- Guapo's recovery from injury has been fraught with ups and downs, but just when things seem to be turning for the worst, a dramatic bounce back happens. That pretty much sums up todays episode on our most love Cuban rock iguana!

This is more then a big bummer, Kenan. Anyone who's been watching your CZcams for even a week knows how much you love Guapo. Here's to a speedy recovery, he'll get there, give him time.
We had Twitch for over 14yrs. I do not know how old he was when we got him. He was such a good boy and I miss him to this day. He used to sleep on me. He had quite the character, but was one of the family and was good with people. I hope Guapo makes a full recovery.

I know this may sound strange Kenan but the way in which he responds to your voice, I would say let him lay on you and give him lots of love and cuddles too. I know that yes medication is so important to help him heal but giving him love will give him reassurance to keep fighting thru his recovery too. It’s always great to see your sister being there with you all too 🤗 sending every ounce of love and healing positive wishes to you, Guapo and Petro 🤗🤗being in pain will dehydraterate him especially if he’s doing the right thing but thing staying warm enough for the medications to work. I’m sure if you offered him some mashed up banana I doubt he would refuse it 😄 as maybe the dried food is too sore on his jaw 😉🤞🏻
The release of endorphins in the brain when being nursed or groomed will help Guapo recover greatly.. he's in a lot of pain right now, with the stress of fighting Petro and the added stress of getting "help from the vet care." It will take some time for him to heal.
I am not necessarily a religious man but I bet those prayers helped, just like the affectionate care you suggest, will help.
The warmth of a caring soul is within our Auric/ Taurus field thingy and healing can be shared. Is this why hugs/ cuddles feel so good?
Offering mashed bananas or other moisture-rich foods will be two-fold. It will be easier for him to eat (less sore on his jaw) and help keep him hydrated. Even using something like the repti-chow/croc-chow soaked in water would be something to try. It’s a trick cat owners have used to make sure cats are getting enough water in their diet (soaking dry kibble in water).

We are all with you, Kenan. A sick or injured child is the worst pain on Earth... and that is how it feels for us too. Dr. Mike is such a blessing. And Seeing Guapo move and look out the window .... that was such a tear-jerking JOY !

Really glad things are going well with your cold-blooded hound. Those wounds probably wouldve meant his death within a few days in the wild. The fact that he trusts you so much to allow all the poking and proding and cleaning is remarkable and heartwarming. Respect to you for the care you show your creatures

Guapo scared me! Im glad he is perking up. Try watering down those pellets so they are softer for him. Love you guys ❤
I had to water pellets for my recovering beardie & the flavour smell is stronger & he wanted to suck them in. Excellent idea.
I wish all youtubers were this confident and well composed when it came to the care of their sick/injured animals
I know I am my iguana injured her back leg jumping from tree to tree and I took her to the vet right away they had to drain fluids and do surgery cause she fractured her leg and I was calm as Kenan here I'm also a youtuber. You are right I've seen others act like fools and so dramatic about their animals injury which upsets the animal more.

Hi Kenan. To me, guapo appeared to be dehydrated. The best thing that helped was the fluids. I’ve come to love guapo. Good luck and God bless.👍🙏🏻

IV fluids do help. But also if he's in an area where Guapo can hear water running like "irrigation" system to cause him to automatically get some water..

I know these things are hard to show, but I can't tell you how much it helps those who have struggles also. When people only show the perfect, the rest of feel like failures, like we can't do this right. We are currently struggling with a non healing wound on an elongated. Poor Guapo. Prayers and positive thoughts that he makes a full recovery. He needs a new "kings" enclosure to celebrate his recovery and single living status.
Funny fact: My mom’s iguana had an outdoor enclosure and an indoor one. When he was in the indoor enclosure (that was in their sitting room) he would watch TV with my parents at the door of his enclosure. Really cute amd sometimes funny when he would Bob his head at the TV.

@@bkm2797 It was Petro... Somehow Petro found his way into Guapo + Lola's enclosure. Guapo and Petro proceeded to fight with both being unable to get away from each other resulting in deep lacerations to both lizards. Guapo got the worst of it though.

That's really sad, but I'm relieved it wasn't his girl Lola, thinking they had some issues in the past. Guapo is such a good boy, I hope he recovers soon. Thanks for letting me know what happened.👍🦎

Im sorry honey, him, lola, and you are what got me to research them. I've been reading and learning and collecting supplies. I'm almost to building my enclosure ❤ I think I know what I'll name him now. I am so sorry. Two years ago i had my bf sit in bed with me and watch the videos you've done on these two and thats when I started learning and preparing for getting my own. This situation has been heartbreaking 💔

Our dog just had to have part of her intestines removed 2 weeks ago. The waiting and wondering when they'll eat part is the worst part of recovery. But scars or not Guapo is still a very handsome man and I'm so glad he seems to be doing better!

Poor Guapo, please keep is updated. I'm very concerned about him. 20y he's NOT a pet, I get it he's family. I'm a 47y 6ft 5in 320lbs guy & this has tears streaming down my face. He's just such a beautiful animal & he has a very defined personality. I can't even imagine how hard this has been on you.😢

@KampKenan 1st, thank you for taking the time to respond. Please do keep me or your channel updated on his recovery. I am a huge animal lover (I am of the belief animals are infinitely better than people) & it honestly broke 💔 when I saw the other video when you took him to Dr. Mike (who is beyond awesome, BTW! ). I honestly have never seen an animal with a complex personality like Guapo. Besides being a beautiful animal, he is very intelligent & you can tell he not only trusts but loves you unconditionally based upon how he responds to you. If I may offer a suggestion, Guapo merch would be very cool. Besides a shirt, I would get a plushy Guapo, too!
Finally got power back (I’m in Houston, darn ole hurricane did us a dirty!) so fill me in. Last I saw, K-man found poor Guapo all beat up and assumed Petro did him a dirty. Is that what happened for sure?

Guapo: You’re doing so well. Keep hanging in there, ok!! Kenan…His jaw looks bruised and he probably has a bone bruise. Also, the inside of his mouth may hurt too which is why he’s not extending his tongue all the way. It’ll take a couple of weeks before that bruising gets to a point where it’s comfortable to eat. Love you Guapo!!🦎❤️

Glad he's doing better. I went to put my retic down and tried 1 last treatment, it was baytril and Ceftazadine and he is doing the best he's been!! Baytril is pretty rough on them and skin. But that combination works well!! Guapo will be fine!!! ❤️

First part of video he was laying and slightly opening his mouth. He seemed thirsty. Mine will kind of lick the air so a gently sprits water by the front mouth and they lap the water up.
Him trying to scratch himself means he's healing. That's a great sign.
