think I first saw a pair of his iced shoes in vogue a looong time ago, and I've been fascinated ever since. I remember you did a shoot in one of his other installations and I remember being SO jealous! It totally fascinates me how he uses this sweet, sugar-y medium to portray so many different feelings and ideas. The portals are so cool! The way he uses mirrors, trick angles and lighting is amazing, and I bet it's wayyy cooler in person, too. I'm super high risk, so I'll be staying indoors until 2021, so things like this really help keep me going, thank you so much Kelly, and Stefan for shooting (I spotted him in a portal, haha!) and big thanks to Scott for sharing it with us!
Kelly there is an audio problem around 7:55 minutes in where the music is super loud for a second and covers you up that you might want to look at. Should be an easy fix, just thought I'd point it out.
This was a very great experience. Just watching you walk around and hear your thoughts on each piece is beautiful. I want to go see cake land for myself now. It's great that you support art. I love art. Scott has inspired me as an artist to think about my agenda and try something new.
Thank you and Scott for letting us see this amazing work. As I live in the UK, I'd never have been able to experience this otherwise. 'Attention sickness' just sounds like ambiversion. I describe myself as an ambivert. Love hanging out with my friends but then I need my own space and to be on my own in the quiet.
This place is truly beautiful! Thank you for doing stuff like this, honestly I don’t know if I would have even known about it without your video and it’s definitely something that should be seen!
This video and your narrative was so inspiring. I had to pause and write two poems about the beauty of art. One day I will definitely visit this place💖
Such a cool art installation!! And a really cool video! It’s very different than anything I’ve seen from your channel and I REALLY enjoyed it! Your commentary was very authentic and it kept me interested. I would love to see more videos like this of you interviewing artists that you are interestred in!! Good job, Kelly!! 💖
this is so amazing, I'm so glad he allowed you to make this video as I live in NY state and would not be able to see it. I esp love when his dog shows up lol. love hearing about his concepts too
This was such a treat! Thank you for posting this. everything about this is powerful, from the art itself, to the words you both shared. This was just such fresh and different content. I think we could all benefit from a journey through cakeland and it’s portals 💜
I love what you said in the beginning of the video about how the time we're living in effects how we experience art and how we think about it. My creative process has always been synonymous to how I feel and the work I'm producing is definitely reflective of the emotions I want to bring myself closer to during this time. I love the way you talk about art! Whether it's your process or how you view work! I feel like I always reach a deeper understanding or a closer connection, that never felt as present while I was in school. It's affirming, and makes me feel like I can go off of what I feel more, over what I was taught and is assumed to be "correct". Cakeland is so gorgeous! I'm so glad you were able to view it and share your experience with us! The lighting, the intricacies, the illusion of depth, it's so visually appetizing! Wow! I love that I feel different energies from it and experience emotional shifts from too. Also come thruuuuu new office! Shout out to the plants! I see you Sesshomaru! lol Thank you for sharing this with us Goddess!!!
Please tell me im not the only one that had this intense desire to stick my finger in the frosting/plaster and eat it its looks so real it made me hungry?!?
I never understand artists who try to discredit other artful experiences to validate their own. Museum of Ice-cream can absolutely be art. It creates digital art and I believe thats open to interpretation. Anything can be art. Letting people choose to engage with what they find to be art is the only respectable navigation. There isn't a singular art experience. I understand this is Scott's perspective but I find it to be pretty close minded. Political art makes you think. The intention is using art to grab you but give you a message in a format thats easy to understand. People can make up their own minds from that point. Scott you speak of that as if it's brainwashing and people don't have autonomy over their thoughts. Just some thoughts.
I'm so inspired by his work! His art is amazing and this exhibit is beautiful and so innovative. My only issue is the fact that he didn't wear a mask when showing you around. :(
i love art and i love details big and small. he has created a place of almost unlimited details. I also love art that helps you to feel or find and lose yourself, happy and sadness as a full experience. thank you for showing it to us. I really hope we all get a chance to see it in person.
