David, thanks for posting this. I have a problem removing the same valve. I removed the part that conceals the screw and removed the screw what an Allen key. You seem to be able to slide the handle off with ease but I can't. If I pull, it seems to be pulling the whole thing from the wall. I wrapped the handle in a towel and tapped with a mallet on the handle to get it loose, with no success. Any suggestion?

Hi Charles - have the same issue. Did you have any luck getting the handle off?

I also had a very hard time getting the handle off. I used two stainless steel scrapers (like you might use to clean or scrape a solid grill cooktop). You can get these at a hardware or cooking store. I covered the surfaces of the scrapers with a few layers of masking tape, to avoid scratching the chrome handle. I inserted the scrapers opposite each other, in the small space between the handle and the rest of the mechanism. With someone holding the rest of the mechanism in place, I gently wiggled the scrapers back and forth, back and forth, thereby prying off the handle. That worked. I then saw the debris/grime/gunk underneath, which was making the handle difficult to remove.
Be careful and patient when prying it off, and you should be fine.
And kudos to David for a great video, which gave me the confidence to do it myself.
