  • Well we soon discovered another snag! When placed the right way up, there are no TX bargraph lights. It'll be a knackered preset despite what MR Chippie was saying...that's because he don't know the fairy lights were working on RX.
As usual, Mr Chippie drives around our 6-mile 'difficult terrain for radio' test route. He stopped at the 5-mile point to conduct a static test on low power. On this radio low power is internally adjustable & I set it to the propr 400mW level. Full power is a full 4W on this set. RX was under 0.5uV.
This version is slightly better on receive in general than the 'D' version.
The radio worked really well throughout the test.
Note that these Portapak sets dont have an internal speaker so have to be used either with the correct factory supplied speaker/mic or if used with a standard replecement microphone like I'm doing here, the radio needs to be connected to an extension speaker through the 3.5mm mono jack socket provided on the radio.
Our continued thanks to Thunderpole for kindly supplying the T3000 radio we use in the test vehicle at no cost to us. This is the sole reason for the 'paid promotion' flag on this video.

Really nice TX'd audio from the little Midland - clear at all times. Iffy fairy lights aside what a great little set.

Excellent Scratchy corner test at all the key points, and at the end I thought it was a sparrow and a mouse on the table today but someone Identified the bird as a chaffinch in the comments.

Ancaster services station must be one of the most free advertised petrol stations in the country, unfortunately it's always shut 😂.

@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 You have had to types of Robin visiting your beard table. One has a deeper orange chest, which is a migrating bird from Europe and the paler chested is a residential non migrating bird or a juvenile bird in it's first year of life.