I wish this was a series, it is so nice to be able to see the world that the artist created through his eyes and think about what I see at the same time. I really appreciate being able to learn about the process and little details that I would not have noticed otherwise. Super cool video Kelly!
Woooooow! This installation looks beautiful and incredible! Thank you for doing this, Kelly, having his personal narration along with yours during the tour was amazing. It felt so personal, and being from the uk, I doubt I will ever be able to experience this in person 😍😙💙🍰
Wow! What a surprise! I was fortunate enough to attend the exhibit High Fructose The First 10 Years, a few years ago. Some of Scott's work was there along with a ton of other favorite artist's work that I thought I would never see in person. Scott's peices were like nothing I'd ever experienced. I'm so glad I bought the exhibit book so I can experience them again.
I totally agree! I feel any time I give my all in anything I feel depleted too. I think I've figured out my soical phobia. I want it but I know the pros and cons of what I get out of it! I think thats what causes my fear. Plus having a vivid imagination doesn't always help.
The juxtaposition of sugar and darkness and the magnetism of mystery that holds them together is so intense and amazing, I wish I could see it in person! Alas, the ocean. Sigh. I enjoyed your commentary, particularly the description of the black entrance, and also how you narrated your emotional/thought process going through the installation. I don't really stop to observe my own experience of exhibitions while I get lost in the exhibition itself; it was nice to gain a little insight of this kind second-hand. The attention sickness bit at the end is definitely relatable - I personally never wanted attention as a person, I just had a primal drive to make it, which is how I slipped into art school. But then the weird centering on my person damaged my ability to access the process. I don't know if there really are people who do it to become a sparkly beacon themselves, if there is, it definitely ain't me. I'm at a weird point in life where I wonder what my role in art-making is and whether I want to escape or occupy the exhibition realm. The lockdown/pandemic is pushing all these existential "what the hell am I doing here" questions to the top, I feel like. Thank you for this visual gateway into an art experience beyond the meta-level brooding around it. 🖤
I refer to attention sickness as being emotionally exhausted even if someone has had a relatively positive experience. Introverts like myself recharge themselves through solitary activities and self isolation. While extroverts like my crazy sister recharge their batteries by going out to a night club for example and socializing even more! I would only be able to join my sister at a club after a period of alone time to recharge. That is just how us introverts roll! 💞 👍😁
I REALLY do love how you made Dre's & other roommate's bedroom into a gorgeous studio where you can create and not feel so "hot" while filming/painting/etc. Also, Cakeland.
Wow, really incredible efforts, everything is so luxurious in its craftsmanship. It was interesting to hear this thoughts throughout as well- thanks for sharing!
It makes ME uncomfortable that I’m not wearing a mask. I had tested negative a few days prior and was not open to the public at that point, but the optics are still not good
It is actually called the Pure Light room, which represents illumination after a period of darkness. I was decorating that room right after the George Floyd murder and I frosted a BLM at the top of the detailing so folks would know what side I’m on. I hope this helps explain.
I love that he Allowed you to do this. I live in Australia and I would never of been able to see this. He's a wonderful artist, its magic and thought provoking. Thank you Scott. From this pandemic brings us all together 🤝🎂🍰
This place is like entering a witch labyrinth from madoka, there’s so much meaning in it
Would this labyrinth belong to Charlotte the Dessert Witch then? 🍰

Where’d all her videos go?? I missed her drop off the face of the earth
I know I just remembered her channel and wanted to check up on it. 🥲
Same! What's happened? Probably explained on twitter or something but i don't use it!
I love immersive spaces, and the fact that there is a story to the experience of visiting makes it all the more meaningful

It scared the shit out of me! Lol!
Oh thank fuck, I had this playing on tv and I thought something went wrong 💀
I thought this place had edible cake lol
Beautiful 💗. I wish I lived near enough to see it in person.
This is amazing thank for using your platform to help out this artist during this hard time x I wish I could see it in person (I'm in the UK) x

I'm kind of confused as to how that BLM room actually relates to BLM? I didn't see any clear links between what I saw in that room and the movement.
It is actually called the Pure Light room, which represents illumination after a period of darkness. I was decorating that room right after the George Floyd murder and I frosted a BLM at the top of the detailing so folks would know what side I’m on. I hope this helps explain.
