Essence Scarab of Adaptation does add essence itself to already imprisoned monsters on the map. More than that, it could randomly add one of the corrupted tier essences (Hysteria, Delirium, Horror or Insanity) without corrupting the monolith.
Consider checking prices of corrupted essences before mindlessly running Crystal Resonance tree - as of right now getting one corrupted essence is comparable to 10+ deafening (good ones), so maybe its worth giving up Crystal Resonance or at least try to fit Adaptation scarab into your setup for random procs:)
Very interesting! Essence farmers I talked to this week were very negative on Adaptation, I didn't know that it could add corrupted essences to the other essences, definitely makes for a very compelling option! I'll add a pinned comment with the correction, thank you.
It's definitely a dynamic calculation though, would have to really run the numbers on losing other scarab versus Adaptation and Stability. Looking at the average price right now (at least just ninja prices) you're looking at about 2.5c average price for Deafening and 23c for a MEDS essence so...it's pretty close. I could see the corrupted essences being much easier to sell though!
@@subtractem Can you comment on whether twin boss affix on a map work with crystal resonance? That is, if a map has twinned boss, do you also double the amount of essence that drops from a single boss or do the essences that a single boss will gain due to resonance split among the twin bosses and thus the total amount of essence will not change due to twin boss affix?
@@zhengbqyes the essences get split in half thus easier bosses but same amount of essences
Adaptation scarabs is the way to go if you're target farming T8 essences. This was my strat before and it gives more div per hour with less investment. This requires a very fast char though. What I did was not procing the essences yet until i found MEDS then try to corrupt it hoping it gets upgraded to T8. IF it gives a T8, i run around the map checking if any T8 gets transferred to another essence, then kill it first. Killing it also procs adaptaion, having a chance to transfer the transferred T8 essence to another essence then so on and so forth. if lucky, ill be able to transfer t8 essence to all esences in the map. If it doesnt transfer the T8 essence, then look for another MEDS to corrupt, then do the same rotation. Basically, we corrupt first, then check if T8 gets transferred, if not, corrupt a new one. I feels like crop rotation but for essence.
@@subtractem I almost skipped Adaptation entirely myself, but noticed uncorrupted monolith with Insanity essence and realized its a bit different from Crystal Resonance adding essences (which by the way should be able to take t8 and add it to the boss in theory, even though chances are not very high).
It is at least a good option to consider, even if its not always the most optimal:)
Also if your build is too weak to handle the essence-buffed map bosses w/ crystal resonance, you can run volcano. The boss is a pure summoner and doesn't pose any threat even with tons of essences on it
Great video! I did essences and theyre mega fun. One pro tip I learned: if you do maps that have multiple bosses, the essences are spread between them which can make them easier :)
As someone already mentioned, you can run volcano, he is summoner so he is easy. But what you can also do, especially on map like dunes or any without "arena" area (so you can easly leave), is run to the boss, get him to low hp, then open all essences, run back and cull him.
I have enjoyed Glacier with this strat too. he's pretty easy to dodge too
And on a map with an arena, can't you just go get the boss low and then log out to get back to the map through another portal?
@@PizzastealingninjaSure you can, but that's exactly what I meant when I said that you want a map that you can easily leave. Meaning with maps without arena you don't need to log out.
For me it doesn't matter what map I'm running for essences as long it's easy straightforward layout, as I'm prioritizing essences, not mob density.

@Pizzastealingninja lately I play ssf myself. tbh its much harder to gather exact scarabs you want than exact maps, so I don't see that as much of an issue 😅
14:14 psa for people looking to run this at league start next league: calcification scarabs are going to be extremely expensive so you’ll need to do the math to see if it’s worth it. They were over 100c each for a while in the first week this league. It’s a very rare scarab and there won’t be t17 farmers printing hundreds of them until much later (week 2+).
Great video. Thank you--i realized i have been doing my essence farming wrong. I do have to say that this is something I do not like about this league--you really have to go all-in on one strategy to be highly profitable. i liked being able to alc-and-go with 2-3 strategies and be profitable, but that is no longer the case.
Great idea on using the mirrored rare monster scarab. I love farming essence however I wish GGG would raise the essence stack size from 9 to 10 since I don't bulk sell my whole lot on a 3rd party website.

