The interwebz is truly wild! I can't imagine having so much sass, well that's not true, I'm plenty sassy. But I really don't have the energy to judge everyone on the web haha! Thanks for sharing what works for you and yours!
I enjoy your sass! XOXO
Great advice! We use our 4th bedroom closet as an emergency pantry. We have bottled water, canned tuna, canned chicken, rice, soups, etc.
Love it! Thank you for sharing its always encouraging when others share what they have on hand!
Thank you for making this. People should keep their criticisms inside their heads, unspoken - and be appreciative.
Nice video 😊 you look amazing! Congratulations on your pregnancy. I don't have a lot of room for food storage but, I think it is a good idea to have some back up stuff.
💜Definitely great ideas--especially to start out small and build from there. It's just me at my home, so I try to shop my own pantry when making my shopping list. Then, when I have a few extra dollars I add a couple extra cans of something shelf-stable or rice/pasta, etc.--whatever I seem to be lowest on at the moment. 💲If you can take advantage of a sale at the same time...even better! Buying ahead this way has really helped out in months where something happened, and I got behind; it lets you break even or closer to even, for sure! There is freedom and peace of mind in a little self-reliance and planning ahead, and it's nice to know I won't have to depend on someone else, which removes a lot of fear. 🙏💜
My husband just went to dollar tree with me last weekend and was very impressed with the food items . Like I told him , if you know your regular grocery prices , then you know what to get there for a better price. 😊
Some of the items are still great deals!!!
As a fellow vegetarian I store and eat tasty bite style meal packets. They don't need water or to be cooked. Thanks for these videos!
Great ideas! I don’t stock dry beans for my emergency storage, just because they take so much water and fuel to cook if you have limited water and fuel. When we have hurricanes for instance, you can’t use your water so it is only what you bought.
The pasta I can buy at my local Walmart for .88 cents and the sauce for $1.18.. so it pays to shop around and compare prices..
Prices vary everywhere- which is why I suggested people do what’s best for them if you listen to why I shopped at dollar tree there was a reason ❤️
@@flourishingmiranda yes I did.. I was not criticizing your choices.. Just making a comment as to prices around me and actually like the items you bought.. They’re items I would buy if I could find them at my dollar tree.
Thank you! Great starter food "insurance" for anyone.
I'm from northwest ontario... cold MN. :) I feel you
we get those rice and beans every week and have them in our emergency pantry too
The best price on rice I’ve found in years!
Good info! I’m glad it’s vegetarian friendly, too! 😊
I totally agree with you Miranda! Hoarding not allowed! LOL!
❤️❤️❤️ I think for many a small budget is more realistic
Just a reminder that the brown rice won't last as long as the white because of the natural oils. It can get rancid if stored too long. Great tips, though! Everyone needs to stock what works for them. Emergencies can happen to anyone.
True. I store brown rice in the freezer but most of my long term storage rice is white since it keeps almost forever.
Great job!
Thanks!
Just an easy idea. No judging or criticizing.
A vegan/vegetarian meal good cold (warm is fine also) for 4 adults is:
1 can corn
1 can black beans
1 can diced tomatoes (plain, Italian style, Mexican style)
1 package pre cooked rice or noodle
Drain the 3 cans, I recommend saving the liquid from the tomatoes and corn for flavored drinking water later.
Mix all ingredients together and serve.
To store without traditional refrigeration, use 2 unpainted Terra cotta flower pots both with drainage holes closed, one several sizes smaller than the other. One bag sand, 5-10. Water. Put a few inches of sand in larger pot. Place smaller pot in larger pot. Fill the area between the 2 pots with sand, pour water into the sand til all sand is dampened. Put food in smaller empty pot. Place small flower pot drainage bottom over the smaller pot and larger drainage pot bottom over larger pot. Keep in shade. The principle of Condensation will keep your food chill.
I will be honest I would never prepare or eat that. I'm sure it works for many and is a solid idea but I have no interest in eating out of a planter
I found a recipe for cowboy beans on UTUBE. To make it vegan just leave out the meat. It has 4 different beans in it and very yummy. I added extra onion and bell pepper to mine plus more tomatoes. Old fashioned cooking from the 1800s or great depression cooking can give people ideas. Most of these items will come canned now for long term food storage. And canned goods are still reasonable priced.
A lot of good canned goods can be found at dollar general or a dollar tree. Or if their is an Aldi near you. It's worth saving up and driving to another county to shop at better stocked stores.
People tell all the time they will shop ONCE A MONTH 2 hours away from home. It saves money including gas and taking a whole day. ( take your coolers when doing this) like in a state that doesn't charge sales tax on food. Or state that has same food same store at savings of more than $50 when buying the exact same thing.
Thanks
brilliant!
I already have an emergency pantry but its small , hoping thats a way we can stock it better . Maybe i might build a food cellar.
Sounds.like the desert.south west or NM which is where I am
Salt is a requirement for the body.
