Saying this interpretation is too fast because it's a lullaby and the child wouldn't sleep is like saying a Bach Gigue's interpretation is not good because it's completely rhythmically steady and one couldn't dance on it. Ferras is to die for by the way.
The top joint of the fingers in the left hand is like liquid. Really impressive! This is one of the best vibratos I have heard. He gets a very tender sound that suits this piece well. One wants to cry!
Have you ever listened to Maestro Ferras playing Beethoven violin concerto in D?amazing, evocative, unique.Rest in Peace Maestro, and thank you for all the great music you left
Thanks so much for uploading. Ferras was a master of great expressiveness with amazing control. By turns quiet and reserved, or, as in the (must hear) finale of the Sibelius VC, frenzied and passionate. He had it all musically, but lost the battle with his depressive demons to suicide aged 49 in 1982. It's a blessing his greatness is available to us today.
My great grand-mother's mother happened to be close friends with Gabriel Fauré. How crazy?😂 I have been playing the violin for 10 years now, and I've never been excellent at it but remiding me of this anecdote really encourages me to keep practicing and letting my heart being moved by pieces like this one. Beautiful interpretation.
marvalous :I wow awesome! the vibrato is great, and i like how every tone is so clear, and he really expresses the feelings of this song great! wow....just : wow ( i'm playing this as well, this really inspired me!) oh and the ossio at the end kicks ass ^^
Infatuated sure, with the playing of Ferras! I am not the only one who commemmorated the 30th anniversary of his death btw, Deutsche Grammophon did also! Sorry to have annoyed you, have a nice evening!
going to have to disagree with you here. if you play the piece too slow you are going to lose the musical line. that is the problem with much of todays playing its too slow and too sentimental. I could fall asleep in many Brahms concerto performances waiting for the music to unfold.
1:38 this change on the f-sharp between two strings is just art
I’m in love with the old school portamento style of shifting. Very slow, schmaltzy shifts a la Heifetz, Kreisler, etc

There are no words to express the beauty of this interpretation...
Today is the 30th anniversary of Ferras' tragic death. I am feeling grateful for his wonderful musicality! Rest in peace maestro.

Wow yes its crazy. I'm learning this piece for piano but my cousin plays the clarinet instead of the violin.
he has the highest shulder and arm position of all world famus violinists.
I noticed that too, Very high with the bow arm!
Merci Christian FERRAS
What a beautiful, shimmering tone
this is poetry...
Grande violinista.
Really excellent performance of this piece. The melodies here bring about thoughts of strolling in the simple French countryside. Very peaceful.
Oh! Those harmonics at the end! Bravo!
truly one of the most beautiful pieces.... really relaxing.....
Une merveille ❤❤❤❤
Fantastico. Che bel suono!
art; takes me to another place just from listening to it.
So beautiful
Wonderful composition and performance!
The violin is treated so tenderly in Ferras’ control. Touching, and tragic. That violin probably misses its master
Vibrato on a harmonic, super skillful.
Beautiful.

Perfect!
Bellissimo! Ninna nanna
Increíble
sublime
rapide.... mais quelle elegance.. je l aime
❤
do you have the video where he played the 2nd mvt of the tchaikovsky violin concerto??
its a berceuse but it seems more like a lullaby for a couple, for love, not children necessarily.
Infatuated sure, with the playing of Ferras! I am not the only one who commemmorated the 30th anniversary of his death btw, Deutsche Grammophon did also! Sorry to have annoyed you, have a nice evening!
Yes,it's a berceuse but we Are not little children to' get asleep

does anybody know where cristian ferras was?
Does anyone know the year of this recording? Thanks in advance!
1973.
And nowadays we have Hillary Hahn and Joshua Bell. It hurts.
Hillary Hanh is incubo
pianist?
Never trust a Faure Berceuse that's under 4m 52sec. It's a lullaby, for goodness' sake. What's he trying to to - counteract the camomile?

He has a beautiful sound, but he definately rushes the piece. Too bad.