3:30 keep in mind if u are new to the game > dont use remnant of corruption if you have allocated the atlas node "crystal resonance" they changed it this league and it will no longer upgrade the essence tier but will change very essence into one of the types on the monster, so its usually really bad to do this unless u are aiming for a certain essence only, you can ofc not spec into that node and use the remnants

This league you can use "Eternal Torment" passive node (Haunted Pack Leaders in your Maps have 50% increased chance to be Rare)
I have been enjoying this with Rogues/harbringers as well. i didnt like crystal res at first cause i needed Horror for my Helmet but i think i will notch that back on for the volume

I love Essences, altho' i liked the passive tree of Affli when there was double monsters by default.
I thought it was pretty funny early league the essence scarab of calcification actually worked on vaal merchants in alva incursions. Even though that was a bug, I think that could be something cool they could implement later with a bit more depth.
Another thing...are crystals affected by quant? ( raw quant or increased effect of map mods, which boosts quant indirectly ) I assume that the pack size from increased effect of mods increases the nr. of monsters imprisoned, so at least this would be one thing that could give me more essences.

It spawns extra essences, yes, but decreases the chance that the map boss gets the guaranteed deafening

What would you say is the easiest build to push into endgame in ssf atm? is there any guaranteed crafts left anymore that would give you enough damage for ubers?
Easiest Ubers in ssf is still DD elementalist. There's a guide on maxroll.
I would be all about this if it weren't for the changes to veiled orb/veiled chaos. I honestly don't know how to craft items I used to be able to. Use to be roll a fractured item with essences til you get good suffixes, then suffixes can't be changed, then veiled chaos, block mana, then unveil. With veiled orbs being 8+ divines now I no longer know how to craft these mid budget items. Do you just reroll ABC with harvest and hope for the best? Seems really bad to me. Just another move to make crafting less approachable for casuals like me...
Veiled orbs actually make the crafting a little bit easier since they no longer remove a random mod, but yeah the cost makes them hard to justify on anything aside from endgame BiS crafting.

Seeing how difficult this essence monster was I would be really interested in how strong rare mobs / normal maps bosses can become.
Would be fun to see how to "craft" the most difficult monsters in poe in maps and which builds can kill them
Delve is the way to go when it comes to finding the most difficult monsters if that’s what you mean, unless you’re talking about maps specifically.
Does adding Einhar to your maps increase the amount of essences that you get since the beasts are imprisoned in essences?
Einhar + Calcification = all beasts are imprisoned. It adds a ton more essences and makes them pretty tough.
Also you can roll your map with alts to get the mod 'increased rare monsters'. Rare map isnt that important in farming essences.
Does higher tier maps (above tier 6) do anything for essences? Or is it best just to run t6 maps
In general you’ll get more useful loot from t16. You’ll find literally nothing of value in t6. T16 will have some random valuable drops but if it slows you down at all stay in lower tier.

If you have the scarab tab its way easier to upgrade with the upgrade button at the button rather then selling
i tried crystal resonance for a while and it almost not even payed for the scarab....i bought like 12 divines worth of them and bulk sold my essences for 20ish dvines at 95% in the end..and that was like 40-50 maps i believe. i much prefer just farming MEDs with remnants way way more profitable
There is no scarab for Crystal Resonance. I think you mean the Calcification scarab. Even if you're farming MEDS you'd still use Calcification with Mirrored Rares scarab for a lot more essences.
Crystal Resonance, I found, would give you much more value on average than not using it and going for MEDS. The average Deafening Essence is about 2.5c right now and I get about 12-15 per map boss on average.
The average MEDS price right now is 23c and I was only getting about 0.5 per map.
Calcification is is only 16-18c right now, even in bulk, which is less than half of what you'll get from just the map boss alone using Crystal Resonance.

Can I play essences with expedition on a dot build? Im trying to pair expe with something else ( so far I have breach and had harvest ), but im not sure if I can handle those gigajuiced essence mobs on 2 mil dps ( pretty much leaguestart ). It's not about their damage, because I can tank, it's about my damage ( cuz I've seen builds that one shot and take the loot ).
Also what's weird to me is that deafening of loathing is like 4c a piece...this looks super bad imo, unless that price is only for this league.
And most essences are garbage, how do I even get to sell let's say 200 pieces of a garbage deafening? Do I undercut myself just to sell em? It feels terrible already with random essences that drop from logbooks, I don't even bother picking them up unless they are usable/popular.
You can harvest craft them into a random different essence type. Could cut into your profits if you get unlucky, depending on the cost of juice.

You can run this on Volcano and the boss is just a totem so it doesn't do much. You'll get the essence effects like fire, etc but the boss doesn't really attack if at all.
Tried Volcano out on 50 maps and I can vouch for this. There are instances in which the Totem is ridiculously tanky and has taken me a whole minute to kill (but then again my build isn’t as strong) but otherwise Volcano is the easiest map to run Essences

wealthy exile, but i still use TFT for most part because many buyers are using bots for checking the sell list.
When you kill an essence monster do thier essence mods count for headhunter? If it does you could blitz kill the essence monsters and then easily handle the map boss, no?
No only regular rare mods
As a essence seller, it is very hard to sell in bulk this league... and instead of a premium for bulk now we have to put a discount.
It made me give up on essences tbh, not being able to sell in bulk even with 20% discount from poe ninja price is stupid. And I refuse to use TFT, so there's the biggest Avenue for sales gone as well.
Well, on the other hand I could also price them individually and just roll with it that way, like in previous leagues.
What I end up doing is converting my essences to the more valuable ones with harvest and sell that way

After 100 maps even if you have 100 essences of one type 90% of them are 2-3 C so its waste of time if.you wannt to get Rich

Bulk selling on 3rd party is great when people are selling it atleast at 100% , dont sell lower than this you are lossing money, some people dont realise this.

This league was not an essence league.
It's still about 10d/hour if you can go fast but yeah, not ideal this league. Main goal of this video is just to have a resource for people to learn about essence farming in the future.
I gave up essence farming because nobody was buying it on tft.

What is so strange about people sharing some powerfull strats like T17 barrels or meatstacks scarab farming?
Insteaed of be greatfull, people keep complain about 100d/hours strats only cause they can t do them.

I enjoy sub strats, but i also enjoy ben or fubgun crazy strats. At the end, it s a game about make money.

Selling essence is the reason I don't farm essence.
Understandable, but ez way around it, i just trade ppl that buy huge amount at once, or all. Problem fixed. They do sell, even with necro crafting around, made a nice chunk of divs 2 days ago when i finally decided i had enough to bulk sell
You can also use the harvest bechcraft to cut off the low priced Essence into a more valuable ones so you still can get profit from those Essences that no body wants
@@rubenandrade9602 i did. Im just not sure if all the juice was worth it, cuz i spent like 14d or so for juice, didnt really do the math, but i either broke even, or barely made profit that way so. Prolly wouldve been better off not converting all, just some. Or none at all, then all profit. Cuz i eas running essence in a totally diff strat, essence was just side profit, along with heist
@@rubenandrade9602 i had couple thousand essences when i finally decided to sell, so i needed a lot of juice. Im still running my strat. Its way diff from what subtractem ran. Im playing a str stacking ballista totem build. Has good dmg, but not enough defense and dmg to kill essenced bosses, cuz they also mavened. So im not using that node. Still, i get ola full invetory full of essences each map, sometimes 1 and a half. So essences are gg in my book

There are some problems that seem to be irrelevant to you high-damage full-time POE players.
Essence farming was one of the few (and best) ways to have access to higher level gear for casual players such as myself. It has now been gated behind having said gear first. To me, it is clear that the devs who made this change were tired of needing to buy essences from us plebs. So we got cut out.
Fine. Their game their choice. But I haven't been playing anymore because I have no way in to harding end game content.
Why would top tier players even want to do this? They can farm ubers and the more interesting content. It seems to be very self-serving for the few. You guys will mainly farm to craft you cool stuff ... and then, that's it. There is no need for essence farmers anymore. The argument is that with fewer farmers, the price will go up balancing the effort and time that goes into it. Not really. Powerful builds will just farm quickly again, and then move on again.
This is where a triggering argument of why socialism doesn't work because the decisions are always made by the elites to benefit the elites and only serves to remove opportunity for the lower classes. But I won't. Wait, I just did. Whatever.
The Volcano argument is not really an answer to this. It is a very, very long map (relatively) so from a time investment perspective, it is not viable. Also, not dying doesn't answer the damage requirement problem. Taking ten minutes to kill a boss, even for 20 essences is not a real argument. More than anything, it is a pretentious excuse to avoid answering the real frustrations those of us with limited abilities have with this direction.
The essence of the problem :p, is that essence farming is DOA for most people. But, hey, what can I say, GGG has never cared about most people. We don't make them money. The elites do.
